The demo for the upcoming video game Quantum of Solace is now currently available for Windows (XP, Vista) courtesy of Coke Zero. The demo is rather short offering maybe 5 minutes of gameplay, but it does a decent job of letting the player get a feel for it. Running on a modified Call of Duty 4 game engine, Quantum of Solace switches from a first-person view to a third-person view when Bond takes cover or performs a “takedown”. The demo seemingly offers 4 weapons one of which is Bond’s trusty P99.
Quantum of Solace will be released on 31 October in the UK and 4 November in the US on the following formats: PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, Playstation 2, Nintendo DS and Windows PC.
Just one week since the last Quantum of Solace game video interview hit the net and now another one has been released.
In this new GameTrailers interview, executive producer of the Activision James Bond game, discusses incorporating the more cinematic elements of the films into their game.
He says: ‘Of course our game is a first-person, cover combat game, but we also have that extra layer of cinematic feel that we want to bring to life as a movie game and to meet the expectations that gamers have of a James Bond game.’
‘I think last week, we just saw the new [film] trailer that they released and we thought “Oh my gosh, that’s exactly like our game. That’s like our scene in that level. That’s like our scene in the other level. We have that.”‘
‘You might be sneaking across a ledge and you’ll see Bond in a really dramatic camera angle because there’s a little bit of tension about “OK, am I really going to make it across this?”‘
Young also briefly previews some of the levels gamers will play through as 007, including an ancient Roman cistern as well as the train to Montenegro from Casino Royale. While may fans will remember this sequence primarily for it’s witty dialogue between Vesper and Bond in the film, here it has been revamped as a full-blown action sequence originating from an earlier draft of the film’s script.

Following up the recent string of behind-the-scenes videos focusing on the debut James Bond game from Activision, Quantum of Solace, a new one is now available at GameTrailers.com.
Examining the incredible importance of the environments gamers exist in as 007, this new video also showcases several snippets of the missions from the game.
‘The environments are an exciting part of this game,’ says executive producer Garrett Young. ‘It’s where you exist, it’s where the story is told and it’s where you pursue and accomplish your mission as James Bond.
‘Most of the scenes in our game will be scenes that gamers will recognize from the [Quantum of Solace and Casino Royale] movies.’
‘When we create it as a videogame, we can’t just simply create the hallway that James Bond is in,’ adds design director Jeremy Luyties. ‘We need to create the hallway and the world that exists outside this hallway that shows you you’re in this real place that ties everything together.’
Young also praised the filmmakers for their extensive assistance in making Quantum of Solace the game as similar to the film version.
‘They’ve given us thousands of photos so that we could take their scenes that they’re building either at Pinewood in London or on location and then create our interactive environments for the game.’

Examples of their new technology added on include the third-person cover combat, where the player actually sees Daniel Craig’s 007 on screen, as opposed to playing solely in first-person perspective.

Brands2Life has fought off competition to land the job of managing the UK launch of Activision’s James Bond game, Quantum of Solace.
PR Week reports that the agency will begin a consumer lifestyle campaign before the game is released alongside the film on 31 October.
The agency went against various specialist gaming agencies for the job. ‘One reason we won the pitch was our grasp of the Bond brand,’ said Scot Devine, co-head of consumer at Brands2Life. ‘The 007 brand is the movie world’s most protected and working on it can mean walking a real tightrope.’
The agency states that they have been given a large degree of autonomy in their marketing role.
‘The campaign is going to be media neutral, so it will run across various platforms in the media,’ said Devine. ‘There is going to be a mix of traditional, interactive and guerrilla PR, ranging from editorial in magazines to charity events held in cinemas.’
