    By Devin Zydel on 2007-02-24

According to the Young Bond Dossier, the French edition of Charlie Higson’s newest Young Bond novel, Double or Die, could be released as early as April 2007.

The Young Bond novel will be published under the title Reussir ou Mourir and is set to be released on 12 April. However, this contradicts an earlier report stating the book would be released until January 2008.

JamesBond-fr.com and the Young Bond Dossier are currently seeking confirmation from the publisher, Gallimard Jeunesse, on which date is correct. Higson’s first two Young Bond novels, SilverFin and Blood Fever, were previously publshed by the same company.

  8. First Edition Of Ian Fleming's Casino Royale Fails To Sell

    By Devin Zydel on 2007-02-15

CBn previously reported that a UK first edition Jonathan Cape hardback of Ian Fleming’s Casino Royale was exected to sell for up to $20,000 at an auction that took place this week. However, BBC News reports that the bidding for the James Bond novel did not reach its undisclosed reserve price.

    Casino Royale First Edition

‘It’s very disappointing. But the fact that it’s an auction means you never know what’s going to happen, said Bloomsbury Auctions spokesman Richard Caton. In February 2005, another copy sold for over $40,000 at a Bloomsbury Auctions sale.

Fleming expert Roddy Newlands said interest in buying first editions of the original Bond novels has shot up as a result of Daniel Craig’s debut 007 film. ‘Casino Royale is an exceptionally important book because it is the first.’

A copy of The Spy Who Loved Me did sell for £1,200 and a copy of Octopussy & The Living Daylights (signed by Maud Adams and Maryam d’Abo) went for roughly £500.

Other Fleming Bond novels featured at the sale included Moonraker, From Russia With Love and The Man With The Golden Gun. Additionally, a copy of On Her Majesty’s Secret Service signed by George Lazenby was also included.

  9. Win 'James Bond In The 21st Century: Why We Still Need 007'

    By Devin Zydel on 2007-02-14

A lucky CBn member now has the chance to win a copy of James Bond In The 21st Century: Why We Still Need 007, which was released in the UK and US near the end of 2006.

The man needs no introduction. He’s Bond. James Bond. Women want him, and men want to be him. Living life in the fast lane, he’s licensed to kill and ready to thrill. James Bond is a ruthless agent who has convinced the world that not only is he the ultimate spy, but he always gets the girl, too. But has Bond outlived his usefulness? Is he still relevant today?

Today, James Bond is more important than ever. James Bond in the 21st Century provides an entertaining and smart look at secret agent 007. Leading writers look at the evolution of Fleming’s secret agent, the classic Bond debates, and the films’ deeper subtext, offering advice for Mr. Bond, would-be villains, and discarded Bond girls alike, discovering why we still need 007.
