  1. Chris Cornell's 'You Know My Name' Video Premieres

    By Devin Zydel on 2006-10-31

CBn previously reported that the premiere of Chris Cornell’s music video for ‘You Know My Name,’ Casino Royale‘s main title song was set for 31 October on MTV’s ‘Making the Video.’

As scheduled, the video, which is co-written by composer David Arnold made its premiere today and features several shots of previously unreleased sequences in Casino Royale. The majority of which are naturally centered on Daniel Craig as 007 and the gritty aspects of this new film.

While over three different versions of Cornell’s title song have been released over the past few weeks, the version used for the video does include orchestration.

US James Bond fans can watch the video here on MTV, but for all others, the video has also made its way onto YouTube (details here on the CBn Forums.)

  3. Casino Royale TV Spot #4 Airs

    By Devin Zydel on 2006-10-31

The fourth TV spot on US television for Casino Royale has made its way online.

As with the previous three TV spots for the 21st James Bond film, it airs for roughly 30 seconds and can be viewed here on iklipz.

Unfortunately this time, there is little new in terms of scenes from the film. The discussion between Bond and M and the Aston Martin with Vesper Lynd on the road are two included scenes. The new tagline this time is: ‘Before the licence, he had to kill. Before the number, there was the man. On November 17th, James becomes Bond.’

  4. Casino Royale's Torture Sequence Edited For UK Release

    By Devin Zydel on 2006-10-31

The UK rating of 12A was revealed for Casino Royale by the BBFC earlier this month, but there was one question many Bond fans were asking: will the brutal torture sequence between 007 and Le Chiffre remain intact?

The answer has been revealed today. According to the BBFC website, the UK cut of the film, specifically the torture sequence, has been edited to secure the 12A rating. The full message:

This film was originally seen by the BBFC in an unfinished version, for advice as to the film’s suitability at ’12A’. The BBFC advised the company that the torture scene placed too much emphasis on both the infliction of pain and the sadism of the villain for the requested ’12A’ category. When the completed version of the film was submitted for classification, reductions to the torture sequence had been made, including the removal of lingering shots of the rope, close shots of Bond’s facial reaction and the substitution of a more distant shot of the beating compared to the original version. This re-edited version of the scene was considered acceptable at ’12A’, where the Guidelines permit violence provided there is no dwelling on detail or emphasis on injuries.

The US release of Casino Royale, which is rated PG-13, contains the entire torture sequence uncut.

Daniel Craig stars as “007” James Bond, the smoothest, sexiest, most lethal agent on Her Majesty’s Secret Service in Casino Royale. Based on the first Bond book written by Ian Fleming, the story recounts the making of the world’s greatest secret agent. Martin Campbell is directing the 21st adventure in the 44-year-old franchise, from a screenplay by Neal Purvis & Robert Wade and Paul Haggis.

James Bond’s first “007” mission leads him to Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen), banker to the world’s terrorists. In order to stop him, and bring down the terrorist network, Bond must beat Le Chiffre in a high-stakes poker game at Casino Royale. Bond is initially annoyed when a beautiful British Treasury official, Vesper Lynd (Eva Green) is assigned to deliver his stake for the game and watch over the government’s money. But, as Bond and Vesper survive a series of lethal attacks by Le Chiffre and his henchmen, a mutual attraction develops leading them both into further danger and events that will shape Bond’s life forever.
