    A new audiobook edition of By Royal Command, the fifth Young James Bond novel by Charlie Higson, is slated for release this upcoming May.

    The Young Bond Dossier reports that this unabridged edition of By Royal Command will be published by Chivers Audiobooks.

    Read by actor Nathaniel Parker, this 8-CD set is available to order online at the BBC Audiobooks website where it retails for £36.60:

    All four of Higson’s previous Young Bond adventures are also available to purchase as unabridged audiobooks from the website (they are additionally available as less expensive abridged editions, which are available from numerous retailers).

    The Young James Bond releases in Germany just keep on coming. Following up the recent hardback releases of Charlie Higson’s SilverFin and By Royal Command, the Young Bond Dossier reports today that Double or Die will also be released in that format this upcoming July.

    Titled GoldenBoy in Germany, Higson’s third Young Bond adventure was originally released as a paperback alongside the UK release back in January 2007.

    Available in paperback for the first time is Higson’s third novel in the series, Double or Die.

    Fans of Charlie Higson’s Young James Bond series will be pleased to learn that By Royal Command has been nominated for the 2009 Children’s Book of the Year award by the Galaxy British Book Awards.

    As reported at The Young Bond Dossier, fans can visit the WHSmith website in order to cast their vote for the fifth Young Bond adventure.

    One simply has to visit the website via this link and select By Royal Command from the listing. No registration required.

    Two rounds of voting will take place between January and March, with the winning book to be announced this April.

    It’s still a long wait, but at least there is finally a release date announced for Charlie Higson’s By Royal Command in the United States: May 2010.

    The Young Bond Dossier reports that Disney Publishing stated they are aiming for this date for the fifth Young James Bond novel.

    Young Bond fans in the US have unfortunately had to wait roughly a year or longer than those in the UK for the last few novels. By Royal Command was originally published this past September in the UK.

    Higson’s fourth Young Bond novel, Hurricane Gold, which originally debuted in September 2007 in the UK, will finally be arriving in the US this April.

  10. No 'Hurricane Gold' Audiobook From Random House

    The Young Bond Dossier informs us today that there are currently no plans for an audiobook edition of Charlie Higson’s Hurricane Gold in the United States.

    Publishers Random House Audio and Listening Library, who released unabridged editions of Higson’s first three Young James Bond adventures in the US, have stated they will not be for this fourth novel.

    However, the Dossier does point out that another company may pick up the rights for the audiobook and eventually end up releasing one. We’ll have to wait and see.
