  1. ‘Happy Birthday Mr Bond’ – Roger Moore and Irka Bochenko

    By Helmut Schierer on 2012-07-13

Slowly new details on Roger Moore’s upcoming duet with his ‘Moonraker’ co-star Irka Bochenko emerge. According to Luc Le Clech of the Club James Bond France the initiative for this venture started out with Bochenko, perhaps best known amongst Bond fans as Venini Glass receptionist and one of Hugo Drax’s most alluring employees. The actress and singer proposed a birthday serenade in honour of 007’s five decades of silver screen presence. And who better to team her up with than Sir Roger, who for generations of fans was James Bond, and whose voice for many of them will always remain James Bond’s.

Club James Bond France acted as go-between and Sir Roger readily agreed to join the fun. Mrs Bochenko met him in Genova, where his voice was recorded for the aptly titled ‘Happy Birthday Mr Bond’, music and lyrics written by Irka Bochenko herself. A limited edition album of only 500 copies is set to be released this September. The album will contain three more songs in English and French.

Many thanks to Luc Le Clech for providing background information on this.

  4. A Bond for a song, a Bond girl for a duet?

    By Helmut Schierer on 2012-07-11

According to AFP Roger Moore, the 84-year-old former James Bond actor, one more time raises his singing voice; this time in honour of James Bond’s 50th screen anniversary. Sir Roger will not be alone in front of the microphone, as he’s teaming up with Irka Bochenko, his co-star in 1979’s ‘Moonraker’. The record is scheduled for release in September.

AFP gained this information from the French James Bond Club, where extracts of the song will be posted prior to its release.

  8. Campbell backs Cavill for future Bond role.

    By Matthew Harkin on 2012-07-09

‘GoldenEye’ and ‘Casino Royale’ director Martin Campbell has backed Superman star Henry Cavill to take over the role of James Bond, once Daniel Craig calls it a day. Cavill auditioned for Bond in 2005, losing out to Daniel Craig, who’s cutting edge performance in english gangster film ‘Layer Cake’, secured his part as the English agent in Casino Royale.

Speaking to ‘The Express’, Campbell said..

“Henry did a great screen test for Bond. So did Daniel, although he arrived for his looking really tired after a night flight from America where he was finishing up a movie called The Invasion, None of us making the casting decision were 100% sure. I needed a couple of days to think about it. Over that weekend I saw Daniel’s film Layer Cake and he showed such terrific charm in that that it convinced me he should get the part.Perhaps Henry Cavill was too young for it then, he was 22 at the time we auditioned for Casino Royale, but maybe he could still be James Bond in the future. After all, Pierce Brosnan did a great screen test only to eventually get the part years later.”

  9. Bond has NOT replaced his Martini in ‘Skyfall’

    By Matthew Harkin on 2012-07-08

Sam Mendes has confirmed that James Bond has not ditched his Martini in favour of Heineken. Recent Tabloid reports suggested that Bond will in fact replace his signature Martini for beer in the upcoming James Bond movie. Speaking to GQ Magazine, Mendes said “There is a moment where he drinks Heineken, or rather a beer. But there is a story reason for that. And he does drink other things…”

There wasn’t really any kind of doubt that this would be the case however, as Bond fans already knew that EON Productions have had a long standing product placement with Heineken, and it was just the media blowing things out of proportion.  Bond took a sip of beer in 2008’s ‘Quantum of Solace’ but still managed to down 6 vodka martini’s.

Skyfall opens in the UK on October 26th.
