    Young Bond 3
    Which Title? You Decide…

In an unprecedented nationwide ballot, Britain is to decide the title of the third book in the super-selling Young Bond series, written by Charlie Higson and due to be published by Puffin Books on 4th January 2007.

Voting for the nation’s preferred title starts today, Tuesday 3rd October at 9am, and closes at midnight on the 3rd November. To cast your vote, and become part of James Bond history, visit www.youngbond.com. There are three possible titles, chosen by the author, Charlie Higson:

    • Double or Die
    • N.E.M.E.S.I.S.
    • The Deadlock Cipher

To help you decide, there is an exclusive extract from Young Bond 3 on the Young Bond website and a note from Charlie Higson about the three titles he has picked.

The title will be kept a closely guarded secret until publication and revealed at an as yet undisclosed, central London location on the 3rd January 2007.

The Young Bond series follows the daredevil adventures of James Bond as an Eton school boy in the 1930s. The third instalment in a planned series of five titles, written by Charlie Higson, sees the young James Bond pitted against the dangerous criminal underworld of interwar London, a world of illegal gambling dens, Cambridge spies and East End gangs. Here you’ll read about the experiences which turned the boy into the steely and ruthless secret agent that Bond becomes as an adult.

The first books in the Young Bond series, SilverFin (published in March 2005) and Blood Fever (published in January 2006) enjoyed tremendous success. SilverFin sold over 190,000 copies and spent ten weeks in the top-ten and Blood Fever went straight to number one in the bestsellers chart.

All voters have a chance to win one of a limited number of tickets to the central London event and discover, before anyone else, the title of Young Bond 3.

You can also cast your vote by text:

    • For DOUBLE OR DIE text DOUBLE to 60022
    • For N.E.M.E.S.I.S text ENEMY to 60022
    • For THE DEADLOCK CIPHER text LOCK to 60022

Texts cost your normal rate. For full terms and conditions see www.youngbond.com.

    Press Release

Personally, I’ll be voting for The Deadlock Cipher because it sounds like a title Fleming would be proud of. N.E.M.E.S.I.S. is my second favourite because it’s reminiscent of the evil organizations S.P.E.C.T.R.E. and S.C.U.M. (Fans of James Bond Jr. will remember that one).

  6. Charlie Higson On The 'Young Bond Book 3' Working Title

    By Devin Zydel on 2006-08-31

The Young Bond Dossier reports on an update from Charlie Higson regarding the title for Young Bond Book 3.

Calling it perhaps the hardest thing in the process of these James Bond books, Higson simply says ‘I can’t tell you what it’s called because I don’t know.’

Higson reports that his working title for the book, Shoot The Moon (which he quite liked), was ‘savagely rejected’ because it was ‘felt that it sounds a bit wet. There’s something about the “moon” sound that’s a bit soppy, so it was rejected.’

  8. A Female Villain For 'Young Bond Book 4'

    By Devin Zydel on 2006-08-30

Charlie Higson’s Young Bond Book 4 (which will most likely be released in 2008) will feature a female as the main villain of the story – reports the Young Bond Dossier.

According to Higson, the villain of this fourth Young Bond adventure was originally planned to be a man, but later changed to a woman.

Additionally, as Young Bond Book 3 (due for release in the UK in January 2007) does not feature an evil creature as the first two novels did, Young Bond Book 4 will once again.

Higson says: ‘Nice work on the apache pics. You’ve nailed it. Although my version has a slight adaption to the knuckle dusters in that the gun doesn’t have to be reversed to use them. I saw some pictures of these nasty little guns … and just knew that I had to use them in the book.’

  10. Young Bond Games Online

    By Devin Zydel on 2006-08-25

The Young Bond Dossier reports on two Young Bond games that are available to play online.

Inspired by the first two Young Bond novels, SilverFin and Blood Fever by Charlie Higson, the games are Driving and Sea Urchins Sprint.

Driving is set in England and is based on a scene from the first book SilverFin, where a young James is taught to drive his uncle’s car at his countryside cottage. To show off his newly acquired skill James must complete three circuits of the cottage before the timer runs out, trying not to scratch the car. Driving is controlled predominantly by using the arrow keys with the space bar used to switch between high and low gear when needed.

Sea Urchins Sprint finds our hero in a prickly situation while on the school trip to Sardinia featured in the second book Blood Fever. While visiting Victor on the island James finds himself in the sea navigating between sea urchins to get to the shore unscathed. In this game James must use the arrow keys to swim in-between the clusters, however, as waves come in the urchins move, meaning that players must be ready to react at a second’s notice.
