  1. Kevin Spacey Up For Role & Charlize Theron

    By daniel on 2000-11-25

Lots of news today, mostly concering Kevin Spacey who has become what you could call a Bond favourite right now.

Firstly. Rory sent in this info to us from The Daily Mirror in the UK. They believe that Kevin Spacey will be given a role in Bond 20 as a villain. However, as Rory points out, they are a a UK tabloid which has gotten most of its facts wrong. Rory also points out Spacey’s busy filming schedule: “Spacey is currently filming a movie called K-PAX and I believe he has some other movies lined up after that as well.” Thanks for Rory for the great tip off there.

I thought that is where the rumour would die, however, regular tipster Praveen sent in this e-mail which not only again mentioned Kevin Spacey but Brosnan wanting Charlize Theron for the Bond girl. Praveen tells us he got this info from a French Bond site and did the translation himself, he’s not perfect with his French so here’s what he sent in. We left in all the mistakes as well, so no, don’t blame us 🙂

The production of the 20th James Bond is at the embryonic stages, but that does not prevent Pierce Brosnan from having ideas on the possible partners whom it could have for this film. According to an interview given to the British magazine Popcorn, Pierce Brosnan announces that it he would like to work with Kevin Spacey and Charlize Theron.

He describes Spacey like ” a fantastic actor to have in film ” and thinks that Theron would make excellent a Bond Girl because she is “a splendid creature “.
The development of the history is in its infancy and Pierce Brosnan indicates that it does not have any idea of the script, but denies the persistent rumours of a possible mission in Ireland. However he finds the idea sympathetic nerve and suggests that a disaster organization invests an Irish log and serf of an old tower of guet to hide there a spaceship or a nuclear weapon.

While waiting, Pierce Brosnan just comes to finish working with an adaptation of the novel by John Le’ Carre, The Tailor of Panama. He there interprets an agent of MI-6, but specifies that it is an antithesis of James Bond.

Yes I know that’s pretty hard to read, but it’s worth it. I especially like Brosnan’s idea of a script for the movie, sadly that’s the most garbled paragraph. If you’re looking for a Charlize Theron page try here.

And that again seemed like the extent of the rumour until Craig sent in this report. I must say it hasn’t been confirmed so if it’s not true we’ve warned you.

Highlight To Read: Hi! The rumours were true! Kevin Spacey has been CONFIRMED as the villain for Bond 20. I heard the news this morning. It was on GMTV here in the UK. I nearly choked on my corn-flakes when I heard it! They also confirmed that Bond 20 will be Pierce Brosnan’s last Bond film.
So there you have it, Kevin Spacey galoure today. Let’s see how this all turns out!!

  2. Kevin Spacey alias SPECTRE No#1??

    By daniel on 2000-11-25

The rumours have been circulating for quite a while now. And still, EON haven’t given away anything about the film.

However, the latest rumour, is that, Academy Award winner, Kevin Spacey has supposedly had talks with EON about appearing in Bond 20. Spacey’s agents haven’t said anything officially yet about this. The people at EON are also claiming these all as rumours, and nothing
“We haven’t made any official offers as yet,” told a source at IGN FilmForce. “Sure, Spacey would be great to have on board but we don’t even have a final script as yet.” No script!! However they do continue to say; “Not as such – there are still a lot of ideas, many of which conflict with one another. I expect it to come together very soon, however.”

  3. Michelle Yeoh To Return

    By David Winter on 2000-11-03

Look’s like Minnie Driver might have some competition for Bond 20. In an interview with Hong Kong’s Apple Daily former Bond girl Michelle Yeoh, who played agent Wai Lin in Tomorrow Never Dies, has revealed that Pierce Brosnan is very keen to get her back for the next Bond film. This is more than a simple wish for Brosnan though, Yeoh’s agent is apparently already conducting negotiations with EON about such an arrangement. If Yeoh does return she won’t be the first Bond girl, but seemingly she will return to the same role which may leave her only a small role in Bond 20. But I’d still love to see her back in the Bond movies as personally I think Agent Wai Lin should get atleast one book devoted to her.

  4. Tom Jones Singing Title Song?

    By daniel on 2000-10-26

Move over Robbie Williams … here comes Tom Jones!

People News have reported that singer Tom Jones, who has already crooned the hit theme song Thunderball, is being lined up to sing the theme tune for the next James Bond movie. “PeopleNews can reveal that the producers of the next 007 film are attempting to sign up the Welsh singer to perform the song, contrary to rumours that the honour would go to Robbie Williams.” PeopleNew also quote a source within the Bond pre-production team who said: ‘It’s early days, but we are desperately keen to have Jones do it. The recent themes have not been huge successes, but Tom Jones is a legend and the song would almost certainly be massive.’

The report has claimed that the working title for the film is ‘Beyond The Ice’, despite it having been repeatedly denied by Eon Productions, perhaps showing the whole report as inaccurate.

  5. Tom Jones Returns To The Bond Song

The only thing I find disturbing in this report is that the claim that the working title for the film is ‘Beyone The Ice’. For those of you who have followed Bond 20 news you’ll know this is a rumour from around the time that Edward Woodward was rumoured to be playing the new M. However, they stand by their guns. Perhaps this shows there report to be false, perhaps it also shows some truth in previous rumours. Who knows? Only time will tell…

  6. Brosnan In Ireland & Comments On Bond

    By David Winter on 2000-10-14

ShowBizIreland.Com has exclusively interviewed actor Pierce Brosnan and he has confirmed that he will be in Ireland in 2001 to film a secret movie. Brosnan refused to comment on what the movie was and would it be Bond 20. Though he did say “I don’t know if Bond will be made here.” From what I’ve personally heard the project will in fact be an Irish Dreamtime Production and non-Bond related. Irish Dreamtime are responsible for Thomas Crown Affiar, despite this; we’ll keep you posted.

  7. EON Debunk Some More

    By daniel on 2000-10-14

It would seem that most of the rumours about Bond 20 are false, that’s according to Anne Bennett, Director of Marketing at Eon Productions, who says that “everything is up in the air at the moment” in regards to Bond 20.

Bennet says that ‘Robbie Williams is not singing the Bond song, Judi Dench is returning for the next film…” and she has also denied yesterdays talk of Bond’s new car.

Despite this news, Australia’s “The Herald Sun” has again published news of the detail between Eon Productions and Aston Martin. Along with the news they have also published more details of the car and two pictures. For the full article visit Empire Online.

  9. Bond's New Car?

    By daniel on 2000-10-12

It seems that Bond has left BMW and is moving back to the Aston Martin’s. Sadly it seems that few fans will be able to get behind the wheel of Bond’s new car which will apparently come with a price tag of US$270,000.

Ever since he drove the DB5 with its ejector seat and machineguns in the battle against Goldfinger, the Aston Martin has been James Bond’s favourite car.

Now, after a brief flirtation with BMWs, 007 is roaring back in the British firm’s latest model – the $540,000 Vanquish.

Bond star Pierce Brosnan will take the wheel of the 320kmh super-car in the next 007 film.

Built of carbon fibre and aluminium with a six-litre V12 engine, the Aston Martin Vanquish can accelerate to 100kmh in under 4.5 seconds.

Bond’s BMW era ended with the conclusion of the German firm’s $215 million three-movie product placement deal that put Brosnan at the wheel of the BMW Z3 in GoldenEye, a 7-series saloon in Tomorrow Never Dies, and a Z8 sports car in The World Is Not Enough.

Ford, Aston Martin’s owner is stepping into the breach with a deal worth about $270 million.

“James Bond is going back to his roots and will be again driving one of the world’s most exclusive cars,” a Ford boss said.

Though Bond’s trusty DB5 still makes the occasional guest appearance in 007 movies the Vanquish is likely to steal the roadshow in the next big-screen blockbuster.

An Aston Martin insider said Eon Productions has been sent details of the Vanquish and designers have shown how one could be fitted with a host of 007 gadgets.

The car will make is world debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March. The first batch of 300 has been sold in advance and there is already a year long waiting list. About 30 percent will got to UK customers, 30 percent to the US and 30 percent to mainland Europe.

The two-door Vanquish can be bought as a foor-seta or a two-seat with extra rear space for matching designer luggage. Half the owners will have their cars customised, pushing the final price well beyond $540,000.

The Vanquish started life as a prototype “Project Vantage” nearly three years ago. But such as the public response when it was shown at the Detroit Motor Show in January 1998 the company decided to put in into production.

Aston Martin has invested more than $5.4 million in its plant at Newport Pagnell, Buckinghampshire, to develop the new model which replaces the V8 Vantage.

The Vanquish was designed by Dumfries-born Ian Callum, creator of the Aston Martin DB7. “I’m very pleased with the final product,” he said. “It has remained true to the spirit of the original prototype. It’s been three years’ hard work but well worth it.”

Aston Martin chieft executive Dr Ulrich Bez said “This will be the most dynamic, technically advanced and sophisticated new model ever introduced by Aston Martin.”

“It will provide exhilarating performance with impeccable handling. It’s a true driver’s car.”

  10. Robbie Williams To Perform Title Track

    By David Winter on 2000-10-12

To begin with it; Swedish Channel ZTV has reported that British Singer Robbie William will be performing for the title track for Bond 20. Also, comes news of the title of the track, Highlight To Read: Love Is A Danger which could easily point to the title of the next Bond movie. Though it is unlikely for a title to have already been selected it is possible for EON Productions to have given Bond 20 a working title other than ‘Bond 20’. Thanks to Damien for the tip-off.
