  1. Footage Of DAD On Australian TV Yesterday

    By daniel on 2002-04-23

The Today Show on Channel Nine yesterday showed footage from behind the scenes of Die Another Day. The footage was of the pre-title surfing sequence, which has already been shown to Bond fans world wide.

However, continued good news for Bond fans in both Australia and New Zealand. Richard Wilkins, the Entertainment Editor, commented that the Today Show will be showing more footage soon. In particular, footage from the hovercraft sequence in the pre-title sequence.

When we find out the schedule of the footage, we'll let you know.

If you'd like to discuss this news please do so in this thread of the Australian and New Zealand 007 Forums.

  2. Green Park Update And A Little Inside Info.

    By Evan Willnow on 2002-04-23

Garry has once again written to update us on the filming for Die Another Day that took place on Sunday. Garry returned to the Green Park location later unfortunately it was not until after Eon's crew had already completed shooting. However, he did speak to a police officer at the scene who, though not knowing the specifics of what was filmed, did confirm that the filming was indeed for Die Another Day and that Pierce Brosnan was present for filming, as he had been seen by other police officers earlier in the day.

It also has been found that Wellington Arch was not the centrepiece of the day's filming as earlier speculated. The actual location will be revealed later in a CBN Spy Report.

One more interesting bit of information was received from the police officer: Spoiler Warning (Highlight to read) The police were told that the U.K.’s military parachute team the ‘Red Devils’ would be involved in the filming of part of the movie not related to the Green Park shooting.

If you'd like to discuss the news please do so in this thread of the Die Another Day Forums.

Finally, even more thanks to Garry for this information.

  3. Exclusive: Filming Today In Green Park, London

    By daniel on 2002-04-21

Garry has just written in to let us know that filming is currently going on in Green Park, London, for Die Another Day. Green Park is in London, right near Buckingham Palace. Crews are currently setting up equipment for filming later in the day. It is assumed that Pierce Brosnan will be required for the filming of a short scene.

The park is of course of great signifance to Die Another Day and CommanderBond.Net. Five days ago we published an article speculating as how Spoiler Warning (Highlight To Read) Bond would access the MI6 base in the disused section of The Underground. My suggestion was that this scene would feature The Wellington Arch in London.

It seems the theory may be correct as The Wellington Arch stands in the South West corner of Green Park. Of course, there are other possibilities. Perhaps the film will feature Buckingham Palace itself? Another possibility is the Marble Arch, which is referenced in Fleming's "On Her Majesty's Secret Service", however, the Marble Arch is in Hyde Park and not Green Park. We'll see.

If anyone heads down to Green Park to watch the filming, or has any further details, please e-mail me at [email protected] and let me know!

If you'd like to discuss the news please do so in this thread of the Die Another Day Forums.

Finally, a big thanks to Garry for sending the news in.

  4. First Clues To Die Another Day Finale

    By Evan Willnow on 2002-04-20

Vic Armstrong revealed in an interview with The Daily Record hints of what will be involved in finale of Die Another Day.

    From The Daily Record's interview:

    Spoiler Warning (Highlight To Read)

At the moment, the action guys are waiting to film the finale – a huge aeroplane climax which is still being re-written.

Vic said: “We’ve still got a bit to do. There are some final flying machine sequences in Korea that are still to be worked out.

“The climax, after the ice lake chase, will be in an aeroplane – but I don’t know too much about it yet.”

Though very little details of the sequence were made public. We now know of three major action sequences in Die Another Day. Plus many other smaller sequences.

The entire Daily Record interview can be found here.

Armstrong also speaks of many of the stunts he had talked about in his Empire Online interview earlier in the week. (see CBN's coverage of the Emipre Online interview.)

Thanks again to Mourning Becomes Electra for the tip. Discuss this interview in CBN's Die Another Day forums in this thread.

  5. Official Site Updates With Information On Cadiz

    By daniel on 2002-04-20

The official James Bond site http://www.jamesbond.com has updated with information on the poor weather in Cadiz. But first off the rank is a glimpse at the official logo for Die Another Day.

Overall, the update simply looks at the poor weather that was initially experienced by the crew. However, readers of CommanderBond.Net will already be familiar with 90% of the details in the article.

Of more interest is this picture of Jinx:

As PaulZ108 points out in the forums, it looks like Jinx is drinking a "Mint Julep" that Bond, Goldfinger, and Pussy Galore drank in 1964's Goldfinger. Another wink perhaps?

If you want to discuss the update you can do so in this thread of the Die Another Day Forum.

  6. More DAD On Australian TV This Monday

    By daniel on 2002-04-18

Australian and New Zealand reader take not, The Today Show's entertainment presenter Richard Wilkins just confirmed on-air that this Monday the Today Show will feature more material on Die Another Day.

As we reported yesterday Wilkins is currently in the UK and has spent three days touring Pinewood Studio's, so we may get some exclusive footage or news (if we're lucky).

I expect the segment will run slightly after 7:45 am Australian Eastern Stardard Time, which is Sydney and Melbourne. Everywhere else you'll have to convert it.

If you'd like to discuss this news please visit this thread of the Australian and New Zealand 007 Forums.

  7. Australian TV Features DAD Segment

    By daniel on 2002-04-18

Australia's Channel Nine has run a segment on Die Another Day. The segment ran during the Today show (0700-0900) at around 7:50 am this morning. Richard Wilkins, the host, promised future segments on Die Another Day. That's good news for New Zealand fans as well as the Today show is now shown in both Australia and News Zealand.

This mornings footage was sadly nothing new, just the same footage that has been shown on the official James Bond site. However, it was still great to see some footage on television.

So keep an eye of the Today show every Thursday from now on. They may be able to get some exclusive footage as Wilkins revealed he'd spent the past three days at Pinewood Studio's visiting the Bond sets.

If you'd like to discuss this news please visit this thread of the Australia & New Zealand 007 Forums.

  8. Exclusive: Footage From The Pre-Title Sequence

    By daniel on 2002-04-17

German media outlet RTL have published the same footage that we reported was on Greek TV recently.

    Bond Races To A Hovercraft

Thanks to our exclusive partnership with MI6.co.uk CommanderBond.Net can bring you footage from the pre-title sequence that, unlike the RTL version, you can save to your hard drive and watch again and again.

Clopin tells us in the Die Another Day Forums about the footage.

    Spoiler Warning (Highlight To Read)

The material was now shown on RTL’s major news magazine. It is impressing. Between the Aldershot takes are bits from the Hovercraft rehearsals with the stuntmen, and also from Brosnan’s shooting in Cadiz. As earlier reported here and seen on the pix over at Halala’s sites there are featured, well, between five to seven sports cars. There’s a red Ferrari as well as Zao’s green Jaguar and also another blue, a silver and a grey sports car that have to be identified. They stand in a row, but the rest of them is hidden in smoke. Still, they don’t really fit to this ugly and muddy location. It’s dirty work for 007 – that’s for sure.

It looks like a battle field, it’s war. And a lot of fire power and explosions. I hope that doesn’t set the tone for the whole movie… There camera perspectives remind me of the ski chase in TWINE.

At the end of the report there’s Pinewood material showing a little bit of Moon’s base and Bond with hands up – right before he’s captured by Zao. It also shows that Bond is totally wet before they catch him. A drop from a waterfall..?! The material from Pinewood also has totally different light and colour impression. That’s a lot of work for post production to make it fit…

All of the footage shown was filmed at both Pinewood Studio's and Aldershot.

  9. Spy Report: Filming At Heatrow

    By daniel on 2002-04-17

Our source Mr Potato Head has just checked in with some details on filming for Die Another Day that took place at Heathrow Airport in Britain. The filming took only one day and was conducted before by the First Unit before they travelled to Spain.

    Spoiler Warning (Highlight To Read)

The First Unit used non-public areas of Heathrow Airport to film scenes from Die Another Day, hence, there was no media coverage of the event. Despite this, thanks to Mr Potato Head we’ve learnt details on one scene that was filmed.

The scene involved Pierce Brosnan dropping from the undercarriage of an aircraft onto the runway.

While we don’t have further details on the scene we are free to speculate. I personally believe this scene could be related to two sets that were constructed at Pinewood.

The first set will be shown as being in North Korea. It is the nose of an aircraft and was on the same stage as the helicopter Bond will jump from near Colonel Moon’s base.

The other set is the inside of an aircraft, we learnt of its existance from a photo of a Pinewood stage.

The news article for both of these sets can be found here.

As to the connection between the sets, we’re as yet unsure.

When we have more details you can be sure you'll read about it at CommanderBond.Net!

Until then please discuss this news in this thread of the Die Another Day Forums!

  10. Vic Armstrong Details Major DAD Stunts To Empire Online

    By Evan Willnow on 2002-04-16

In an interview on Empire Online stunt coordinator Vic Armstrong talks about the stunts of Die Another Day including details of both the ice lake chase and the pre-title hovercraft sequence. Among other things, Vic reveals that Pierce was not available for the ice chase filmed in Iceland but that Rick Yune (Zao) was on hand for the chase.

Pierce was going to come up but they got behind here [at Pinewood Studios] a little bit and couldn't get away. When it came time to go home, they wanted to send Pierce up but the ice would have melted. The day we left it just started melting, you couldn't even walk on it, so it was unfortunate. I shot plates so we can do Pierce back here which is not so bad for him because he's in the covered car whereas the other guy's in the open car. It's more important to Zao really because you see much more of the background when he's chasing around.

Vic also clarifies details of both Halle Berry's and Pierce Brosnan's injuries. Halle's eye injury was very minor according to Vic, but she did sustain an injury to her shoulder that was just a bit more serious. Pierce's knee problem apparently stemmed from previous problems that Pierce had with his knee.

To Bond fans, the saddest part of Vic's interview has to be when he speaks of the accidental destruction of an Aston Martin Vanquish.

Empire Online also has short story summarizing the stunts revealed that can be found at this link. The entire Vic Armstrong interview can be found at this link. WARNING: Both articles contain some spoilers. Big thanks to 'john007' for pointing out the story.
