  1. What That Sign Says

    By daniel on 2002-03-10

You'll remember that a few days ago we published some new pictures from the Holywell Bay set in Cornwall. One in particular, a sign in Korean, had us stumped as to what it actually said.

Well 'rafterman' tells us that the sign is fairly simple. It's a warning, such as Do Not Enter, sign written in Korean. So there you go! Thanks 'rafterman'.

  2. Brosnan Has Doctor On Hand After Injury

    By daniel on 2002-03-07

Sky News has reported that Pierce Brosnan has been ordered to have a doctor on hand for filming of Bond 20 by the insurance company working on Bond 20. The move comes after Brosnan tore a ligament in his knee during the filming of a Bond 20 scene and then required keyhole surgery.

Seems that Brosnan may have to let a few more stunts be conducted by stunt double in the future.

Thanks to John for letting us know!

  4. Very Interesting Update On The Official Site

    By daniel on 2002-03-07

The official James Bond site http://www.jamesbond.com has today updated with various news. However, it's the pictures which will really raise eyebrows.

To begin with, the official site has sadly confirmed that actor Michael Kitchen, who plays Bill Tanner in the Pierce Brosnan Bond films, will not be returning to Bond 20. Unfortunately, the actor is busy with other work. For the 20th Bond film and the 40th Annivesary fans are sure to see the absence as a sad thing. Kitchen was also forced to not work on Tomorrow Never Dies due to a scheduling conflict.

Michael Madsen has been confirmed as "playing an NSA agent named Falco" in Bond 20, a fact that CommanderBond.Net had reported earlier in the week. The characters full name will be Damian Falco. Of Falco's relationship with Bond the site has commented that "Falco doesn’t start the film as one of Bond’s biggest fans but I am confident that 007 will win him over".

    Now onto the pictures, and the spoilers;

    Spoiler Warning (Highlight To Read)

The most interesting picture is of Pierce Brosnan and Michael Madsen.

Now let’s begin with Michael Madsen’s picture (the right-hand frame). Now, to the best of my knowledge few external scenes have been filmed outside of the pre-title sequence. The picture of Madsen seems to be from the pre-title sequence and who would be the people in the fatigues? And why have their faces been cropped from the photo? Two possibilities exist. The first is that this photo is from the scene where Bond is handed over to the American’s after being held in captivity, this occurs after the titles.. The other is that this photo is from the pre-title sequence and that the cropped faces are actually North Korean soldiers. Such a possibility would prove that Falco is indeed Bond 20’s “traitor”.

Onto the photo of Brosnan. What a photo. And what an exciting photo to discuss! Well where do we begin. Take a look at Brosnan’s left hand. He’s holding the Walther P99 in it. However, notice the gun is dismantled for cleaning.

Some Bond 20 Forum users have speculated that in this scene Bond is in M’s Office. The similarities are there, however, I believe this is actually Bond’s office at MI6, a notion that would surely excite fans. My reasoning is based on two facts; 1) Would the stylish 007 ever enter M’s office in such a state of undress? Notice his shirt is open at the neck and his tie has been loosened. 2) If Bond did enter M’s office in such a state, for whatever reason, would he then drape his jacket across the back of a chair in her office? The obvious answer to both of these questions is no.

Other ideas to think of about the shot of Brosnan; Who’s reflection is that in the window to the photos right? And what is the sudden disturbance that Bond is looking towards? I believe this shot is a part of a scene I’ve been hinting towards for quite some time now. I’ll have more details in a spy report coming soon!

Other news on the page includes the lyrics to The Man With The Golden Gun (who knows why!!) and the well-known fact that TWINE Stunt Co-ordinator Simon Crane won't be working on Bond 20.

No doubt you're going to want to discuss this news, especially the photo of Pierce Brosnan. So you can do so in this thread of the Bond 20 Forums. See you there!

  5. More Pictures From Holywell Bay

Adam checks in today with these further pictures from Holywell Bay. There's little commentry here, so we're not issuing a spoiler warning. Everything we'll mention is either obvious or has been mentioned in some way on the official site.

  6. Pierce Brosnan Returns To Bond Set

    By daniel on 2002-03-05

Actor Pierce Brosnan has returned to work on the Bond 20 according to news source Ananova. Brosnan was forced to return to the United States to receive an operation on his knee which he injured during Bond 20 filming. Eon Productions refused to comment on the exact scene Brosnan was filming, commenting only that it involved water.

It's good to see Bond back on track.

  7. Picture Of Toby Stephens At Press Conference

    By daniel on 2002-03-05

Adam A. has just sent in photo of Toby Stephens at this weekends press conference. While it's not the most exciting Bond 20 (or should that be Beyond The Ice) photo to date, it does give us a glimpse of what Toby Stephens will look like in Bond 20. Thankfully that moustache from the Jan 11 Press Conference is gone!

For those wondering, behind him is one of the domes at The Eden Project where Saturday's press conference was held.

  8. First: Halle Berry On The Late Late Show

    By daniel on 2002-03-05

Actress Halle Berry's interview with Craig Kilborn on The Late Late Show has just finished and Mister Asterix sends us in some details. To begin with, a tad of humour, Berry wishes her character was actually called Cinnamon Buns! However, all we really know of Berry's character is that she is called Jinx. Whether that is her full name or not is yet to be learnt.

However, that's not the greatest detail. Berry has revealed that she will travel to both Iceland and Spain to film scenes for Bond 20. It was previously thought that no filming with actors such as Berry or Pierce Brosnan would be conducted overseas.

And that's all that was mentioned about Bond in the interview. Thanks again to Mister Asterix for sending it in.

  9. Bond 20 Title Finally Revealed?

    By David Winter on 2002-03-04

It has been known for a long time now that the owner of Omega, SWATCH have been hard at work designing a 20 piece watch collection for the James Bond series.

Today, SWATCH have updated their product listing claiming that the title for the 20th James Bond website, is as The Sun reported almost a year ago; BEYOND THE ICE.

No comment has yet been made by Eon productions, the makers of the Bond films, and it remains uncertain whether or not they will make an announcement. On Sunday, Michael G. Wilson, producer of Bond 20, told the BBC that the title was going through its final legal stages, and a decission had been made. He told them, that he had a "pretty good idea" of what the title is to be.

Now after 3 years of guessing on what the title of Bond 20 could be, it seems that this chapter of Bond history may finnaly be coming to a close. All signs point to the Bond 20 title being: BEYOND THE ICE.

Please feel free to discuss the news in this thread which James has started.

  10. Michael Madsen Interviewed About Bond 20

    By daniel on 2002-03-04

MovieHole have just scored an exclusive interview with Michael Madsen, who is currently busy filming James Bond 20 in Britain. And it's a hell of an interview, one that is spoiler filled.

To begin with Madsen confirms long time speculation that his character's name is Falco. However, that's just his surname. His full name is Damian Falco. The official word that Madsen was a CIA agent isn't entirely true, Madsen reveals that his character is actually head of the NSA.

So how does Damian Falco become invovled with James Bond of the British Secret Service? Well it's a major spoiler and a bit of speculation on my part. But trust me, you read it here first.

    Spoiler Warning (Highlight To Read)

Damian Falco is the traitor in James Bond 20.

How have I arrived at this conclusion? Well Madsen reveals that James Bond is sent undercover to investigate ‘shady’ deals between North Korean Colonel Moon and Damian Falco. CommanderBond.Net has reported about such a deal in the past. Falco is apparently selling high-tech weaponry to Colonel Moon. In the pre-title sequence Bond is sent to investigate and is subsequently captured. But how is Bond captured?

Well my personal theory is that Falco sells him out. Madsen has revealed that a lot of his “scenes are with Judi Dench” who plays M. Is seems possible that M unwittingly reveals details to Falco about Bond’s mission? Perhaps MI6 believe it’s a joint operation between the NSA and MI6 to uncover the traitor within the NSA, however, they don’t realise that the traitor is actually Damian Falco, the head of the NSA. Hence, Falco is able to tip-off Colonel Moon.

That aside, Madsen has also confirmed he’s been learning to surf. The surfing action sequence is confirmed to be a part of the pre-title sequence in Bond 20. Rumour has it that it’s a secret training exercise conducted by Colonel Moon. We’ve learnt that it takes place at night and all the surfers are wearing high-tech suits. It now seems that both Bond and Falco are two of these surfers.

Spoilers aside, Madsen has described his character as a pivotal one. "It’s not a big role but it’s somewhat pivotal in that it introduces a new recurring character." A new recurring character? James Bond 20 just got really interesting. Speculate away as to who that character is. It's quite possible that Madsen is actually referring to his own character, Falco, as in the same interview he says "I’ll be returning in Bond 21!". Amazing news there, the likes of which Bond fans haven't heard in quite some time!

No doubt you're going to want to discuss this news right? Well head over to this thread of the Bond 20 Forums!

And if you're interested in the role of the NSA. Well it can be summed up in their mission statement; "The ability to understand the secret communications of our foreign adversaries while protecting our own communications — a capability in which the United States leads the world — gives our nation a unique advantage.". Thanks to Brett for sending that in!
