  1. Rumour on Bond 21 location scouting

    By Brett McAleer on 2003-07-02

Just a quickie to say that it is possible that locations in South Africa may currently be scouted for the next Bond movie designated for the time being as just Bond 21.

CBn Forum member, Morton Slumber, has posted a small note to say that “Locations are being scouted there now, apparently.”

Many fans have wished for Bond to travel to the southern part of the “Dark Continent” in one of his next adventures. The last time that Bond visited Africa was in 1987’s The Living Daylights when Bond was in Tangiers, Morocco, and before that, in 1977’s The Spy Who Loved Me in which he was chasing after the submarine tracking microfilm in Egypt. However, both were in northern Africa, while the only other movie to be partly set on the continent was Diamonds Are Forever in 1971, which featured a diamond smuggling operation in South Africa, but Bond was never in that part of the world.

Commanderbond.net will keep everyone informed as further details come to hand that may confirm or deny this “rumour,” which unfortunately, is all it can be called at this stage as no official anouncement has been made about this yet.

Thanks to Morton for bringing us this tidbit of information, and please feel free to discuss this in this thread of the Bond 21 (2005) Forum in the CBn Forums.

  3. Vanquish Moves To Germany

    By jason on 2003-05-30

Production of the Aston Martin Vanquish’s 5.9 litre V12 engine will soon be leaving the UK. Production of the engine, which provides the Vanquish with its 190mph top-speed, will halt at its current home in Northampton, UK. Beginning at the end of next year, production of the V12 engine will take place at Ford’s factory in Cologne, Germany.

The move takes place, as Aston’s Gaydon facility prepares for the construction of the recently announced V8 Vantage model, a direct competitor for the hugely successful Porsche 911 series. The V8 Vantage is scheduled for release in 2005, making it the current favourite for James Bond’s motor in Bond 21.

  4. Confirmed: Brosnan Signed B21 Contract!

    By Tim Roth on 2003-05-24

While CommanderBond.net reported about Pierce Brosnan having signed a contract for Bond 21 some days ago, other sources on the web spoke of a misinterpretation. However, an article featured in Business Week Magazine on April 14th already, confirms that the contract has been signed.

The article which is mainly an inside report about Pierce Brosnan and his production company "Irish dreamtime" states in one sentence, "The 49-year-old classically trained actor (who has been working in the business since he was 18), has just signed up for a fifth Bond film."

  5. Brosnan Signs Bond 21 Contract

    By Tim Roth on 2003-05-13

Yahoo! Germany reports that Pierce Brosnan has just signed the contract for Bond 21, with an option for Bond 22. Pierce is quoted as having said "I think playing James Bond six times and turn down the role then, this would be pretty cool".

In another sentence it is mentioned that the next James Bond is currently being worked on. This would be contrary to Michael G. Wilson’s statement about Bond 21 in the recent edition of British magazine "Film Review", where he is quoted to have said "As for Bond 21, it’s not even a glimmer in it’s mother’s eye. It’s a matter of logistics, it takes time to make these films and they get bigger and bigger, and they take more and more planning… I reckon it would be at least three years from the last film".

Anyway, be sure to discuss the topic in this thread of CBn’s Bond 21 forums!

  6. Rumour: Tamahori Directing Bond 21

    By Evan Willnow on 2003-05-04

CBn has heard from a source that Lee Tamahori will return to the
directors chair for Bond 21. The fact that Tamahori has yet to start production on any other project is one indication that there may be some truth to this rumour. If so, Tamahori will be the first director since John Glen
to direct back to back Bonds.

    Stay tuned…

  7. Cher Tipped To Do The Next Bond Song

    By Tim Roth on 2003-04-07

According to Dark Horizons, Cher has been tipped to do the song for Bond 21. No further information has been indicated, but at this stage it is a very early rumour.

  8. Eon Deny '21 Starts Filming This Year

    By David Winter on 2003-04-05

IanFleming.org have discovered that a contact close to Eon has said that Filming for Bond 21 will not start this year; the film doesn’t have a script yet.

The article also says that Eon always book studios as a precaution in case they need them.

You can read the entire article over at IanFleming.org.

  9. Aishwarya Rai To Appear in Bond 21?

    By Tim Roth on 2003-04-05

According to the "Times of India" and "Jam! Showbiz", Indian actor Aishwarya Rai may be the next Bond girl to star alongside Pierce Brosnan.

"They’re keen to cast her," Rai’s secretary Hari Singh was quoted as saying in the newspaper. He said an international agency has approached Rai, a former Miss World.

This leads to speculation. One is that the script is already finished and Bond is yet to go another time to an Asian country, India for instance. But there are as well some doubts. Why would EON hire an international agency to cast Rai? Bond Castings mostly have taken place in Los Angeles at MGM in the last 10 years. Additionally it could just be a marketing joke of Aishwarya’s private secretary with the aim to get some publicty. We’ll have to wait and see, but Commanderbond.Net will keep you informed!

Be sure to discuss the topic in this thread in CBn’s Bond 21 Forums! And thanks to forum member ‘Max Zorin’ for the tip-off.

  10. Bond 21 To Start Filming in Jan '04!

    By Tim Roth on 2003-03-26

Although MGM had originally intended for a release date of late 2005 for Bond 21, CommanderBond.Net has received information that filming will start in January 2004.

According to the German James Bond Club, Bondklub Deutschland, pre-production for Bond 21 is to be held in early summer, this year, at Pinewood Studio’s in Great Britain.

EON Productions have booked several stages in Pinewood from autumn 2003 because of the sets which have to be built. Filming will start in January 2004 and will most likely be wrapped in June or July. A december 2004 release for the film is planned.

A spokesperson for Pinewood Studio’s was unable to comment on the booking, due to confidentiality reasons. Now announcement will be made by the studios until production spaced is moved into, or until another official source, for example Eon Productions, is made.
