  2. Young Bond Book 3 Title To Be Decided By The Fans

    By righty007 on 2006-10-03

Young Bond 3Earlier this year, author Charlie Higson announced the three rejected titles for Young Bond 3 (Shoot the Moon, The Big Smoke, and Six Days in December). The final title, however, remained a mystery for months.

    Until now.

Today, Ian Fleming Publications have announced that final decision on the title of Book 3 is being left to Young Bond fans. Fans will be able to vote at www.youngbond.com between the three finalists.

IMAGE: Fans To Decide Young Bond Book 3 Title

Fans To Decide Young Bond Book 3 Title

The choices are: Double or Die, N.E.M.E.S.I.S., and The Deadlock Cipher.

To help fans decide, there is an exclusive extract from Young Bond 3 on the Young Bond website and a note from Charlie Higson about the three titles he has picked. You can also cast your vote at by texting DOUBLE (Double or Die), ENEMY (N.E.M.E.S.I.S.) or LOCK (The Deadlock Cipher) to 60022.

    The official Press release:

THE THIRD YOUNG BOND BOOK IS COMING!

    Young Bond 3
    Which Title? You Decide…

In an unprecedented nationwide ballot, Britain is to decide the title of the third book in the super-selling Young Bond series, written by Charlie Higson and due to be published by Puffin Books on 4th January 2007.

Voting for the nation’s preferred title starts today, Tuesday 3rd October at 9am, and closes at midnight on the 3rd November. To cast your vote, and become part of James Bond history, visit www.youngbond.com. There are three possible titles, chosen by the author, Charlie Higson:

    • Double or Die
    • N.E.M.E.S.I.S.
    • The Deadlock Cipher

To help you decide, there is an exclusive extract from Young Bond 3 on the Young Bond website and a note from Charlie Higson about the three titles he has picked.

The title will be kept a closely guarded secret until publication and revealed at an as yet undisclosed, central London location on the 3rd January 2007.

The Young Bond series follows the daredevil adventures of James Bond as an Eton school boy in the 1930s. The third instalment in a planned series of five titles, written by Charlie Higson, sees the young James Bond pitted against the dangerous criminal underworld of interwar London, a world of illegal gambling dens, Cambridge spies and East End gangs. Here you’ll read about the experiences which turned the boy into the steely and ruthless secret agent that Bond becomes as an adult.

The first books in the Young Bond series, SilverFin (published in March 2005) and Blood Fever (published in January 2006) enjoyed tremendous success. SilverFin sold over 190,000 copies and spent ten weeks in the top-ten and Blood Fever went straight to number one in the bestsellers chart.

All voters have a chance to win one of a limited number of tickets to the central London event and discover, before anyone else, the title of Young Bond 3.

You can also cast your vote by text:

    • For DOUBLE OR DIE text DOUBLE to 60022
    • For N.E.M.E.S.I.S text ENEMY to 60022
    • For THE DEADLOCK CIPHER text LOCK to 60022

Texts cost your normal rate. For full terms and conditions see www.youngbond.com.

    Press Release

Personally, I’ll be voting for The Deadlock Cipher because it sounds like a title Fleming would be proud of. N.E.M.E.S.I.S. is my second favourite because it’s reminiscent of the evil organizations S.P.E.C.T.R.E. and S.C.U.M. (Fans of James Bond Jr. will remember that one).

  3. John Barry Not Bonding With The Modern 007

    By Devin Zydel on 2006-10-03

John Barry, composer of a record 11 James Bond films, isn’t bonding with the modern 007, according to a report from the International Express.

‘I haven’t been a Bond fan in a long time,’ he says. ‘I gave up after The Living Daylights in 1987. I had exhausted all my ideas, rung all the changes that were possible. It was a formula that had run its course. The best had been done as far as I was concerned…’

‘There used to be one solid school of people. When that broke down [after Saltzman left the series in the mid-70s], I didn’t know who was running the show anymore. That’s why when you see them on television, you don’t say “Oh no, it’s an old Bond”, you say “Wow, it’s an old Bond, that’s great”‘. ‘Forget it, I’ll watch something else,’ says Barry, when it comes to some of the newer James Bond films.

And while the Academy Award and Grammy-winning composer is still friends with current producer Barbara Broccoli, he will reportedly not be rushing out to see Casino Royale when it is released.

  5. New Interview With Casino Royale's Mads Mikkelsen

    By Devin Zydel on 2006-10-02

SuperHeroHype has scored an interview with Mads Mikkelsen, who plays the villainous Le Chiffre in the upcoming Casino Royale.

Here, Mikkelsen speaks about the casting process, playing a Bond villain, the poker scenes, the torture sequence, and much more. Presented are selections from the interview, click here to read the entire article.

James Bond Hype!: I met the casting director in the Bahamas earlier this year, and she said that she was familiar with your previous work, so I assume they approached you to play Le Chiffre. What was the audition process like?

Mikkelsen: Well, the thing is that I couldn’t make it for the first couple of auditions, because I was working on a revenge film in Prague, so I just thought that I might be number 2,000 on the list, but they kept calling me back three times. Eventually, I made it. I was dressed up and I was about to do a scene with Daniel [Craig], but at that time, they’ve all seen my work and they were quite busy, so I got the job without doing the casting, which was kind of an anti-climax, but still, I enjoyed that.

    …..

JBH!: Did you get to go down to the Bahamas at all or were you mainly in Prague?

Mikkelsen: No, I didn’t do Bahamas. I was there last year on a different thing, but everybody came back from there with a tan, and I was waiting for them in Prague. Isn’t that terrible? Well, my character is a little more vampiric. He stays inside. He doesn’t like the sunshine, so that’s fine. I’m just pale and that’s good.

    …..

JBH!: By the way, I’m going to play poker later tonight, so do you have any tips you can give me, either as an actor or as LeChiffre?

Mikkelsen: Fold. Fold, fold, keep folding. Don’t think you’re going to get lucky. Just play the odds. Fold, fold, fold, especially if you’re playing a lot of people. If you’re playing four people, it’s a different situation. If you play ten people, fold, unless you have good cards.

    …..

JBH!: I played poker with Catarina Murino in the Bahamas, and she was very good, so watch out for her.

Mikkelsen: Oh, yeah? I never played with her. I’ve played with the rest of the cast, basically every night. We all practiced, but everybody was fairly good at this. [Producer] Michael Wilson was there playing us all the time as well; he wasn’t a bad player. We were just stealing each other’s per diems every night and that was the funny part of being there.

  8. Casino Royale Video Interviews: Daniel Craig, Eva Green, & Caterina Murino

    By Devin Zydel on 2006-10-02

CBn forum member Cody has pointed out a few Casino Royale video interviews that may have gone unnoticed by some James Bond fans on MTV Overdrive. Featured are interviews–taken in much earlier stages of the 007 film shoot–with Daniel Craig, Eva Green, and Caterina Murino.

To access both videos, ‘A Human Bond’ and ‘More Than Just A Bond Girl,’ click on this link. Both videos will eventually play after the annoying ads.

While describing their (then current) work in the Bahamas, Craig said: ‘On a movie of this scale, it’s important to get the locations right… the Bahamas has provided us with fantastic locations and beautiful settings… and then we had to get back into the grind and get back into the studio. That’s part of the process.’

‘They [Bond and Vesper Lynd] constantly spar with one another verbally, and there’s always this boxing game between them; very competitive,’ says Eva Green. ‘I think this is very sexy and old-fashioned in a nice way…’

The second video, ‘More Than Just A Bond Girl,’ focuses on Caterina Murino, who plays the character of Solange. ‘For me, to be here on a huge movie with Judi Dench and Daniel Craig, it’s like a dream…’
