  1. 'By Royal Command' On Independent Booksellers Prize Shortlist

    Charlie Higson’s latest Young James Bond adventure has been included on the children’s shortlist for a 2009 Independent Booksellers Prize.

    The Young Bond Dossier reports the news that 2008’s By Royal Command will compete against 9 other selected titles.

    Fans can vote for By Royal Command as their favourite by picking up a voting postcard in participating retail stores or emailing their choice to [email protected] before 28 August 2009. The winner will be announced in September.

    The following shortlist of titles was voted for by Booksellers Association members from a longlist derived from sales data of bestselling books at independent bookshops.

  2. 'SilverFin' Graphic Novel Slated For July 2010 In US

    Good news today for Young James Bond fans in the US. The Young Bond Dossier reports that SilverFin: The Graphic Novel is slated to be released in July 2010.

    Disney Publishing will release the graphic novel adaptation of Charlie Higson’s first Young Bond novel in both hardback and papeback formats.

    SilverFin: The Graphic Novel first arrived in the UK this past October and featured more than 300 full-colour illustrations from artist Kev Walker. Click here for CommanderBond.net’s detailed review.

    The Young Bond Dossier has launched an all-new competition that Young Bond fans won’t want to miss.

    In conjunction with publisher Puffin Books, they are offering five sets of two tickets to a special preview screening of a short film for Charlie Higson’s new book The Enemy. With make-up done by a movie professional, this promotional film is said to be amazing!

    This exclusive VIP screening will be held in London on Tuesday, 23 June and will be followed by a Q&A with Charlie Higson. To enter the drawing for these incredibly limited tickets, all you have to do is answer the following question:

    Who directed the celebrated 1968 cult zombie film Night of the Living Dead?

    A Hard Man to Kill

    As expected, this new short story is set between the events of Hurricane Gold and By Royal Command (Higson first mentioned this way back in October of 2007).

    It features James Bond and Aunt Charmain aboard a French ocean liner on their way back to England from Mexico. However, when a villain and mysterious convict show up on the same ship, the journey quickly becomes anything but relaxing…

  9. 'By Royal Command' Unabridged Audiobook Now Shipping

    The unabridged By Royal Command audiobook is now shipping from the BBC Audiobooks website.

    The latest Young Bond audiobook is published by Chivers Audiobooks and is read by actor Nathaniel Parker. The 8-CD set retails for £36.60.

    Higson’s four previous Young Bond novels – SilverFin, Blood Fever, Double or Die and Hurricane Gold – are all to available to purchase as unabridged audiobooks from the BBC Audiobooks website. All five novels are also available in more affordable abridged versions, which can be bought from numerous sellers.

    By Royal Command is the fifth book in Charlie Higson’s bestselling series, which explores James Bond’s roots. It was first published as a hardcover in September 2008. A paperback edition is due out next month.

    Young James Bond fans now have yet another reason to look forward to the paperback release of Charlie Higson’s By Royal Command next month: it will contain a preview of an all-new Young Bond story by Higson.

    The Young Bond Dossier alerts us that an extract of this new story (title still to be announced) will be featured in the UK paperback edition of By Royal Command, due for release on 28 May.

    The story will be published in full later this year in the recently announced Danger Society: The Young Bond Dossier.
