  1. SPECTRE explosion sets world record

SPECTRE has officially set a Guinness World Record for the Largest Film Stunt Explosion. Barbara Broccoli, Daniel Craig and Léa Seydoux collected the award in Beijing on behalf of special effects supervisor Chris Corbould. The explosion was filmed near Erfoud in Morocco, and used 8,418 litres of fuel and 33kg of explosives.

Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said: “It is absolutely tremendous that the Guinness World Records have recognised Chris Corbould’s incredible work in SPECTRE in which he created the largest explosion ever in film history.”

  4. ‘Writing’s on the Wall’ official video released

The official music video for the SPECTRE theme track ‘Writing’s on the Wall’ has just been released (just under two hours later than the planned time of 0:07 in the UK, apparently prompting “a lot of angry emails going round”). It features new footage from the film interspersed with Sam Smith singing at various locations, including what appears to be Museo della Civilta Romana, a museum in Rome which is also the setting for a key scene in the movie itself.

He’s faced a week of mixed reviews, but Sam Smith has succeeded where Shirley Bassey, Duran Duran and even Adele failed. 7. Sam Smith confirmed for SPECTRE title song

After much speculation, and his own octopus ring based hint yesterday, Sam Smith has been confirmed as the singer of the title song for SPECTRE.

The track itself is called “Writing’s on the Wall”, and was co-written by Smith and Jimmy Napes, who was heavily involved with his debut album “In the Lonely Hour”.

CD, vinyl and digital releases are available to pre-order through his website. The song will be available to download and stream from Friday 25th September.

The CD single will also include an instrumental version of the theme.

SPECTRE producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said: “Sam and Jimmy have written the most inspirational song for Spectre and with Sam’s extraordinary vocal performance, “Writing’s on the Wall” will surely be considered one of the greatest Bond songs of all time.”

Smith himself added: “This is one of the highlights of my career. I am honoured to finally announce that I will be singing the next Bond theme song. I am so excited to be a part of this iconic British legacy and join an incredible line up of some of my biggest musical inspirations. I hope you all enjoy the song as much as I enjoyed making it.”

  8. Sam Smith appears to confirm SPECTRE theme song

Singer-songwriter Sam Smith appears to have ended the months of speculation over who will perform the title song for SPECTRE.

The 23-year-old posted a photo on his social media platforms showing him wearing the famous SPECTRE octopus ring.

Despite being heavily linked to the role for much of the past year, Smith has repeatedly denied that he would be singing the main title song, saying in July it was “definitely not” him.

Official confirmation is expected by Tuesday.
