  1. Royale Score Details Emerge

    By @mrpauldunphy on 2006-10-14

The Sony Music Store seems to have quelled the buzz that Bond music fans were making on the CBn Forum since previous track listings of the Casino Royale Score were released on play.com and HMV UK websites yesterday.

I say quelled because there was a buzz—but it has since stopped—and I say buzz because there was a buzz—but it has since been stopped by the good quelling it received. The buzz in question was regarding the seemingly “incomplete” nature of the tracklisting, but the quelling came in the form of a more rounded, more “official” version on Sony’s online music emporium.

The Sony Music Store now lists twenty-five tracks in the score, seemingly making the CD a more complete collection of David Arnold’s score. Oddly, the film’s theme—Chris Cornell’s ‘You Know My Name’—is not in the track list.

  2. China May Block Bond at the Border

    By Evan Willnow on 2006-10-13

Variety reports that Casino Royale may be China’s next victim of the country’s “blackouts” of Hollywood films. This year’s Miami Vice and World Trade Center have already suffered from the blackouts. The Variety report states, “China usually has two or three blackout periods a year in which foreign films are not allowed to be released, but this year there will have been more.” The next blackout may block Casino Royale from making its planned 17 November release.

This delay could cost Sony and Danjaq millions if past examples hold true. Past Hollywood films have found that during forced wait of the blackouts cheap pirated DVDs flooded into a market of over a thousand million depriving the studios of box office take.

The blackouts are not James Bond’s only adversary in China. Chinese censors have yet to approve a James Bond film for release, “[Bond’s] penchant for espionage in other jurisdictions or ‘third countries’ has meant he has yet to outdo his adversaries among China’s censors.” Variety explains.

  3. Sony Ericsson's Limited Edition Casino Royale Cyber-shot Phone

    By Devin Zydel on 2006-10-12

Sony Ericsson has announced their limited special silver versions of the K800 and K790 Cyber-shot camera phones which will be featured in Casino Royale. The full press release follows:

Sony Ericsson today announced special silver versions of the K800 and K790 Cyber-shot camera phones as used by James Bond in the eagerly awaited new Bond movie, Casino Royale. These exclusive new camera phones which will be available for a limited period of three months, enable the world’s most famous secret agent to stay on top of the action with exactly the same sense of style and performance as Sony Ericsson phones bring to everyday life. So whether it’s ‘enemy surveillance’ or you just want to take high quality photos and share them instantly with friends and family, the Cyber-shot K800 and K790 phones are a must.

Casino Royale is released globally on 17 November 2006. Daniel Craig stars as “007” James Bond, the smoothest, sexiest, and most lethal agent on Her Majesty’s Secret Service. Based on the first Bond book written by Ian Fleming, the story reveals the making of the world’s greatest secret agent.

‘With both the latest Cyber-shot phone and the M600 Smartphone being used to assist the non-stop action in Casino Royale, plus a major marketing promotion to coincide with the launch of the movie, this is yet another example of collaboration between us and Sony Pictures Entertainment,’ says Jan Wareby, Corporate Executive Vice President and Head of Sales and Marketing at Sony Ericsson. ‘The special silver edition Cyber-shot camera phones will allow Bond fans to personalize their experience of this fantastic movie whilst also enjoying one of the best performing camera phones on the market.’

The silver K800/K790 phones are a natural fit with the cool, sophisticated style of James Bond – a man who doesn’t do things by half-measures. Both are highly capable mobile phones that also provide cutting edge camera features, a 3.2 Megapixel camera with Autofocus, Xenon Flash for lowlight conditions and BestPic, which allows the user to take nine pictures of a moving object simultaneously and choose to keep the best shot. High speed 3G data transfer then allows the user to share images easily and instantly so you can share them with friends, colleagues – or even MI6 – as you take their picture.

No special edition handset of this caliber would be complete without a host of “007”-themed content. The silver K800 and K790 Cyber-shot phones are equipped with Bond wallpapers, music ringtones and the full video movie trailer. The phones also offer Picture Blogging for uploading photos to a personal online blogsite & PictBridge for printing direct to a printer, without the need for a PC or laptop.

The special edition Silver K800 (Dual mode UMTS 2100MHZ & GPRS) and K790 (Tri Band EDGE) Cyber-shotâ„¢ phones will be available worldwide during Q4 2006.

Full phone specifications available on request.

  7. Ford Mondeo's Screen Debut In Casino Royale

    By Devin Zydel on 2006-10-11

While the Aston Martin DBS is the big draw when it comes to cars in Casino Royale, the film will additionally feature others.

As was the case with Die Another Day, Ford will be supplying vehicle for a sequence in the film: their all new Ford Mondeo. Ford recently launched its ‘Licence & Loaded’ promotion which features the car to tie in with the film.

Motoring Life reports that the car will be first seen as Daniel Craig’s James Bond uses it early on in the Bahamas sequence.

‘We’re delighted to be part of this exciting new Bond project,” said Stephen Odell, Ford of Europe Vice President for Marketing Sales and Service. ‘As part of Ford Motor Company’s significant relationship with Bond, the producers wanted a very special vehicle for this short, early sequence in Casino Royale, and we decided this was a great opportunity to showcase the exciting new Mondeo shortly after the global reveal of a preview model at the 2006 Paris Motor Show.’

Constructed in Germany, the car was then shipped under as much secrecy as possible to the Bahamas for its appearance in Casino Royale.

‘The new Mondeo was essentially still on the drawing board when we were asked to supply the vehicle for filming in February 2006,’ said Martin Smith, Ford of Europe’s Executive Director for Design. “As volume production for the car doesn’t start until the second quarter of 2007, we had to create a one-off, driveable model based around a design studio property!’
