  1. CBn Update

    By David Winter on 2002-06-27

We're nearly all in one piece after the server move. We're waiting for the last few sites (including the forums) to be transfered to our new server.

We'll notify forum members via email, the minute that the forums are back online.

    Thanks for sticking with us.

If you'd like to help CBn by sending us a donation, click on the button below:

A big thankyou to those who donated earlier on in the year; thanks to them, our new server has become possible.

  2. CBn Is Moving Hosts!

    By David Winter on 2002-06-24

Please stick with us while we transfer to our own DEDICATED SERVER!!!

This will take a few days to complete, and then we'll be running better than ever!

Thanks to all the people who have donated in the past as we have used some of the funds to pay for this. When you all see the new site on the server, you'll see why we still need donations to keep us on the server – every penny/cent helps.

    Thanks for your continued support!

  3. CBn & CMGN Main Sites Back Up

    By David Winter on 2002-06-23

The CBn and CMGN main sites are now back up online.

However, the content is around a month old as all the articles we had after switching to the new server have been lost.

Please be patient while we get this month's content back online for your fix of Bond.

  4. HELP COMMANDERBOND.NET!

    By David Winter on 2002-04-20

It's the same story on the Internet these days, can't get something for nothing. Many sites are now either subscription based, or use advertising as a means of income. CBn has been totally financed by it's own staff and donations, nothing more. We don't want to advertise on the site, as it will just become irritating, all those pesky pop-up adverts etc…however, we need income from somewhere to keep the site running.

The server that CBn and CMGN are hosted on is kindly maintained by Greg Nolle. Without his continued deovtion to the site, we wouldn't have been online for the last 2 years!

The server is fine, but is just taking a beating from the odd million visitors we are currently getting each month.

The server takes the beating from the memory transfers, so things like images and downloads do the most harm.

What we need to do, at least, is move our downloads somewhere else, or introduce a queuing situation like at FilePlanet that keeps you in a queue, so that you get a fast download, but also keeps the site running smoothly.

We're looking into both of these ideas at the moment, but for now, CBn needs help financially, we only have £7 left in CBn's bank account. If we're to make any judgement on what action we can take, we need some donations!

With previous donations from Brett (Blofeld's Cat), John (Zencat), Barbara Emanuele and Mr. Raymond Benson, we've updated the server to what it is now (hence why we now only have £7 left). To go any further, we need more donations to do anything.

Please give anything you can, whatever amount, every penny goes into the site.

  5. CBn Forums Get A Facelift

    By daniel on 2002-04-17

Thanks to Evan Willnow (known in the forums as Mister Asterix) the CommanderBond.net Forums have recently had a face lift!

The face lift has changed the great functionality of the forums, what's new are some great graphics! But you'll have to visit the forums to see them!

The face-lift comes two days after the forums reached a membership on 600 people! However, in those two days that membership has grown to 612!

So the question still remains, are you a member of the Internets most successful James Bond discussion boards? If not click here to see what you're missing.

  6. Forum Members Hit 600! Are You A Member?

    By daniel on 2002-04-15

The James Bond Forums, hosted by CommanderBond.net, have just reached a membership total of 600 users! This makes them the most successful James Bond discussion place on the Internet!

The forums have been running since February 2001 and since then have hosted over 2600 separate conversations (topics), which makes up the over 28800 messages that are currently in the forums at this time. Needless to say, the Die Another Day Forums are the most popular as every aspect of Die Another Day is always being discussed and all the break news can always be found there!

The question is, are you one of the 600 members? If not, then take a look around the James Bond Forums and if you like what you see register!

See you there! And thank you to all our members who have helped make the forums a huge success!

  8. The Facts Of Bond – Part 2

    By David Winter on 2002-02-02

Part 2 of "The Facts Of Bond" talks about the position of 007 after September 11th – how it's been affected by the terrorist attacks.

You can see a little taser below – but be sure to read the whole article here.

Because the horrible events of this day not only changed our perspective on safety and world affairs for ever, they also meant the inexorable end of the Bond stories as we knew them: filled with unthinkable and unimaginable events. On september 11th, the Spectre-scenario became reality. A cynic thought, and certainly something we never imagined to happen. But it is inevitably true.

  9. The Facts Of Bond – Part 1

    By David Winter on 2002-01-19

This week marks the beginning of "The Facts Of Bond", a brand new collection of in-depth articles written exclusively for CBn.

Jord's first article can be viewed here. It looks at some of the problems the 21st century Bond is facing.

    And here's a little 'taster':

Because during the 40 years that the Bond franchise is running right now, there was only one film sequence that knew to catch that tense, sensitizing atmosphere that Fleming recalled in Casino Royale. It’s the famous Dr. No sequence wherein we see Sean Connery in a smoky casino, lazily introducing himself after lighting a cigarette, with that unique arrogant and somewhat tired expression on his face. This sequence breathes Fleming all over; the appeal to the senses, the tiredness, the boredom of Bond, not being on active service. We can almost smell the sweat, the greed, and the fear.

  10. A Very Merry Christmas To All

    By daniel on 2001-12-25

Firstly, as Editor of CommanderBond.Net now for just under a year I would like, along with all the staff of CommanderBond.Net, to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. May all your dreams and wishes come true. And the best of peace, health and joy to you and yours. Thank you for all your support this year, it's been greatly appreciated.

Australian based artist and CBn fan Phil Cornell, known to those who use the forums as 'White Persian', has recently completed this one of a kind artwork to celebrate Christmas in a James Bond way. For this image, we can't thank him enough.

I urge all Bond fans to take a very close look at "Q's Sack" to see what goodies you can find in there. You'll all be pleasently surprised I assure you!

And please don't forget to visit the CommanderBond.Net Forums, where we're discussing Christmas and this brilliant image by White Persian. Please leave a message for him! Thank you.

And again, from all the staff at CommanderBond.Net have a Merry and Safe Christmas.

And then Bond remembered. But of course! It was Christmas Eve! God rest ye merry gentlemen, let nothing ye dismay! Bond’s skis hissed an accompaniment as he zigzagged fast down the beautiful snow slope. White Christmas! Well, he’s certainly got himself that.

On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, Ian Fleming
