  1. News From Pinewood

    By David Winter on 2001-01-15

This news comes from an old source. He get’s around a bit and he’s staying completely anonymous as per request.

His news is that Pinewood Studio’s is fully expecting production on Bond 20 to begin within a month or so. Apparently it’s common knowledge around Pinewood that as production on Tomb Raider winds to a close as production on Bond 20 will begin. And Tomb Raider has almost finished filming.

  2. British Babe Kirsty Gallacher May Be Bond Girl

    By daniel on 2001-01-15

British babe Kirsty Gallacher is the latest in a long line of beautiful women rumoured to make an appearence in Bond 20.

    Britains NOW magazine reports that Gallacher not only wants to play a “high-kicking” Bond Girl, but she’s also been cast as one. ‘Rory’ was kind enough to send in the article;

KIRSTY GALLACHER caused a stir recently when she posed for a series of pictures in lads mag maxim. In the interview, the sky sports presenter said she’d love to have a role as a ‘high-kicking’ bond girl. It seems kirsty was dropping a few hints because she’s just asked her bosses for time off this summer for that very reason. Kirsty,23, has landed a part in the next bond film, which is currently in pre-production at pinewood studios with the working title of Beyond The Ice. Little is known about the plot, although Pierce Brosnan will once again take the leading role. Just as she stated in the interview, Kirsty will have a small part playing a kick-boxing baddie. The stunning daughter of golfer Bernard Gallacher, she’s keen on breaking into movie and television acting and recently returned to work from her christmas break, barely able to contain her exitement about her big break.

More and more papers are reporting that Pinewood Studio’s is prepping up to start work on Bond 20 but most are still reporting that the title is “Beyond The Ice”, most likely because their articles went to print well before Eon’s denial of the title.

    The following biography is from http://www.kirstygallacher.net/;

Kirsty Gallacher is a presenter on Sky Sports News – Sky digital’s 24-hour sports news and information service.

Daughter of former Ryder Cup captain Bernard Gallacher, Kirsty previously worked on the other side of the camera first as a production junior before becoming an editorial assistant on Sky Sports’ award-winning golf coverage.

Born in Edinburgh in 1976, Kirsty soon moved to Berkshire when her father became the Club Pro at Wentworth Golf Club and she has lived in the area before moving to west London recently. Her greatest sporting moment was also the greatest day of her life as the European team captained by her father became the first team to win the Ryder Cup on American soil at the Oakhill County Club in September 1995.

Kirsty also saw the retention of the trophy at Valderrama in Spain, where she was part of the Sky Sports production team, and recently reported on the defeat in the 1999 event.

  3. Bill Clinton in Bond 20?

    By daniel on 2001-01-14

Bill Clinton hits the headlines everywhere today. US Radio Stations are reporting the news as are Australian newspapers and Jersey77 was nice enough to send in various links from around the net that are reporting the new (this time in English). Visit

    Sky News
    Annanova
    Yahoo News

These three sources offer new insight onto the news. All report that “scriptwriters are working on a scene where Bond, played by Pierce Brosnan, meets ‘President’ Clinton at a White House reception, and enlists his help.” and have added details that EON Productions “have been encouraged by his starring role in a spoof White House video, where he fooled around pretending to be the laundryman, gardener and car washer”. Also Yahoo News has added that the movie is already in pre-production stages at Pinewood Studios.

On the same topic ‘Wishmaster’ has sent in the translation of the original site that popped up yesterday:

Clinton New Star in Bond picture?

Maarsen – Producers of the next James Bond film have offered President Clinton a cameo apperance. Who knows a new career for Bill Clinton in the entertainment industry?

The new Bond picture is currently in preproduction at Pinewood studios.

The Scriptwriters are currently working on a scene where James Bond visits the President of the United States and asks for his help. For the part of the president they really like to have Clinton, who else could play the part. Clinton hasnt responded yet. But should he accept the part the the producers should be certified of another ultimate blockbuster.

Thanks to Wishmaster for that much needed translation.

  4. Yeoh Says No!

    By David Winter on 2001-01-11

Former Bond girl (and perhaps future one if you believe the rumours) Michelle Yeoh, who played Chinese secret agent Wai Lin in Tomorrow Never Dies, has turned down a role in the sequel to ‘The Matrix’.

As reported earlier by CommanderBond.net Yeoh was offered a role both The Matrix 2 and 3 opposite Keanu Reeves, Lawrence Fishburne and Carrie-Anne Moss.

Yeoh has announced that she turned down the role so she could both produce and star in her upcoming project “The Touch”, an action-adventrue film much like ‘Crouching Tiger – Hidden Dragon’.

“I’m not going to do ‘The Matrix’. I’m a great fan of the Waschowski brothers but some things are more important. I just started my own production company and the filming of it conflicted with my movie. I believe it is time to do other things, stories coming from Asia. At the end of the day you have to do what`s really important to you.”

Sadly, a project like The Matrix would probably bring more light to her own career and this may cause her some ‘pain’ in the future. But you have to do what you have to do…

  5. John Cleese Returns For 3 More Bonds

    By daniel on 2001-01-08

Empire Online has reported that John Cleese has singed up for a further 3 James Bond movies to play his character R.

After the sad death of Desmond Llewllyn last year it comes as little surprise that Cleese will appear in the next films. I just wonder if his character will be Q or R?

  6. Edward Woodward to replace Dame Judi Dench as

    By David Winter on 2001-01-06

London’s The Mirror has printed news on the next James Bond movie. They claim that acclaimed actor Edward Woodward (TV’s “The Equalizer”) is being lined up to play the new ‘M’ in the next 007 film currently using the working title “Beyond the Ice”. While no main plot details were mentioned, this reports indicates one of the subplots would see the retirement of the current M (Dame Judi Dench). A staff member on the production says “It was felt Edward was brilliant in The Professionals’ remake and it was decided he would fit the role of M perfectly”. It is also possible that the opening sequence will be shot in Alaska. The script is currently still being assembled with production not expected to begin till next year. – Daniel Dykes here, it would be a shame to see Dame Judi Dench leave the role of M in Bond 20 and I personally hope it does not happen, no one has commented on her role in the next Bond movie and I honestly can’t see EON to eager to replace her after her astounding performance in The World Is Not Enough.

  7. Nobody Lives Forever

    By David Winter on 2001-01-06

‘Andreas’ has written in to us to inform us that Bond 20’s title may actually be ‘Nobody Lives Forever’. An interesting title, thought at this early stage I very much doubt it will remain as the title.

  8. Anthony Hopkins

    By David Winter on 2001-01-06

Anthony Hopkins is again being rumoured to play the villain in Bond 20. Very unlikely and I’m 99% sure it won’t happen. This rumour is spawned from the fact that Hopkins was going to play Alec Trevelyan in GoldenEye however; he refused the part as he was working on another project at the time.

  9. Matthew Perry Rumour Not True

    By daniel on 2001-01-06

Only days after it appeared online Matthew Perry, who plays Chandler in the popular TV series Friends, has denied rumours that he will be the next James Bond. In fact, he wasn’t even aware of the rumours.

    He said:

“The report is that I’m the next James Bond? Really? Don’t you have to have a British accent to be the next James Bond? I could possibly be James Bond. I don’t know. Is that really a rumor?”

The rumour was always considered false by most Bond fans, but now it’s official: it’s false!

  10. Sean Connery Talks James Bond

    By daniel on 2001-01-06

In an interview with Cinescape there’s no doubt that the conversation would eventually turn to Bond, especially when you’re interviewing Sean Connery.

The interview eventually turned away from Connery’s new movie, Finding Forester, to our favourite topic 007 and Connery has given some interesting thoughts on the topic.

Connery can never escape his work as James Bond. The actor says that there isn’t a day that goes by that someone doesn’t mention it. And he finds that fascinating.

“Everyone makes the same mistake. They go, ‘I saw my first Bond film, ten, twelve years ago.’ And I’ll say, ‘No dear, 32 years ago.”‘

Audiences also usually forget that when Connery was first cast in the relatively low-budget Dr. No, the movie and its unflappable main character weren’t yet box-office gold.

“Everyone who said that the first one was going to be a success is a liar because they didn’t know,” Connery says. “The film costs less than a million dollars. They didn’t make one immediately afterwards because they still weren’t sure. Everybody forgets that. Believe me, nobody could have foreseen that all these years later, we’d be sitting here discussing James Bond.”

True to say that Connery has never escaped the shadow of Bond that looms over all actors who have portrayed the man with the license to kill.

All things considered, Connery is a good sport about the endless questions. The best part of being Bond? “The first two or three were fun. The cast made it fun. Jumping out of planes was entertaining although it was tough on my hair piece,” he says. And the worst? “It became too dominant in everything I was doing. There was no way to compete with it and try to get any justifiable balance.”

Connery did return in 1982, defying an oath he made to never Bond again, in Never Say Never Again. His wife Micheline suggested the title. The movie was a hit, but he wasn’t happy with the finished product, despite producing the movie himself. “It wasn’t the best experience,” he says.

That’s hardly new news. However, I find the next part particularily interesting. Connery’s thoughts on Pierce Brosnan and Timothy Dalton portraying James Bond:

The actor is equally frank when ratings his most recent 007 successors. “I think Pierce Brosnan was a good choice. Timothy Dalton never got a handle on the role. He took it seriously in the wrong way,” he says. “The person who plays Bond has to be dangerous. If there isn’t a sense of threat, you can’t be cool.”

Very interesting. With those parts of the interviews dissected I recommend you go over to Cinescape and read the whole interview dated January the 5th, 2001.
