Bond's V12 Vanquish For Sale

One of the Aston Martin V12 Vanquish’s driven by Pierce Brosnan in Die Another Day will be auctioned in May.

The soon-to-be auctioned Vanquish is one of only three driven by Pierce Brosnan during filming of Die Another Day, and while the finished film saw James Bond using the Vanquish in Iceland, this car was actually used for filming in the United Kingdom.

Unlike the stunt cars used in Iceland, and shells used for the upside-down Vanquish filming sequence, this Vanquish is in perfect condition. It will be auctioned on May 10 by Bonhams and will come with a certificate of authenticity.

R1 Cover-Art Revealed

The region 1 cover art for the Die Another Day two disc DVD set has been revealed.

The art makes full use of the one-sheet poster campaign used throught the United States in the promotion of the film. However, those of you who may have already have purchased DVD sets in the US will have already noticed that the art does not match that of this DVD.

Rumours are already flying that the sleeve found inside the DVD casing will be reversible, this will allow for those of you already owning previous sets containg the other 19 films in the series to maintain continuality, whilst still allowing those without the other films to display the latest artwork. Still it should be stressed this is still being treated as a rumour, until further confirmation is received from MGM Home Entertainment.

US DVD Release Set For June

In brief news, the DVD release date of Die Another Day in the United States has been confirmed as June.

The late release date was confirmed by MGM. The Region 2 release of the DVD in the United Kingdom will take place on May 2. There is currently no information on why the large release date gap were chosen.

The DVD release has been confirmed as a double-disc set with a release day of May 2, 2003. The recommended retail price for the set will be £24.99.

DVDAnswers, who attended yesterdays press event, provide further details on the DVD release.

As with past Bond DVD releases, the 2-disc set will feature a ‘Making-Of’ booklet. They’ve also confirmed that there will be an easter-egg on the DVD entitled ‘Hi Jinx!’, which will feature a multi-angle version of Jinx’s exit from the sea in Cuba.

There is one major disappointment for Bond fans, however, with the exclusion of deleted scenes from the region 2 release. There is currently no word yet on whether the Region 1 release will feature deleted scenes.

Berry Gets Image Award Nomination

Actress Halle Berry has received an Image Award for her portrayal of Jinx in Die Another Day.

Berry’s nomination is for ‘Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture’. The full list of nominations for this category is;

Two New DVD Extras for Region 2

Two new extras for the DVD release of Die Another Day have been revealed through the British Board of Film Classification’s website.

The two extras have been titled MI6 Datastream Inserts and From Script To Screen.

The MI6 Datastream Inserts appear to be a series of small featurettes on various elements of the latest James Bond film. A run time and title list for the featurettes was given by the BBFC;

The second extra From Script To Screen is a documentry that was shown in British TV during the promotional run of Die Another Day. The Region 2 Die Another Day DVD will be released in May and is currently available for pre-order at Amazon UK.

Promotion for the release of Die Another Day in Japan has stepped up a gear with Fox Japan increasing the online promotion.

The official Japanese site features poster artwork unique to the region, and completely different from both the US and International advertising campaigns.

Also available on the site is a full trailer for Die Another Day reworked for the Japanese market.

Lewis Gilbert Receives Dilys Powell Award

Director Lewis Gilbert received the Dilys Powell Award this evening in London.

Gilbert received the award as a part of the 23rd London Film Critics’ Circle Awards, which was held at the Dorchester Hotel in London.

The Dilys Powell Award was presented to Gilbert for ‘outstanding contribution to cinema’. Gilbert has directed over 40 films in his career, including three Bond films; You Only Live Twice, The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker. Outside of Bond he directed Michael Caine in Alfie, Kate Beckinsale and Sir John Gielgud in Haunted and recently John Hannah in Before You Go.

R2 DAD DVD Available For Pre-Order

The Region 2 release of Die Another Day is now available for pre-order from Amazon UK.

The Amazon UK listing indicates a recommended retail price of £24.99 for the DVD, indicating a two disc release; as was previously rumoured.

Extra features for the DVD are yet to be revealed with MGM Home Entertainment UK yet to finalise the list. The British Board of Film Classification have recently classified audio commentaries by Pierce Brosnan, Rosamund Pike, Lee Tamahori and Michael G Wilson for release on the disc. A documentary entitled Die Another Day – Shaken & Stirred – On Ice has also been classified for release on the DVD.

The Region 2 release of Die Another Day is seeling at Amazon UK for £16.99, a saving of £8.00.

Possible material for the Region 2 release of Die Another Day on DVD has reportedly been classified by the British Board of Film Classification.

Three extra features have reportedly been classified by the BBFC;

“Die Another Day – Shaken & Stirred – On Ice“, documentry

The three extras did appear on a previously rumoured list of extras for the DVD, however, under seemingly different names. The list mentioned Deleted Scenes with commentary by Director,
Audio Commentary: Audio Intelligence and an Inside Die Another Day documentary.

The Die Another Day – Shaken & Stirred – On Ice documentary has been passed as ‘Universal’ with a run time of 23m 33s. The same documentary, which is directed by Rob Done, has also been classified for a possible VHS extra.

The DVD release of Die Another Day is expected to be a two-disc set, indicating that further features are yet to be classified.
