  1. Treyarch Has Big Plans For 2009 James Bond Game

    By Devin Zydel on 2008-10-07

Even though 007 fans have about a little less than a month to go until Activision’s Quantum of Solace is released, developer Treyarch is already brainstorming ideas for the follow-up James Bond game in 2009.

In an interview with Videogamer.com, Quantum of Solace co-design director Adam Gascoine said that Treyarch was eager to work on another Bond game because they have ‘a lot more to say’.

‘I do know that our team wants to work on the next Bond,’ he stated. ‘Because we feel we have a lot more to say. The first game in a franchise is never the greatest game ever made. We’ve got a really good game and we’re really proud of it but we want to build. We want to go like Call of Duty 1 to Call of Duty 2, Halo 1 to Halo 2. We want to make sure that gamers can play this and say all right this is the start of a dynasty. This is going to get better and better and better.’

He continued: ‘There’s stuff we really want to improve on. We also want to get driving in the game. We had it in the game for like a year, but we took it out because we didn’t want to do a license game where it’s just got everything and is an average level all the way through. So we took all of those resources and put them into combat. But if we do the game again, another version, we want to put some of that stuff back in.’

Following up the original announcement that Activision was lining up future 007 games as an annual event, Gascoine added there would likely be two developers working simultaneously on them.

  2. 'Quantum of Solace' International Poster Revealed

    By Devin Zydel on 2008-10-07

As the clock continues to count down to the theatrical premiere of Quantum of Solace, 007 fans can check out the newest poster released for the film.

CanMag have gotten their hands on the international poster for the 22nd James Bond film and fans will immediately notice a striking similarity to the US 1-sheet, which was unveiled towards the end of last month.

The international Quantum of Solace poster features the same shot of Daniel Craig and Bond girl Olga Kurylenko in the desert with the headquarters of villain Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric) burning in the background. The only major difference is that the international poster opts for a vibrant blue backdrop as opposed to the US 1-sheet.

  3. Hands On: Activision's 'Quantum of Solace'

    By Devin Zydel on 2008-10-07

Just as the demo version of the game was released to 007 fans around the world, IGN have posted an indepth Hands-On review of Activision’s Quantum of Solace.

Much of the forthcoming James Bond game is examined, including the Call of Duty 4 engine, the single-player missions, multi-player scenarios, graphics, audio and endless other aspects.

    The final verdict?

'Quantum of Solace' Game Box Art

    Quantum of Solace

Whenever I play a new Bond game I instinctively compare its single-player to the reigning king of Bond games, GoldenEye. I know it was released more than a decade ago, but it’s still the best. Keeping that in mind, Quantum of Solace felt pretty damn good. Being a huge Call of Duty 4 fan, the engine has been changed enough to feel fresh but still retains a nice, familiar feel.

Quantum of Solace effectively puts players in the shoes of James Bond in a world that is very reminiscent of Infinity Ward’s Game of the Year from last year. It’s fast and fun, but here’s hoping that it stays that way throughout the entire campaign. I have some concerns about monotony becoming an issue but I’ll reserve final judgment until retail copies make their way to my desk.

The site has posted a similar review for the Nintendo DS version of the Bond game, which is developed by Vicarious Visions. Click below to check out both articles:

  4. Quantum of Solace Game Demo Now Available

    By Kevin Wells on 2008-10-07

The demo for the upcoming video game Quantum of Solace is now currently available for Windows (XP, Vista) courtesy of Coke Zero. The demo is rather short offering maybe 5 minutes of gameplay, but it does a decent job of letting the player get a feel for it. Running on a modified Call of Duty 4 game engine, Quantum of Solace switches from a first-person view to a third-person view when Bond takes cover or performs a “takedown”. The demo seemingly offers 4 weapons one of which is Bond’s trusty P99.

You can currently download the game from these locations: FileShack, FileFront, FilePlanet, etc.

Quantum of Solace will be released on 31 October in the UK and 4 November in the US on the following formats: PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, Playstation 2, Nintendo DS and Windows PC.

  6. Bond Girls Back For 'Quantum' Main Title Sequence

    By Devin Zydel on 2008-10-06

When the topic of a James Bond title sequence is brought up, the discussion very often centers on the naked, silhouetted dancing Bond girls who are seen striking all sorts of poses.

After being featured in literally every single title sequence from 1963’s From Russia with Love onwards, Bond fans were a bit surprised when it was revealed that series regular Daniel Kleinman had decided not to incorporate them in the titles for Daniel Craig’s debut 007 film, 2006’s Casino Royale. He opted instead for an innovative casino card-based design that still met with general approval amongst fans.

However, the Bond community will be pleased to know those girls are making a return in Quantum of Solace.

    Quantum of Solace

The Sun reports that 26-year-old dancer Franky Wedge, previously featured in the Ministry of Sound’s ‘Pump It Up Dancemix’ exercise DVD series, has been confirmed as one of the featured dancers for the Bond titles.

She said: ‘I had an audition and I thought there was no way I was going to get it. There were ten foot tall skinny models and I was like, “Oh right”.’

‘I was actually in Milan when they told me I’d got the part, so I had to fly straight home to do a rehearsal.’

    Director Marc Forster

    Director Marc Forster

Joining her in the Quantum of Solace titles is friend Jessica Grist.

‘We had to get a bit naked,’ Franky added. ‘We were wearing some things just to cover certain bits of us, but it had to look like we had nothing on! I haven’t actually seen the end result yet, some of it is computer generated.’

Although they’ve yet to receive tickets to the film’s theatrical premiere, Franky said: ‘We’re so excited and we’ve never been to a premiere before. We could be the new Bond girls. Home grown!’

The Quantum of Solace main title sequence is created by design company MK12. Director Marc Forster hired the company to ‘reintroduce the graphics for Bond’ after having a successful working relationship with them on his earlier movies.
