  2. New Character Pictures Online

    By daniel on 2002-10-29

RTL.de has updated their site with new character pictures from Die Another Day.

Some of the pictures, released by Fox International, have previously appeared online and won’t be completely new to all Bonds. There are, however, some new shots of characters, including Gustav Graves and Zao, which are new. The Graves photo should be of particular interest to Bond fans as it gives a clear look at Icarus’ control glove.

If you’d like to discuss the pictures please visit this thread of the Die Another Day Forums. Thanks to Stromberg for the alert.

  3. UK Cover Art Confirmed For 'Die Another Day'

    By daniel on 2002-10-29

Copies of Raymond Benson’s Die Another Day novelisation have already started appeared in bookstores world-wide, however, to date no cover art for the UK release of the novel has been confirmed.

‘Nigel’ was able to pick up a copy of the novel and has written in to tell us that the cover art is that of the US Teaser B / US One Sheet poster, making it different from the US novelisation which features the UK Teaser A Ice Gun.

The same artwork that is on the UK novelisation appears on the US Audio Book.

  4. Completely Unique

    By daniel on 2002-10-28

There is an assortment of books that every Bond aficionado should have in their respective collection, of course the list is headed by Ian Fleming’s literary adventures and expands to include such works as Raymond Benson’s The James Bond Bedside Companion. A new book has now entrenched itself of the list of ‘must haves’, James Bond: The Legacy by John Cork and Bruce Scivally.

The first thing that anyone will notice about James Bond: The Legacy is its sheer size. Like the Bond legacy itself, this book is big! The only real way to describe it is as a coffee table book, yet it’s still slightly bigger. I sized it up against other coffee table books and it still about an inch or so bigger than any of the others.

Continuing with physical attributes, the book is put together quite nicely. If you remove the sleeve, which I found tends to crease on the top and bottom edges because of its size, the black cover is embossed with a gold ‘007’ logo, and the spine also has the books title and other details embossed.

However, its what is in side the James Bond: The Legacy that makes the book such a good buy; pictures. I would seriously buy this book for the pictures alone. When it first arrived, I sat down with the intention of flicking through the pictures, expecting to have seen most of them before now. I hadn’t. Four hours later I finished ‘flicking’ through the pages looking at so many unique photos, including some brilliant shots from Die Another Day. The unique photos extend from Ian Fleming, right through all the films until reaching Die Another Day.

The book’s content is also unique. Cork and Scivally have put together a book that does not tend to go into filming occurrences in depth, rather, the book tends to mainly highlight social influences. For example, the book speaks of changes to the scripts of a particular Bond film and the social influences that caused such a change. The opposite is also true as James Bond: The Legacy looks at how Bond has influences society.

Understandably, the book isn’t perfect. Its coverage of Die Another Day is ‘careful’ as the authors purposely try not to give away any spoilers. Moreover, the Die Another Day coverage is already, sadly, outdated due to its publication before the film is released. With the early release date it misses being able to cover an attempted return to Bond-fever, though it does mention the early progress of the new licensing campaign. And it also misses mentioning the real life events currently unfolding with North Korea’s secret nuclear weapons project.

Despite such ‘problems’, this is still one hell of a James Bond book, and is definitely one of the best released to date.

  5. Another International One Sheet Revealed

    By Tim Roth on 2002-10-28

The French James Bond Club has revealed another official One Sheet for Die Another Day, which looks like the One Sheet revealed last week. I would call the new one a developped version of the other One Sheet. You can have a look at the new poster here.

However, this is already the 4th official One Sheet I count. We have the two international one’s, which can be seen here and here, and the US One Sheet, which is a developpment of the 2nd teaser poster, viewable here. Additionally, I’ve seen yet another one at my local cinema on the weekend, you can see a low resolution image of it on Ebay. I was told by a cinema employee that this is also an official One Sheet for Die Another Day.

Seems the ad campaign is very strange. While buses in Manchester and other English cities carry DAD posters, the official James Bond Website doesn’t have any information on any of the Final One Sheets.

But be sure to discuss the topic in this thread of CBn’s Die Another Day Forums! And thanks to ‘john007’, ‘mrmoon’ and ‘cyris’ for all the information!

  6. Pierce Brosnan May Attend DAD Premier

    By daniel on 2002-10-27

While plans are yet to be finalised, sources have told CommanderBond.Net that actor Pierce Brosnan is expected to attend the Australian premier of Die Another Day, with Halle Berry also a possible attendee.

It has been confirmed, however, that the Australian premier for the film will be in Melbourne and not at Sydney’s Fox Studio’s.

Die Another Day opens Australia-wide on December 12.

  7. Rachel Grant Confirms Role

    By daniel on 2002-10-27

In an interviewith the Daily Mail actress Rachel Grant has confirmed her role in Die Another Day is that of a Chinese Agent.CommanderBond.Net has further learned that Grant’s character will appear in a scene of the film set in Hong Kong, with Grant’s character posing as a masseuse.

The Daily Mail interview includes a photo of Bond and Grant’s character struggling for a pistol.

It could seem that Grant’s character may be ‘that type’ of masseuse, but Bond isn’t that type of customer.

  8. New Anonymous DAD Poster

    By daniel on 2002-10-25

Strange e-mails seem common place on the Internet today, most of them are usually spam. However, today something different arrived from an unknown artist. It’s a concept poster aimed for the promotion of Die Another Day. By no means is the poster to be considered official, rather it is more likely to be a poster created by a fan for the film.

The only information attached to the e-mail was that this poster is a tribute to “true Bond artist Robert E. McGinnis”.

The poster comes to hand after a CBn User Poll revealed that 86% of those who voted were not happy with the US Die Another Day One Sheet. A new poll has been created allowing visitors to vote between the US One Sheet and this new poster work. So after viewing the poster, please vote.

  10. First TV Spot During World Series

    By daniel on 2002-10-25

The official James Bond site has revealed that the first Die Another Day TV Spot will premier this Saturday in the United States during the broadcast of the World Series Game.

There is still no word as to whether the TV Spot will be available online, however, if the official sites coverage of The World Is Not Enough serves as any indication, it is possible that it will.
