  3. Charlie Higson On The 'Young Bond Book 3' Working Title

    By Devin Zydel on 2006-08-31

The Young Bond Dossier reports on an update from Charlie Higson regarding the title for Young Bond Book 3.

Calling it perhaps the hardest thing in the process of these James Bond books, Higson simply says ‘I can’t tell you what it’s called because I don’t know.’

Higson reports that his working title for the book, Shoot The Moon (which he quite liked), was ‘savagely rejected’ because it was ‘felt that it sounds a bit wet. There’s something about the “moon” sound that’s a bit soppy, so it was rejected.’

  4. Positive Preview in 'Rolling Stone'

Rolling Stone Cover: 7 September, 2006

The latest issue (7 September, 2006) of Rolling Stone featuring Bob Dylan on the cover has a list of fifteen movies that “are primed to kick up an unusually exciting battle” during the fall/Oscar season.

    9 – Casino Royale

    Daniel Craig, Eva Green

Sacha Baron Cohen, Daniel Craig, Beyonce, and Jack Nicholson

You must be up to your ears already reading about how Pierce Brosnan got pushed aside so that a younger actor (Daniel Craig, 38) could step into the role of James Bond. Internet geeks came down hard on Craig’s toned butt. I might have joined them if Craig didn’t have the acting chops to bust some new moves. He does. Check out Layer Cake or Road to Perdition if you don’t believe me. Plus, the idea of doing James Bond: The Early Years sounds promising. If Casino Royale turns out to be the stripped down, badass Bond they’re promising, it might be the best news since Sean Connery played it first and for the ages. Eva Green and Caterina Murino are on Bond-girl duty. Luckily, some things never change.

A picture of Solange on top of Bond is next to the preview but the best part of the whole thing is the first page of the preview. It has caricatures of Sacha Baron Cohen, Daniel Craig, Beyonce, and Jack Nicholson as their respective characters. Bond is in black tie with a silenced gun in one hand and a cigarette in the other and black hair with the famous comma! The drawing is amazing and is a must have for every Bond fan.

This issue also has a preview of Audioslave’s new album, Revelations, which will be released on 5 September, 2006.

  5. Casino Royale's Popular Poker Sequences

    By Devin Zydel on 2006-08-31

The Daily Express reports that the poker sequence, which plays a big part in Casino Royale, became quite popular on the set.

In the upcoming James Bond film, 007 engages in the game against villain Le Chiffre. Daniel Craig has reportedly taken the game up in his spare time after learning how to play.

Card player John Duthie, who was an advisor on the Casino Royale set for the poker scenes says:

    > …let’s just say there were some extra-curricular sessions that went on off-set that were all down to the cast and crew. I think some were playing for their week’s wages.

  10. Revisiting Venice In Casino Royale

    By Devin Zydel on 2006-08-30

A report on the James Bond crew revisiting Venice in 2006’s Casino Royale has appeared online at Variety (subscription required to view entire article).

While Bond is no stranger to the location, (having previously visited it in From Russia With Love and Moonraker) Venice will this time be featured in several climactic scenes. The 007 Stage was most recently used for recreating some of the shots of the Venice scene for the climax of the film.

According to Executive Producer Anthony Waye, ‘it does take some getting used to, where all your equipment is moored on barges or wheeled in small barrows through the city.’
