  1. XBOX Magazine Includes EoN Demo

    By Athena Stamos on 2004-01-25

In February’s issue of XBOX Magazine they have included on their monthly “demo disk” a demo of not one, not two… but three levels of EA’s James Bond: Everything or Nothing!

What more could you possibly want in a video game than big guns, huge explosions, and hot Bond girls? How about vehicles? It seems EA has been thinking right along those tracks.

Both Agent Under Fire and especially Nightfire were solid first-person shooters, but for this adventure we’ll be seeing and hearing a lot more of Mr. Brosnan – quite literally – as the perspective has been changed to a third person view and Brosnan is lending his voice to the project this time. And to cap it all off, EA is pulling out all the stops by including one of the most infamous Bond villains of then all, Jaws, and he will be voiced by none other that Richard Kiel.

There’s a multitude of fun Bondian things to do in the game (not to mention in the demo)…

    X-Box Demo:

    • Demo level: A Long way down
Mr. Bond has to rappel from a building while being chased by bad guys with guns, as the building explodes. Just so he can hit ground and proceed to shoot more pesky foes.
    • Demo level: The Pontchatran Bridge
My favorite of the 3 demo levels. Jaws is off in a tanker truck to blow up a city and Mr. Bond has to hunt him down on a Triumph Daytona 600 Motorcycle the while henchmen on motorcycles pursue and fire at him. But they won’t last long because Q has equipped Bond’s motorcycle with a missile firing system and flamethrower.

On this level M delivers some clever lines.

    • When blowing up a motorist: “Careful James, your target is Jaws not innocent motorist.”
    • When blowing up a motorist who seems like he’s out to get you: “Careful James, your target it Jaws not reckless drivers.”
    • When you fail the mission: “You failed 007; Jaws will sink the city along with your reputation. Return to MI6 at once.” [wav file: here]
    • Demo level: Bazaar (multiplayer co-op)
Third person multi-player? I hope there’s a way to change this to first person on the actual game.

Control seems pretty tight: the vehicle felt good, and targeting is made pretty easy by holding down the left trigger. As good as Nightfire was, Everything or Nothing is cranking everything up.

With no new Bond film in sight for a while, this should help fill the void until Brosnan brings Bond back to the big screen again.

The current track listing is as follows:

    2. James Bond Theme
    3. An Old Friend in Egypt
    4. Barfight in New Orleans

  3. EoN plot synopsis revealed!

By The CBn Team on 2004-01-14

The official website for Everything or Nothing have released a plot synopsis for EA’s new Bond adventure due out next month.

“The biggest development in technology is small-very small-and it’s missing. At Oxford’s Department of Microtechnology, prototype nanorobots have been stolen, and project scientist Dr. Katya Nadanova (Heidi Klum) has disappeared. The nanobots are equipped with an organic compound that can eat away metal, providing the key ingredient in Nikolai Diavolo (Willem Dafoe)’s plan to seize control of his native Russia and return it to its former glory as a bastion of hard-line anti-Westernism.

Diavolo is more than merely a former KGB officer disillusioned by the Westernization of his homeland. The prodigy of 007’s nemesis Max Zorin, Diavolo was groomed to carry Zorin’s plans to their natural conclusion, namely world domination.

Another agent, 003 had been sent to investigate a mysterious mining operation and is now missing. His last known contact was American geologist Serena St. Germaine (Shannon Elizabeth), and Bond is sent to locate her in Peru. While there he discovers that 003 had contacted her in regards to her research on the anomalous platinum levels in the surrounding mountains. Investigating with St. Germaine, Bond is astonished to see Agent 003 undergoing a brutal interrogation at the hands of a mysterious stranger (Diavolo). Bond listens as 003 whispers his last dying words: “You must get to New Orleans … stop Diavolo …”

Bond arrives in New Orleans while the city is preparing for Mardi Gras. He has plans to meet with Mya Starling, an undercover NSA agent who is assigned to keep an eye on a Russian Colonel. Mya is performing her title song “Everything or Nothing”, but is discovered by Arkady Yayakov, the club’s owner, before Bond arrives. Yayakov and his right-hand man Jean LaRouge, have lethal plans for her. Bond must race through the club and nearby cemetery to a crematorium to save her.

The following morning he receives orders to head to a plantation in the Bayou, where he learns that Katya has modified the nanobot technology for Diavolo’s sinister plans. Bond destroys the facility, and sees Jaws escaping toward New Orleans with a tanker full of the improved nanobot technology. He must stop Jaws before he reaches his “test city” and unleashes the nanobots on the steel-supported city of New Orleans. If Jaws succeeds, the nanobots will dissolve the metal and the city will plummet into the Mississippi River, and millions will be killed.

At the Q-lab, Bond learns that platinum is the only metal that the nanobots won’t destroy. He surmises that this bizarre chain of events must tie directly to Serena’s research in Peru.

Will the world be made safe for democracy once again? That’s up to you. You are Bond – James Bond.”

IGN Music has interviewed singer Mya on her involvement with the forthcoming James Bond gaming title, Everything or Nothing.

In the article, Mya discusses what her involvement in the project meant in terms of work, “I sort of found out everything that would be happening within the video game when I got to the recording studio. I got to scream from the bottom of my lungs and I got to kick and fight and all kinds of things that I didn’t know I’d be doing when I walked into the session. So it was really interesting and a different project for me in that aspect.” Also discussed is Mya’s writing and singing of a unique song to serves as the theme tune for the game.
