  1. Brosnan Wants Bond In Australia

    By Tim Roth on 2002-12-10

He’s an International jet-setter, but the cinematic James Bond has never ventured to Australia and only author Raymond Benson sent him on a mission there. Pierce Brosnan has, however, professed a desire to see a future James Bond film set in Australia.

Melbourne based newspaper The Age reports:

    Brosnan to Bond in Australia
    Tuesday 10 December 2002, 08:30AM

The latest Bond flick, to the admission of the screenwriter and director, is more of the same – a sexy man who saves the world, gets the girl and drives the hot cars.

But the next one, the 21st in the series and Pierce Brosnan’s fifth as the irresistible British spy, could be set against a backdrop of two Australian icons, the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge.

Brosnan is keen, as is screenwriter Robert Wade’s wife.

But Wade was not so sure. “I mean it’s wonderful, full of Australians though,” he stumbled.

“No I mean it’s something about Australians … you’re too nice to have explosions going off around you,” he said as he tried to recover from the gaffe.

Bond was a little more endearing: “I’m up for it, I’d love it, sure, great town, great place.”

Despite Brosnan’s and Wade’s comments on Australia, the ‘desire’ is similair to Brosnan’s desire to film Die Another Day in Ireland.

Pierce Brosnan, Rosamund Pike and Robert Wade have all spent the past few days touring Australia to promote the impending release of Die Another Day to the Australian market. News.com.au  have published a similair article, here, which includes a picture of Brosnan and Pike.

  2. Bond 21: Who Will Be The Director?

    By Tim Roth on 2002-12-08

While Die Another Day is running the 3rd week in the United States and isn’t out in many countries in the world, the first rumours about Bond 21 surface.

Dark Horizons report that Hong Kong filmmaker Tsui Hark (“Black Mask”, “Zu Warriors”) is in talks to direct the 21st Bond movie.

The 51 year old Hark is the 2nd director mentioned in connection with Bond 21, which is due to be out in either 2004 or 2005. Pierce Brosnan himself wants Die Another Day director Lee Tamahori back.

  3. Bond 21 To Take Place in Germany?

    By Tim Roth on 2002-11-22

The Mayor of Berlin, Klaus Wowereit, confirmed talks with MGM about a shooting of Bond 21 in the German capital. Berlin located newspaper “Tagesspiegel” reports that Wowereit talked to different studios during an US journey last week. According to the paper also negotiations with MGM about a shooting in Berlin and near Berlin located film studios Babelsberg took place. While Babelsberg studios don’t know anything about the mayor’s plan, Wowereit seems to be very optimistic.

Babelsberg Studios are Germany’s biggest film studios. Parts of the Berlin scenes for 1983’s “Octopussy” were also shot there.

  4. Halle Berry To Return For Bond 21?

20th Century Fox were holding a press conference this afternoon in Berlin to celebrate the premiere of “Stirb an einem anderen Tag”, the German version of “Die Another Day”. Berry was asked whether the rumours about a Jinx movie series were true, and she answered “These are only rumours, but let me say this: My character Jinx may possibly return in Bond 21. No contract yet, but there are a lot of opportunities.”

  5. German Society Girl Wants To Become Bond Girl

    By Tim Roth on 2002-11-18

Verona Feldbusch, best known in Germany for her affair with “Modern Talking” singer Dieter Bohlen and her show on TV Station RTL, wants to become the new Bond girl in Bond 21. That’s what she told the German Edition of FHM Magazine. Now FHM made some kind of promotion out of that and now you’re able to vote for or against Verona on www.veronaforbond.de. They promise to send the results of the vote to the producers, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.

    save

However, chances for her to become a Bond girl are relatively low as we all know EON doesn’t like the idea of someone promoting himself by using the name of James Bond.

  6. "I'd Love Him To Do Another Bond!"

    By Tim Roth on 2002-10-16

In an interview with Reuters at the Opening Event of the new 007 Exhibition in London, producer Barbara Broccoli was talking about her life connected to Bond and the forthcoming James Bond Movies.

“It is like seeing my whole life,” Broccoli told Reuters at the press launch of the show which was also attended by Christopher Lee (news) and Honor Blackman who fondly recalled their Bond days as Scaramanga and Pussy Galore.

“I am 42. This really is like walking through my whole life,” said Broccoli of the movies that began in 1962 with “Dr No” and reach number 20 next month with “Die Another Day.”

Broccoli said: “I started on school vacations working on the set making tea and coffee. The first one I had a full-time job on was Octopussy. Now I am a producer with my brother Michael Wilson.”

Pierce Brosnan (news) has just starred in his fourth Bond movie and Broccoli would dearly love him to stick with the role which he has said is “like slipping on a comfy pair of old slippers.”

“I’d love him to do another Bond,” Broccoli said. “People always ask me who the next Bond is. That is like asking a bride walking down the aisle who her next husband is going to be.”

And from Sean Connery (news) to Roger Moore (news), she refused to be drawn into the old game about who was the definitive Bond.

“It is like asking someone who is their favorite sibling is. Each one has meant a lot to me growing up and I have been lucky to be friends with them,” she said.

“In fact last night I was with Roger Moore who was celebrating his 75th birthday,” she added.

This will end speculation about Brosnan’s successor for a while. At the end, she made a short statement about Bond’s Future:

Broccoli promises to keep on stirring the Bond movie cocktail for many years to come: “We will keep making them as long as the public wants to see them.”

But would she still be making Bond movies in another 40 years? She laughed and said: “Let’s hope we are on a beach somewhere having a gin and tonic on my 82nd birthday.”

    Some great things here!

  7. Bond 21’s Aston Martin Revealed?

    By daniel on 2002-08-06

When Aston Martin signed to have the Aston Martin V12 Vanquish in Die Another Day they signed a three-film contract, so you can expect to see an Aston Martin in Bond 21 and Bond 22.

Well it seems we may have just gotten our first glimpse of Bond 21’s Aston Martin thanks to three Spy photos.

The above photo is of Aston Martin’s latest car (still in development), currently codenamed AM305. It is the car tipped as being the next Aston Martin DB5.

The DB5 is a smaller car than any of the cars Aston Martin are currently producing, and in modern terms is best compared to the Porsche Carrera. And that’s the market that this new car will directly take on, it’s Aston Martin’s competition for the Porsche GT3. Any how better to promote the new car than in a James Bond film?

However, if you’re not to keen on the cars current don’t worry. What you see above is only a prototype known as an “engineering mule”. The actual car will carry the signature Aston Martin horizontal grille opening and side cooling vents not featured on the above model. Furthermore, the final design is expected to draw heavily on the Aston Martin DB4 and DB5, whereas, the above model draws heavily on the DB7.

Production of the new car awaits construction of a new factory on the grounds of the Land Rover technical center in Gaydon, England. The new factory will be dedicated to producing the new car, which is expected on the market for 2004 or 2005.

Such a release date just happens to perfectly co-incide with the release of Bond 21.

  8. David Bowie Keen To Play Villain

    By daniel on 2002-07-29

Bond 21 hasn't even moved in to production, yet newspapers world-wide are already hot on so-called 'exclusives'.

Todays rumour comes from 'The Jakarta Times' who have reported that David Bowie is keen to play the villain in Bond 21.

To sum it up in two words? Fat chance.

  9. Will Halle Berry Return In Bond 21?

    By David Winter on 2002-07-27

Halle Berry's character Jinx has been the most speculated and debated character of Die Another Day to date. It all began with Berry's revelation that Jinx was a villain, then there was some backstepping with Berry saying
her character wasn't actually a villain.

While her exact role to date isn't quite known we'd like to present two pieces of 'evidence' which could shed more light on Jinx. And if it sheds no more light, it should definetley add to the speculation.

    Spoiler Warning (Highlight To Read)

The first bit of information to be presented is one recently discovered,
however, it is dated. It comes from a BBC America news clip of the press
conference in Cadiz. It’s dated sometime in April 2002. A frame from the
    interview is below;

If one pays careful attention to the caption under Halle Berry’s name you’ll
note it reads, The New Blofeld.

So is Halle Berry actually the films villain? By this stage Berry had
‘confirmed’ she’d be appeared in Die Another Day as Bond’s ally.

To add weight to the theory that Berry may actually be the films villain are
    Pierce Brosnan’s recent comments.
In a recent interview Brosnan stated that when Bond turns to Jinx, “even she
turns out to be something that she’s not”.

So is Jinx the films villain? And more importantly, will she return for Bond
    21?

  10. Purvis And Wade Not Yet Signed For Bond 21

    By daniel on 2002-07-27

In brief news, in an interview with English newspaper "Express" screenwriters Neil Purvis and Robert Wade have revealed that they haven't yet signed to write the 21st James Bond screen adventure.

The pair commented, "You can't presume anything in this business."

Seemingly, their return depends on the success of Die Another Day which will be released this November.
