  4. Smirnoff To Launch James Bond Campaign In October

    By Devin Zydel on 2008-09-27

Back in July of this year, longtime partner of the James Bond series, Smirnoff Vodka, announced their official partnership with the 22nd instalment, Quantum of Solace.

Marking nearly 50 years of association between the company and Bond, Smirnoff announced three 007-themed cocktails at the time–the Vesper, the 007 Shaken Not Stirred Martini and the Quantum of Solace–in addition to several other planned events.

Today, CommanderBond.net reports with further details on Smirnoff’s worldwide campaign, set to launch in October 2008, including details on their all-new Travel Retail Smirnoff Black limited-edition cocktail shaker.

Diageo-owned Smirnoff Vodka has announced its official partnership with the world’s most famous secret agent in the next James Bond film, Quantum of Solace, which is set for global release in November 2008. The partnership will see James Bond-inspired initiatives from Smirnoff in markets worldwide.

The promotional campaign begins in October 2008 with the Travel Retail Smirnoff Black limited-edition cocktail shaker at the heart of the campaign. The stainless steel cocktail shaker encases a 70cl bottle of Smirnoff Black vodka.

Diageo GTME Marketing Director Nick Robinson said the campaign would provide “exceptional support” to the Smirnoff brand and enhance the in-store experience: “James Bond and Quantum of Solace provide the ideal opportunity to reach our key target market and enhance perceptions of the brand. This powerful campaign emphasises the premiumisation potential across our vodka portfolio in the year ahead.”

The global marketing campaign will include a broadcast advertising campaign, on- and off-premise promotions, a public relations campaign and digital campaign linked to the Smirnoff website (www.smirnoff.com).

“Almost half a century since the debut of the ‘shaken not stirred’ vodka martini, Smirnoff and James Bond are still the perfect match: two bold, iconic brands that epitomise originality and authenticity,” said Diageo Global Senior Vice-President Philip Gladman. “This renewed partnership gives vodka drinkers around the world a taste of the Bond lifestyle, from cocktails to prestigious VIP premieres.”

Produced by Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli for EON Productions and distributed by Sony Pictures Entertainment, Quantum of Solace follows the last Bond film, Casino Royale, in which Smirnoff was also an official partner. The partnership marks almost 50 years of collaboration between the Smirnoff brand and the 007 franchise.

The brand made its original appearance alongside Bond in Dr No, the first James Bond movie, which premiered in 1962. Sean Connery’s request for a “martini, shaken not stirred” made with Smirnoff vodka helped change how people made 007’s favourite cocktail–from using traditional gin to making it vodka-based.

Inspired by Quantum of Solace, The Quantum of Solace and The Black Martini are the newest Smirnoff cocktails.

Limited edition glass bottle launched to celebrate the release of the hotly anticipated new Bond movie – ‘Quantum of Solace’

‘Coca-Cola Zero’ gives new meaning to the term Zero Zero 7 as it launches a limited edition bottle to celebrate the release of the twenty second Bond film, Quantum of Solace. The nations own ‘bloke coke’ has been dressed to thrill with its very own special design Quantum of Solace bottle available exclusively at Harrods as a part of its Bond promotion (RRP £1.50 for 330ml).

The Bond bottle is set to be the ultimate men’s accessory this autumn, adding a debonair touch to any man-about-town’s look without having to don a tux! The sleek black design mirrors the edgier portrayal of Bond that Daniel Craig has brought to the role as the sixth actor to play James Bond.

The design of the bottle draws inspiration from the iconic James Bond gun barrel sequence, which has opened every Bond movie since the franchise began in 1962. The design features the infamous gun barrel, along with the trademark pose of Bond with gun-in-hand, plus sexy silhouettes of Bond girls which will leave blokes both shaken and stirred!

This bottle will prove to be a must-have collectable for any bloke or Bond fan.

Bobby Brittain, Brand Director, Coca-Cola Great Britain explains: “This is an amazing opportunity to be part of the phenomenon that is James Bond. Our iconic glass bottle for ‘Coke Zero’ lends itself perfectly to a Bond style accessory, the infamous curves of the bottle are the perfect complement to the legendary Bond imagery and a fitting way to mark the release of the film.”

The launch of the limited edition glass bottle celebrates the announcement that Coca-Cola Great Britain has teamed up its ‘Coca-Cola Zero’ brand with Sony Entertainment and the biggest franchise in motion picture history, James Bond 007. This is the first major collaboration for the ‘Coca-Cola Zero’ brand on an international stage since its successful launch around the world in 2006.
