  2. New 'Quantum of Solace' Jet Action Sequence Details

    By Devin Zydel on 2008-02-29

    WARNING: Plot spoiler

Details have been posted on DailyBulletin.com regarding yet another action sequence 007 fans can look forward to once Quantum of Solace hits theatres later this year.

Jet pilot Steve Hinton has revealed that the 22nd James Bond film will feature a jet action sequence involving Daniel Craig’s 007. ‘I’m the typical bad guy, trying to shoot down James Bond, who’s flying in another airplane,’ Hinton said.

Hinton recently spent three weeks in Mexico, returning 15 February, for the film shoot in which he flew a Marchetti, an Italian military trainer jet, outfitted with machine guns.

Hinton is president of the Planes of Fame Museum, located in Chino, California and Valle, Arizona. His non-Bond work with jets includes Pearl Harbor, We Were Soldiers, Always and the upcoming Iron Man.

Besides these new action sequence details, Hinton was sworn to secrecy about the Quantum of Solace production other than the details already known: locations and the plot picking right up after 2006’s Casino Royale.

‘Which I thought was the best one,’ Hinton added.

  5. 'The Battle For Bond' To Be Pulled

    By Charles Helfenstein on 2008-02-28

In a strange development that could only be tied to the lawsuit magnet codenamed Thunderball, CommanderBond.net has recently learned that the Ian Fleming Will Trust is banning the best-selling book The Battle for Bond, which details the origin of Bond’s convaluted trip to the silver screen.

Tomahawk Publishers have suspended sales of the book, with the notice of the Ian Fleming Will Trust’s action prominently displayed above the book on their web site.

Sources tell CBn that the action is related to Fleming correspondence from the Thunderball lawsuit which had never been previously published.

CBn interviewed author Robert Sellers about his landmark work and have asked for his comment on the matter.

As of this writing, copies of the book are still available on Amazon.co.uk and the Amazon US web sites:

Even though he doesn’t turn 40 years old until this upcoming Sunday, 2 March, that didn’t stop Daniel Craig from celebrating with more than 300 guests while taking a break from Quantum of Solace filming in Panama.

La Estrella de Panama reports that the actor held a party a few days in advance of his birthday at the Melia Panama Canal hotel in Colón, a Caribbean Sea coast sea port city.

Members of the cast and crew on the latest James Bond film, currently shooting throughout Panama, were present at the event.

  8. No Plans To Release Revamped 'GoldenEye'

    By Matt Weston on 2008-02-28

Another week, another round of rumours surrounding the release of a spruced up version of Rare’s classic James Bond video game, GoldenEye.

With XBox World 360‘s latest issue – now on sale – promising a world exclusive look at the canceled game, the mist is clearing as to the title’s true status.

MundoRare went straight to the horse’s mouth and scored this key quote from a Microsoft representative: “We would love to release GoldenEye on Xbox Live Arcade.”

“There is no truth to the rumour of plans to release GoldenEye on Xbox Live Arcade. While we share the gaming community’s enthusiasm over the possibility, we do not have the necessary rights to release the game on Xbox Live Arcade.”

The website’s sources imply Nintendo is at the core of the holdup, with the company reportedly blocking a revamped version of the game to be released on Microsoft’s platform.

The clarification comes as two more screenshots emerge, depicting updated versions of GoldenEye‘s “Facility” and “Bunker” levels.

Given how far in development the updated game appears, it seems unfair to dismiss all hope of a release. But for now, GoldenEye 007 on Xbox Live Arcade looks to be stuck firmly in Development Hell.

Activision will produce a brand new 007 game later this year, said to be an adaptation of Daniel Craig’s second James Bond picture, Quantum of Solace.

Stay tuned to CommanderBond.net for all the latest news and coverage regarding all the James Bond 007 video games.

    WARNING: Minor plot spoiler

As earlier reported, Entertainment Tonight got their sneak preview of Quantum of Solace, which aired earlier tonight for several 007 fans in the US. The show featured a set visit and included brief interviews with members of the cast and crew, including Daniel Craig.

A video featuring some, but not all of the set visit and interviews from the show is available here on the official website.

‘He’s lost the love of his life and he’s angry about it,’ Craig said in describing where James Bond starts off in the film. ‘But he’s also got a job to do so he’s got to keep it under control.’

When asked if he had any say in the casting of the film’s Bond girls, he said: ‘I’m involved all the way all the way through; or they pretend to involve me. I mean, they ask my opinion and I have my say.’

The Bond star also fielded questions regarding his upcoming 40th birthday, whether or not 007 will fall in love again and the return of the Aston Martin DBS. ‘It’s there. Oh yeah. God yes. I was driving one on the test track as fast as I liked.’ How fast? ‘155.’

Gemma Arterton (MI6 Agent Fields) also took time away from filming to speak with Entertainment Tonight.

‘It was my first day,’ she replied when asked about her love scene with Craig’s Bond. ‘That’s why it was a fantastic first day. He’s a fantastic kisser.’

Commenting on the casting of Arterton, director Marc Forster said: ‘She just came in and I was like “oh my God, it’s her.”‘ She just nailed [her audition]. The thing is with Gemma is that she’s funny, she’s witty, she’s gorgeous, she’s smart. She had every quality I was looking for and I thought “that’s it. That’s her.”‘

One bit that is not included in the above video was the set visit. The ET reporter got a chance to examine the film’s party sequence in Panama, which required over 700 extras present.

Additionally, the show gave a brief look at the filming of a ‘pivotal scene’ between Craig, Arterton, Olga Kurylenko (who plays Camille) and Mathieu Amalric (villain Dominic Greene) at the top of an outside staircase. As the reporter describes, Bond, Camille, Fields and Greene are all involved in a confrontation and someone eventually ends up taking a fall down the stairs.

The Insider got an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Quantum of Solace as the 22nd James Bond film continues production in Panama.

Interviewer Lara Spencer got a chance to speak with Daniel Craig, thanking the star for allowing her to ‘be on the set at a very pivotal moment.’ Craig was taking a break from shooting a party sequence for the film which required over 700 extras.

‘He’s been hurt,’ Craig started off. ‘I mean, he’s been badly hurt. This organization that he’s been chasing after are responsible for the death of the woman he loves.’

Craig also mentioned that the film has ‘the same, if not more’ action than 2006’s Casino Royale and that he was participating in as much as possible.

‘We get to go to places I’ve never been and it’s some of the best experiences in my life.’

Viewers also get a sneak peak at one of the film’s sets which will require four ‘very long’ night shoots culminating in ‘one very pivotal scene.’

The Insider also briefly spoke with Bond girls Gemma Arterton and Olga Kurylenko.

Arterton spoke about her initial surprise of shooting a love scene on her very first day on the set. But when asked if it’s her character that Bond falls in love with, she kept quiet. ‘I can’t say. Maybe he does. I’d love it if he did.’

‘It’s alot of pressure when you’re a Bond girl because you get compared to all the other ones.’

Finishing off the interview, when asked if the male viewers would fall in love with the new leading lady in Quantum of Solace, Craig merely replied: ‘I think they will.’

And yes, that swiming trunk question was asked, yet again.
