ITN reports that Foucan’s launched the new school, funded by Westminster Council, in order to promote the sport and complete his coaching certificate in the discipline.

James Bond fans will best remember Foucan as Mollaka, the bomber who squared off against Daniel Craig’s 007 in the thrilling opening to 2006’s Casino Royale.

Speaking about freerunning, Foucan said: One of the good things is that it reconnects you with your environment, because other sports you need a special pitch to practice it. But here, your playground is your city. You see the city differently now. It’s not something boring or depressive. It’s good.’

Eugene Minogue, the sports development manager for Westminster Council, added: ‘[Parkour can go] all the way. As high as the Olympic Games. It’s really about how we grow the sport and make sure the sport is growing in the way that a lot of people can participate and actively engage within the sport.’
