  1. New Details On The First First Unit Filming Schedule

    By daniel on 2002-03-21

We've just received a short word about the filming status of 'Die Another Day'. While we've already reported that a small number of crew from the Second Unit are still filming scenes in Iceland, we've just learnt that the First Unit have spent the last two days (Wednesday and Thursday) filming scenes away from Pinewood. Tomorrow (Friday) they will be filming scenes somewhere in Aldershot. These scenes may be filmed at the military base where parts of the pre-title sequence have already been filmed, however, thas is just speculation. All that we do know is that Pierce Brosnan will be with the First Unit tomorrow.

In similair news, we've learn that the First Unit will leave for Cadiz Spain on April 3.

  2. Brosnan serves duty as dad instead of for DAD

    By Evan Willnow on 2002-03-21

The Internet Movie Database reported today that Pierce Brosnan has yet again left the set of Die Another Day. This time it is to visit his ailing son Sean, who needed emergency surgery after re-aggravated injuries from an earlier major car accident. Pierce will return to work this Friday as reported by CommanderBond.Net, however, more importantly, a spokesperson has reported that Sean is 'doing fine'.

The full article is available from IMDb's Movie/TV News.

Thanks to Ry for the tip. And Mourning Becomes Electra for pointing out the link. Discuss this story on the CBN forums on this thread.

  3. Great Pictures From The Set In Iceland

    By daniel on 2002-03-21

Dark Horizons have scored a great exclusive with pictures from Die Another Day filming in Iceland. And the best picture is of a strange looking vehicle we haven't been privvy to pictures of before. It's named 'The Dragster' on set, and it appears to be just a very fast snow mobile.

The Crew On Set With 'The Dragster'

Also feature was this picture of two Aston Martin V12 Vanquish's. Yes, two!! Could I be more jealous? Probably.

    Two Aston Martin V12 Vanquish's

On 'The Dragster' Spoiler Warning (Highlight To Read) you’ll notice the person in the cockpit of the vehicle looks very similair to ‘James Bond’, personally I believe it to be Douglas James. Which leads me to believe we’ll see Bond in control of this vehicle, after he has ‘destroyed’ the Vanquish no doubt….

If you'd like to discuss the pictures please visit this thread of the Die Another Day Forums. And don't forget to check out Dark Horizons for the rest of the photos!

  4. Details Description Of Footage Shown On Swiss TV

    By daniel on 2002-03-21

It seems that everywhere bar Australia and the United Kingdom are being shown footage from Die Another Day, much to my disappointment. Tracy from Switzerland has just sent us in details of footage that was aired yesterday on Swiss Cinema Channel "Star TV".

Yesterday night, Swiss Cinema Channel “Star TV” aired a three minute Making Of, showing footage of Spoiler Warning (Highlight To Read)the Hawaii Surfing sequence, including short interviews featuring the Surfing cracks and Michael G. Wilson (with a beard!), too. At the beginning there was the same scene of Pierce Brosnan walking towards a door with his gun ready and followed by the camera team, as reported from Brazil. So he was obviously not cleaning his gun, but getting up from his leather chair and walking through that door.

The footage was spectacular, Spoiler Warning (Highlight To Read)showing the three surfers on absolutely stunning waves, with the yellow helicopter flying above and the camera team on some kind of water bike. You could also see excerpts from the storyboard and one of the surfers reporting that, due to the script, two of the surfers have to be kicked off their boards because of the waves. There were no further details on whether the scene really involves Bond.

The report was underlayes by Backseat Driver and seemed to be official footage, as they were showing the Danjaq Copyright at the end and the Bond 20 logo from the official website as a close.

Tracy has sent us in some great details there, and I'm really jealous that I haven't got scene this footage. Hopefully we'll be able to get our hands on it soon! Until then please discuss this news in this thread of the Die Another Day Forums. See you there!

  5. Footage Shown On German & Brazillian TV

    By daniel on 2002-03-21

Tim Roth, webmaster of the German fan site The 007 Generation, has just told me that footage from Die Another Day has reportedly been shown on German television station ProSieben, however, at this stage we're unable to completely validate that claim. This news does come, however, just days after footage from Die Another Day was shown on 60 Minutes.

The footage shown reportedly comes from the Spoiler Warning (Highlight To Read) pre-title sequence, as it shows a scene in the demilitarised zone of Korea. While details are still sketchy the scene reportedly featured Pierce Brosnan.

We're already looking into the validity of the footage and attempting to gain access to it. If we do get our hands on the footage you can be sure you'll see it at CommanderBond.Net!

In similair news, it has been reported that footage from Die Another Day was also recently shown on Brazillian television. The scene showed James Bond assembling his Walther P99 and walking to a door with his gun ready. A picture from this scene was recently shown on the official site and it is speculated that the scene takes place in 007's office at MI-6 headquarters at Vauxhall Cross.

  6. Second Unit Film Crews Still Remain In Iceland

    By daniel on 2002-03-20

Despite reports that filming by the Second Unit in Iceland has concluded I've just learnt that filming has not wrapped up altogether. A small crew are currently in Svalbard in Norway. Svalbard is an island which lies between the North Pole and mainland Norway. There area is most famous for it's amazing view of the Northern Lights and, as it is so close to Artic polar cap, its snow-covered April landscape bathed in the midnight sun.

Exactly where the film crew will travel in the expanse is unknown. What is know is the fact that a 12 person crew has travelled to Svalbard comprising of crew working on the film full time and crew from Jason Roberts Productions. Filming is expected to last only five days, however, this figure depends on weather conditions.

Personally I hope the crew are there to capture some magnificent night shots of the Northern Lights for Die Another Day. Reportedly film crews were recently filming a Spoiler Warning (Highlight To Read) love scene in one of Iceland’s hot springs. Hopefully footage of the Northern Lights will be intercut to make such a scene one of the most exotic and memorable in the 40 years of James Bond.

The Northern Lights do, however, give way to the 'Midnight Sun' by April so hopefully film crews wills till have time to capture such an amazing occurance.

Thanks to Jonas (who tells me he is still disappointed over the fact that no filming will take place in Norway) for the news!

  7. Madonna Reportedly Already Laying Down Title Track

    By daniel on 2002-03-20

Madonna, who was recently announced as the performer and writer of the title track to Die Another Day, reportedly began recording the track last Monday, March 18 2002. This news has been reported by innumerous sources including popular US entertainment news source Entertainment Tonight.

While these details could be speculative, some sources have indicated that both Madonna and composer David Arnold were present in the studio, indicating that Arnold may have had some influence over the track. A notion sure to please fans.

Thanks to NJ for letting me know about the ET report! If you'd like to discuss this news please visit this thread of the Die Another Day (Bond 20) Forums!

  8. Details Of Jinx And Bond 'DAD' Scene

    By daniel on 2002-03-20

AJB007 has reported news of a scene being filmed between Halle Berry and Pierce Brosnan last Thursday somewhere in the United Kingdom. The scene also involves a Chinook helicopter. Other details in the report are considered 'spoilers' so you'll have to highlight the article to read it.

    Spoiler Warning (Highlight To Read)

The scene in question reportedly involves Bond and Jinx in the back of a Chinook helicopter. AJB007 is under the impression that the helicopter belongs to the United States and, as a result, this scene does not take place anywhere in the United Kingdom as the United States apparently has no Chinooks statied on the United Kingdom.

The scene was reportedly filmed using blue screen techniques. Using blue screen the scene can be filmed on the ground but the finish product will reportedly set the helicopter somewhere around 10,000 feet above the Earth. The aircraft/HALO jump sequence in Tomorrow Never Dies was filmed in a similair fashion.

So what takes place in this scene? Reportedly it invovles Jinx and Bond “exiting out of the back of a Chinook … on the back of single person stealth gliders which were referred to as ‘Switchblades’.” AJB007 describes the Switchblades as “grey metallic vehicles with swing wings and a small V shaped fin, the user lies on them in the prone position facing forwards (much like [on] a skeleton bobsleigh).”

Other scenes reportedly filmed at this Air Force base somewhere in UK (the real base is in the UK, however, it will reportedly appear as a different location in the film) include a scene with “four to five Chinooks in a hangar and two outside, the shot went from left to right panning downwards on to a Land Rover which came into shot carrying Brosnan and Berry in the back. In the background of the shot were a lot of extras dressed as US army personnel.”

I must say that nearly all of this report is new to me. What isn’t new to me is a scene involving US Army Personnel. The notion of ‘Switchblades’ and exiting out the back of a Chinook is completely new to me so I can’t personally vouch for it’s validity.

However, day by day I am growing more convinced that Halle Berry’s character of Jinx will be American and possibly work for the NSA under Damian Falco. That said, this report does nothing to deny such a theory.

As to where this scene would fit into ‘Die Another Day’, I can’t even begin to speculate. My best guess would be it would come in the latter part of the film. Vic Armstrong recently revealed that in the middle of the film Bond would be rescuing Jinx from Gustav Graves’ Ice Palace in Iceland. It seems logical, in my mind at least, that Bond and Jinx won’t be paired up working together before this event.

That's all for now, but if you'd like to discuss it please visit this thread of the Die Another Day (Bond 20) Forums.

Finally, thanks to Brett M. for his help with this report!

  9. Tower Construction Concludes In Cadiz

    By daniel on 2002-03-19

Cadiz newspaper 'Diario de Cadiz' has reported that the construction of a purpose-built tower has been completed. The tower was reportedly completed on March 13 and is attached to an existing tower, the Sagrario Tower (Torre del Sagrario).

    The Tower During Mid-Construction

The purpose of the tower is to allow film crews to transport equipment to the top of the Sagrario Tower. In simple terms, it's just an elevator shaft.

The 'Diario de Cadiz' has reported that the Sagrario Tower will feature in Die Another Day in a scene with scene "with Pierce Brosnan talking to another person". The paper indicates that filming will begin on April 3 with both Pierce Brosnan and Halle Berry in attendance. As a result we could presume that the scene will feature Bond talking to Jinx with Cadiz in the background.

Thanks to 'Draco' for letting us know about the news, which you can discuss in this thread of the Die Another Day (Bond 20) Forums.

  10. 'Get Out Of Jail Free' Card

    By daniel on 2002-03-19

An Austrian news source has reported various details on Die Another Day. And while we're yet to get a full translation of the article this report highlights one key detail in the news. The detail does involve plot spoilers and speculation.

Pierce Brosnan During Filming Of Die Another Day

    Spoiler Warning (Highlight To Read)

By all accounts there is undeniable proof that the pre-title sequence will end with James Bond captured by North Korean Colonel Moon. What follows for 007 is three months of torture at the hands of Colonel Moon and his henchmen.

We’ve also learnt that 007 is released to American’s, rather than escaping from captivity. Speculation of my part has been echoed by reports from the Austrian news source who have indicated that Bond is ineed released from captivity, by General Moon. General Moon is of course Colonel Moon’s father and is described as a pacifist (the opposite to his son) who wishes to reunify Korea on peaceful terms.

The article continues to reveal information we’ve also learnt to date. Including the fact that Colonel Moon, with his warmongering territorial ambitions, wishes to reunify Korea through war and then take over Japan. Once done, he’ll lead a final assault on the United States.

Other details revealed include the news that Pierce Brosnan is being paid US$25 million for playing the role of James Bond in Die Another Day. I believe he was paid the same sum for The World Is Not Enough.

To discuss this news (and possibly help with the translation) please visit this thread of the Die Another Day (Bond 20) Forums. Thanks to 'Mourning Becomes Electra' for alerting me to the news!
