The case is made out of aluminium and is 50cm long, 36cm deep and 22cm wide.

Missing from the case is of course the watches. However, the case itself is currently at auction at GBP 230.00.

    By daniel on 2002-03-26

SpyGuise have two great new products for Bond fans to get their hands on. The first is great news!

After the great success of the Special Edition Spy Guise / Corgi Aston Martin DB5 SpyGuise have just announced that Eon Production has just approved another exciting limited edition James Bond vehicle: the famous Lotus Esprit seen in The Spy Who Loved Me. This is the classic 1:36 Corgi vehicle which was initially released during the summer of 1977. The beautifully detailed Lotus has become a popular collectible for both Bond and Corgi car fans. However, this is the first time it has ever been released in this exciting commemorative packaging designed by acclaimed artist Jeff Marshall.

It's definetley worth getting your hands on according to Spy Guise. Their limited edition Aston Martin DB5 recently sold for over US$400 in a British auction.

The Special Edition Spy Guise / Corgi Lotus Espirit is retailing for only US$75.

The other new item from SpyGuise is a music CD. Entitled James Bond & Beyond it features music by Mike Boldt. There are also some bonuses available with the CD, which retails for only US$15. So check it out here.

  4. Three James Bond Calendars Available For 2003

    By daniel on 2002-02-25

Few people will have a James Bond calendar on their walls in 2002, that's basically because there were none available. However, it's all going to be made up to James Bond fans in 2003 with three Bond calendars being made available to Bond fans.

The three calendars are; Classic, Poster and Desktop and personally I'm excited about all three.

The Classic Calendar will feature photos from the 40 years of James Bond. It's interesting to note in the above image of the calendar that space has been reserved for a Bond 20 image.

The Poster Calendar will feature various images of Bond poster work, however, details of the particular posters hasn't been revealed yet.

Few details have been revealed about the Desktop Calendar, bar that it will be spiral bound and be illustrated.

SpyGuise does warn that the calendars will only receive one print run so numbers will be limited! To ensure that you get your calendar pre-order yours today here. Remember, once they're sold out, you're not going to get your hands on these calendars. Personally I've just pre-ordered the Desktop Calendar and the Classic Calendar. (As a note, you're not actually charged for the items until they ship later this year).

Aside from the calendars there are some other great items available from SpyGuise.

For instance, the new James Bond 12" Figure Range is currently on pre-order at SpyGuise. You can order a few figures or the whole range!

For fans of the series 'Get Smart' a 12" Figure range is now available from SpyGuise as well!

    Fifty-one other new items grace the SpyGuise catalogue. Of particular interest are;

    • The James Bond Trivia Quiz Book here
    • Celebrity Sleuth here This edition is a special on Bond Girls and includes 100 pages on Bond women, many nude or semi-nude shots.
    • Diamonds Are Forever Commemorative Litho here A great new lithograph from artist Jeff Marshall!
    • Thunderball Commemorative Litho here A great new lithograph from artist Jeff Marshall!

That's all for now! But you can be sure that when some great new items come out, CommanderBond.net will be there to tell you about it!

And don't forget to pre-order your calendar now, you don't want to miss out!

  5. James Bond Items At The New York Toy Fair

    By daniel on 2002-02-19

Just over a week ago the Toy Show was held in New York and James Bond was a big feature of the event. There were several Bond related stalls including one run by Eon Productions and MGM and also another run by Sideshow Toy who have created the 12 inch collectible figure range. In fact, Bond was so present at the event both the Aston Martin V12 Vanquish and the Aston Martin DB5 were present at the event.

The majority of the Bond related items are a result of the partnership between Eon Production and the Beanstalk Group who have been aiding in the merchandising and licensing. Of interest is the fact that the Eon/MGM stall ran a seven-minute video on Bond, the 40th Anniversary and further licensing opportunities. It is known that more products are on the way, however, it now seems that further product opportunities are being offered to companies. (As a side note, the video presented by Eon/MGM apparently brought back and excitement to Bond that has been missing for sometime, another words, Bond-mania).

The majority of products lines revealed so far have been labelled as children’s lines (though I assure you that Bond fans old and young will be buying a lot of these products), however, there’s no need to fear as a product line aimed at adults is expected soon. And here’s what you’ll find in the children’s line.

    • Dye-cast car models of the Aston Martin V12 Vanquish, the Jaguar XKR and the Ford Thunderbird. I’m not 100% sure who is creating the presented models, however, as CommanderBond.net has reported in the past both MiniChamps and Corgi are expected to release various Bond 20 related car models.
    • 1:16 scale Remote Control car models of the Aston Martin V12 Vanquish and Jaguar XKR which is bound to be a popular item with all Bond fans. For most of us it will be the only opportunity to drive the Aston Martin V12 Vanquish.
    • a James Bond camera. I’m not sure if it’s a digital camera or a standard 35mm. There are also variations on the concept including a camera hidden in a Cola Can and an orange juice pack, true gadgets.
    • a walkie-talkie set which is referred to as a Intercom. Interestingly the full package reads Intercom Camera, does this perhaps indicate that the ‘intercom’ will transmit picture and sound?
    • James Bond Monopoly, which I think is one of the better items. Star Wars has for a long time had its own Monopoly board and it’s great to see James Bond have on too. Personally, I can’t wait to buy Blofeld’s hollowed-out volcano!
    • 3-Way Binoculars making every young fan a spy, after all, which way will he or she be looking? Only they will know!
    • a James Bond watch which appears to have an FM radio as a gadget amongst other things
    • a James Bond camcorder.

There are plenty of other items featured in the pictures we’ve obtained, I’m not 100% what they all are though!

    The Ian Fleming Foundation has further reported that these items will also be available as a part of the childrens line;

    • Night Vision Explorer
    • Metal Detector
    • All-in-one Telescope/Microscope
    • Flashlight
    • Sonic Explorer – a long-range listening device
    • Multi-Purpose Survival Kit includes: telescope, rescue bottle with SOS, message and pen, signal mirror, torch, safety LED flasher, siren alarm, chronograph stopwatch, FM radio, compass, and a belt clip.
    • The Four-in-One Spy Kit includes a flashlight, telescope, microscope, and long-range listening device.

Don’t forget to check out the Ian Fleming Foundation‘s website as they also have some great pictures of the items!

The Sideshow 12 inch figure line is one I’ve been talking about for ages now and as I already mentioned Sideshow had a stall at the event. Someone who attended the event has told us that while a lot of the figures are still prototypes they look amazing! Here is a picture of the range and a close up of the Timothy Dalton prototype as proof!

While not featured in those pictures, word has reached me that Sideshow may be planning more figures than they’ve currently announced. I’m personally looking into it and I’ll let you know more when I find out!

Other products that could be found at the Toy Fair included the new Corgi line, which we had already reported on here. However, that's not all. Featured items include a Barbie/James Bond connection, the Swatch watches we've previously mentioned, Books, Calendars, Playing Cards and finally Eyewear! Also of interest is the fact that Richard Kiel was present at the event signing 40th Anniversary James Bond posters (more on these posters soon!)

With all these great products coming out soon something looks promising.

    Bond-Mania May Finally Be Back!

  6. First: Sideshow Reveal James Bond Figure Range

    By daniel on 2002-02-10

Sideshow Toy have just revealed their James Bond 12 inch Figure range on their official website, and we're the first to bring you the news and details!

While Sideshow are taking pre-orders on two figures (James Bond and Dr No, both from Dr No) galleries of other characters are already online. While it's great to view these characters, it's better to know that some of them are still works-in-progress, which will allow devout Bond fans to check back in the future and notice small differences.

    Currently it seems that Sideshow will release figures from the following Bond movies;

    • Goldfinger
    • On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    • Live and Let Die
    • The Man with the Golden Gun
    • Licence to Kill

As I mentioned before, the first two figures to be released will be Sean Connery as James Bond and Joseph Wiseman as Dr Julius No. While the figures are both already available on pre-order they won't start shipping until August 2002. The two figures will retail for US$80 and will be made as a Limited Edition. However, how many will actually be produced is yet to be decided.

The above image is of the two figures. Both will of course come with accessories. Bond will come with a Walther PPK, a Baretta hand-gun, liquor bottle, glass and martini shaker. No will come with his radiation suit.

Further pictures (and alternative views) of characters are available exclusively at the Sideshow Toy website. We haven't included them all here.

That's all that we have to report now! We'll have more details for you as they surface. You can depend on CommanderBond.net to cover the 40th Annivesary of James Bond (and all the products that come with it!)

  7. New Bond Corgi Models For July 2002

    By daniel on 2002-02-04

Word has reached us from the trade only Spring Fair at the NEC in Birmingham, England about new models due out from Corgi from July 2002 onwards.

The Corgi stand at the Spring Fair displayed new packaging for the existing Bond range, presumably the change will highlight and celbrate the 40th Anniversary of James Bond. The display also promoted new Bond related models due out from Corgi.

    These models included;

    • the Rolls Royce from Goldfinger
    • the Kenworth Tanker from License To Kill
    • the Lorry from From Russia With Love
    • the Aston Martin V12 Vanquish from Bond 20

It's great to see that more models will be available from Corgi, moreover, it's great to see another Bond 20 Vanquish model available to the public. Only yesterday we revealed that Minichamps will produce a range of three model cars, all cars are to feature in Bond 20.

While the actual models were not displayed (rather mockups where), some pricing details were revealed. It was indicated that the models would sell for sub £8.

One must wonder, as the Aston Martin DB5 model includes the gadgets featured in Goldfinger, if the Aston Martin V12 Vanquish model will feature the gadgets to be featured in Bond 20. We'll wait and see!

And big thank you to John for sending the news into us!

  8. Minichamps To Produce Bond 20 Scaled Vehicles

    By daniel on 2002-02-03

Minichamps have announced that they will be producing scaled 1:18 cars from Bond 20 and in celebration of the 40th Annivsary of James Bond.

The three cars that Minichamp will produce are the Aston Martin Vanquish, the Jaguar XKR Roadster and the Ford Thunderbird (2002 model). Delivery will begin in November 2002, however, if pictures of the models are release earlier we'll be sure to let you know!

Of interest you'll note that the flyer above indicates that distribution of the models will occur in the Middle East and Europe only. Perhaps another company will create models for the United States.

A big thanks to Kevin for sending that news into us!

  9. Premiere Of Bond 12 Inch Figures

    By daniel on 2002-02-03

Just a short reminder for all our readers. The Sideshow Toy range of 12" James Bond figures will premiere at the American International Toy Fair. The Toy Fair will take place on February 10 till February 14 in New York City. For further details on the Toy Fair please visit the official site.

At this stage Sideshow Toy have not commented if they will reveal the whole of their Bond collection.

Sideshow Toy will be in Booth 2583 in the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center (11th Avenue between W. 34th & W. 39th Streets).

If anyone happens to attend the Toy Fair and could send in some details of the Bond collection to [email protected] I'd appreciate it.

  10. New Collectors Items Available From SpyGuise

    By daniel on 2002-01-29

As CommanderBond.net always likes to keep an eye on things happening in the world of James Bond we thought we'd mention some of the new items available at SpyGuise at the moment that may be of itnerest to you.

For those interested in the literature side of James Bond SpyGuise now has a copy of the Dr. No Comic Book published in 1962. What makes this one special is it's a rare Greek edition. It's available here. Also available in the way of books is the interesting book '003 1/2: JAMES BOND JUNIOR Book' available here. Or perhaps the Playboy magazine is more your style? The 1967 You Only Live Twice issue is also available.
