  1. Minnie Driver?

    By daniel on 2000-10-05

You can add actress Minnie Driver to your list of hopefuls for Bond 20. That’s according to ShowbizIreland anyway.

Driver has suddenly pulled out of Michael Flatley’s upcoming film called Lord Of The Dance which is due to begin shooting this month. ShowbizIreland reports that their sources have told them the actress is trying to slate up a role as a Bond Girl in Bond 20.

Interesting to note is the fact that Driver already has the contacts around EON Productions to get the role. Remember that girl in Zuchovsky’s bar in GoldenEye? Bond said she was strangling a cat, anyway, that’s Driver’s 20 second cameo in a Bond film. The girl already has been in a Bond movie and has the connections to go with it. Whether or not she’ll get the role is a totally different matter!

  4. Eco-Friendly Bond

    By daniel on 2000-08-11

Pierce Brosnan wants to make Bond a more environmentally friendly spy in Bond 20, that’s according to a report on the IMDB.

Brosnan is now promoting the Forest Stewardship Council, which promotes world conservation, and sources close to the actor claim he wants his 007 to be more eco-friendly. He explains, “The FSC label guarantees that the forest a product came from is managed to protect clean water, wildlife habitat and recreation. That’s why World Wildlife Fund, The Wilderness Society, Rainforest Alliance and Natural Resources Defense Council are all active supporters of the non- profit Forest Stewardship Council… Conserving the world’s forests requires action. You don’t have to be a movie star to be an action hero. Help conserve the world’s forests. Look for products carrying the FSC label.” And Brosnan is keen to take his environmental concerns further – by giving Bond an eco edge. A source says, “Pierce has always been keen to back environmental issues and now he’s trying to persuade the powers that be to give his James Bond an eco side to his character.”

The full report can be found on the IMDB here for a short time only. The past three Bond villains have been a former spy, a psychotic media mogul and a pain immune gun for hire – an unstable ecoterrorist is actually a good match.

  5. John Cork Talks Briefly About Bond 20

  6. David Arnold Confirmed!

    By David Winter on 2000-07-26

‘Icebreaker’ over at 007Forever has reported that Composer David Arnold has spoken out on Bond 20. He has stated that for the next Bond film he wants a “fast song” for the title credits as “he wants to send Brosnan out in style” (please note that it is just his view that this will be Brosnan’s last film).

Also John Cork, the man responsible for the recent ‘Special Edition DVD’ range of the series, was interviewed on British radio and confirmed the 2002 release date (this could still change).

  7. David Arnold Speaks Bond 20

    By David Winter on 2000-07-26

‘Icebreaker’ over at 007Forever talked with some people that had recently interviewed Composer David Arnold who dropped some gossip – seems he will be back for the next Bond film and wants a “fast song” for the title credits as “he wants to send Brosnan out in style” (not a direct quote, but close enough). It would seem that Arnold believes (though its only a hunch of his) that Brosnan will step down after the next film, outlined as his last in his contract. However, Arnold wouldn’t be in the ‘know’ so to speak as to whether Brosnan has been signed to further films. Also on that note, financially Brosnan is the most successful Bond and it’s likely that EON will try and bring him back for a few more films just to secure the Bond franchise.

  8. Patrick Stewart Rumoured As Villain

    By David Winter on 2000-07-21

British Magazine ‘The Metro’ has reported that Shakesperian Actor Patrick Stewart (Star Trek, X-Men) is in preliminary talks to star in Bond 20 as the villain. Patrick Stewart is a very strong actor, one who would definetley play a brilliant Bond villain. However, there isn’t any more news to report on this right now though we will have more in later editions, thanks to ‘Scott’ for the tip-off.

  9. Filming Date From Pinewood

    By David Winter on 2000-07-14

Following up from the 9th’s news about a 2001 filming date we have this exclusive from ‘The Dandy’ concerning the latest buzz at Pinewood Studios:

“I was speaking to … and … from Pinewood Studio’s yesterday … and they seem to agree that filming for the project will begin somewhere between March and June of 2001. Also circulating Pinewood is Tom Cruise’s interest in the Bond series, however, both sources have stipulated that this rumour is completely fasle and is idel tea-room gossip.”

As with all material that reaches CBn in such a manner, it has to be stipulated that this is only a rumoured filming date and the actual filming date could be vastly different.

  10. Filming Date Revealed?

    By daniel on 2000-07-09

British Magazine ‘Front’ has announced that Bond 20 will begin filming around March of 2001.

While no further details are revealed a March filming date would indicate a release date in early 2002 for Bond 20. With Bond films having been released near to the Christmas holiday season it seems an unlikely time for the cameras to start rolling.
