  1. Exclusive: Pictures From The Bond 20 Set

    By daniel on 2002-02-24

    Thanks to Adam A. CommanderBond.Net can now bring you some exclusive pictures from the Bond 20 sets being constructed at Holywell Bay in Cornwall. We've already seen quite a few pictures of the set to date, for instance this report has three, however, Adam brings us a completely different view.

    While the pictures contain insignificant spoilers the report that accompanies them does contain spoilers, so you'll have to highlight it to read it;

    Spoiler Warning (Highlight To Read)

    This first picture shows rows upon rows of defences on the beach controlled by Colonel Moon. I can’t remember the exact names of these objects, however, Britain (and I’m sure many other countries) used them in the Second World War to guard of an invasion by sea. I presume that when filming commences barbed-wire will be inserted between the objects, that wouldn’t have been added just yet for safety reasons. Additionally, take a look at the concrete pillars. They are all brand new (no more than a month old) yet notice the clever ‘ageing’ effect on them. That’s a brilliant example of movie magic.

    This second photo shows the same ‘defences’ from a slightly different angle. While this picture doesn’t highlight the enormous amount of objects constructed on the beach you should note the pylon on the left hand side of the image. It’s a large flood light that will be used for filming purposes. It could indicate many things, film crew wishing to film in ‘grey’ conditions (much like the type these photos were taken in) or that filming may take place at night. However, the truth is anyone’s guess right now.

    Again another shot showing the beach defences, however, this one looks out to sea. Pay attention to those two rock formations. It’s rumoured that Bond will ‘surf’ inbetween them as a part of the surf sequence.

    Finally is a sign that has been erected in the area by Eon Productions. Please note that I've digitally removed the phone number that was on the sign.

    That's all for today, but what of tomorrow? Well I can promise more images from Holywell Bay so please stay tuned!

    Until tomorrow please discuss these pictures in this thread of the Bond 20 Forums! And again a big thanks to Adam for sending in the images!

  2. Spy Report: Now You See Me…

    By daniel on 2002-02-22

    Approximately a week ago the German media reported on some gadgets that Bond’s Aston Martin V12 Vanquish is likely to have. Well today CommanderBond.Net can exclusively reveal some details on one of those gadgets. While there is nothing to do with the Bond 20 plot included in this report some people may still consider the material spoiler related, as a result you’ll have to highlight it to read.

    Spoiler Warning (Highlight To Read)

    The German media agency reported that one of the gadgets on the Aston Martin V12 Vanquish makes the car ‘invisible’. Bond fans met the news with various groans, after all, the concept does sound very far fetched. However, thanks to our source Brosnan’s Hair we can now give you the facts.

    To begin with, Bond’s Vanquish does indeed become ‘invisible’ but not as you think, it’s not a matter of hitting a button and the car simply disappears. Rather, the car ‘disappears’ using a process very similar to that used by stage magicians such as David Copperfield. While Copperfield is able to make various large objects ‘disappear’ we all know that they’re still there, it’s just stage magic.

    Q-Branch has included a bit of ‘magic’ in Bond’s new Aston Martin, but we all know it’s not really magic. It’s just smoke and mirrors. No doubt this gadget will help Bond evade some villain at some stage.

    A very cool gadget there! Again, a big thank you to Brosnan’s Hair for sending in the details of the gadget!

    If you’d like to discuss this news please do so in this thread of the Bond 20 Forums, see you there!

  3. Filming On A Cornish Beach To Begin

    By daniel on 2002-02-22

    It seems that filming on a beach in Cornwall for Bond 20 is to begin ahead of schedule, possibly as a result of Pierce Brosnan’s injury. All the filming will be conducted on the beach of Holywell Bay.

    Set construction at Holywell Bay is in full swing as pictures from the Cornish Guardian reveal. But what exactly are they constructing?

    The sets are external sets only. That is, they look like full buildings from the outside, however, there is nothing but scaffolding on the inside. This is because all internal filming for such sets is done at Pinewood Studio’s.

    While we have further details, they do include spoilers, so you’ll have to highlight them to read;

    Spoiler Warning (Highlight To Read)

    With the construction of sets, and the ‘planting’ of fake pine trees, the beach is being transformed into the North Korean shoreline. Presumably this North Korean Military base will belong to the villainous Colonel Moon.

    It’s really hard to say what action takes place here, however, it seems possible that footage from the pre-title surf sequence shot in Hawaii could link into this scene (Holywell Bay is after all a surf beach). Also it is known that the hovercraft action sequence will take place here, with further hovercraft filming occurring.

    Filming in Holywell Bay is expected to begin within a week, sources indicating February 28th, and you can be sure that CommanderBond.Net will have all the news as it happens!

    If you'd like to discuss this news please discuss it in this thread of the Bond 20 Forums!

    Finally a big thanks to Adam A. for sending in the photos and all the news. It's greatly appreciated!

  4. Details On Michael Madsen's Character?

    By daniel on 2002-02-21

    More details have emerged on the character to be played by American actor Michael Madsen, who according to a press release from Eon Productions is playing an "uncompromising CIA agent". However, at the Brit Awards Michael Madsen presented the award for Best Video and the introduction that was given for him gave a different spin on his character.

    Spoiler Warning (Highlight To Read)

    Before Madsen walked on stage (to the James Bond theme no-less) the announcer stated that Madsen would be playing a villain in Bond 20. One wonders how many villains Bond 20 is going to have.

    While we know that Madsen isn’t playing the villain, it could be presumed that he is perhaps playing a CIA Agent who is a double agent, hence, the villainous description.

    For reference, it has been rumoured in the past that Madsen's character would be known as Falco.

    A big thanks to Mr Moon for reporting that news in this thread of the Bond 20 Forums, discuss it there!

  5. Action Pic From Bond 20

    By daniel on 2002-02-21

    The Sun had also posted one other pic from Bond 20 that I forgot to mention yesterday;

    Mike Stephen, BWP Media (http://www.bwpmedia.com)

    Spoiler Warning (Highlight To Read) This picture is of the surfing sequence which sources have indicated takes place in the pre-title sequence of Bond 20. We have seen a similair photo before, however, in this one the three characters are placed slightly differently. But more importantly, look at the size of that wave!

    Thanks to Tony for sending the picture in. If you'd like to discuss it, please do so in this thread of the Bond 20 Forums!

  6. Bond 20 Footage On Entertainment Tonight

    By daniel on 2002-02-21

    According to Bond 20 Forum user 'Jay', footage from James Bond 20 was shown on the latest edition of 'Entertainment Tonight'. According to Jay the segment included to shots of Brosnan in Bond 20.

    The first shot was of Brosnan in a tuxedo having his camera makeup adjusted.

    The second shot was of Brosnan in an external venue. He was reportedly wearing casual clothes in this shot Spoiler Warning (Hightlight To Read) indicating that the footage may be from the pre-title sequence. Another difference between the two shots is that while in casual clothes Brosnan had stubble on his face, whereas, in the tuxedo shot he was clean shaven.

    To the best of my knowledge, the Entertainment Tonight website contains no footage from their news report.

    If anyone has details, footage, a report on the segment, anything please post it in this thread of the Bond 20 Forums or send it to me at [email protected]

  7. Pierce Brosnan Heads Back To United States

    By daniel on 2002-02-21

    'Hamlet' has sent in a short e-mail to let us know that Pierce Brosnan has flown to the United States to receive surgery on his knees so that there is no long-term damage. Brosnan was injured during filming of Bond 20 last Friday.

    A statement from Eon Productions and MGM on the official James Bond website has revealed that Brosnan will be back on set on March 4 and that the release of Bond 20 into cinemas will not be delayed by the injury.

    If you'd like to discuss Brosnan's injury please visit this thread of the Bond 20 Forums. Again, thanks to 'Hamlet' for sending that news into us.

  8. New Photo Of Brosnan On Set

    By daniel on 2002-02-21

    A new photo from the set of Bond 20 has found it's way onto the Internet, this photo comes from the UK publication The Sun.

    This photo is taken from Spoiler Warning (Highlight To Read) the pre-title sequence of Bond 20, where 007 is undercover using the name of Mr Van Beere. Hence, Brosnan doesn’t look too much like Bond.

    If you'd like to discuss this new picture please visit this thread of the Bond 20 Forums! See you there!

  9. Official Site Updates With Car News

    By daniel on 2002-02-21

    The official James Bond site http://www.jamesbond.com has today updated with details on road testing the new Aston Martin V12 Vanquish's.

    There are too few details available on Bond 20 in the article (though Pierce Brosnan's knee injury is mentioned) to write up heaps about it here. However, Bond enthusiasts will of course want to read it!

    Thanks to Scaramanga for tipping us off to the news! If you'd like to discuss it please do in this thread of the Bond 20 Forums.

  10. 40th Anniversary Poster Revealed

    By daniel on 2002-02-20

    The poster for the 40th Anniversary of the cinematic James Bond was sent into us today thanks to Zencat, and here it is;

    The poster is extremely similair to the 25th Anniversary poster that was released in conjunction with The Living Daylights. The major difference is, however, that the 40th Anniversary poster makes no reference of James Bond 20.

    Sadly, the biggest disappointment with the 40th Anniversary poster is that while it's already circulation the official James Bond site is yet to make any reference to it. If anyone knows of any online stores that the poster is available from please drop me a line through [email protected]

    Again a big thanks to Zencat for sending that image in!
