  1. Pierce Brosnan Honoured With Irish Film Academy Membership

    Pierce Brosnan revealed he was ‘deeply honoured’ upon receiving a lifetime membership in the Irish Film and Television Academy – reports Ireland Online.

    Brosnan said of the membership: ‘I am honoured beyond words to be part of the Irish Film and Television Academy, especially to be among the names of so many I greatly admire in the world of film and storytelling.’

    ‘I can only hope that this will lead to the inspiration of future artistic generations to go forth within their time and place in history, fearless with desire.’

    The past James Bond star most recently appeared in The Matador. He runs his own production company, Irish DreamTime, and his newest film, Seraphim Falls will premiere at the Toronto Film Festival later this month.

  3. Eva Green Initially Reluctant Of Bond Girl Role In Casino Royale

    Entertainment Wise reports that Eva Green (Vesper Lynd in Casino Royale) was initially reluctant in taking the role of the Bond girl in the new 007 film.

    ‘My first reaction was that it was a big action movie… it’s a Bond girl and I don’t want to do it,’ said Green. ‘But then producer Barbara Broccoli insisted that I read the script. I read it and thought it was quite unusual. I was very much surprised by the relationship Bond has with Vesper.’

    And why did Green choose to appear in the new James Bond film? ‘It’s beautiful love story. That’s why I wanted to do it. Not because it’s Bond.’

  4. Negotiations For Casino Royale Regional Premiere In Chester

    ic Cheshire reports that negotiations are currently taking place for a regional premiere of Casino Royale in Chester, the birthplace of new James Bond Daniel Craig.

    The current plan is for the new 007 film to premiere at Chester’s Odeon cinema.

    Emma Well, from North West Vision (the company behind region to film campaigns), said: ‘We are still in talks with the company. Our head office is dealing with it and we are hoping to find out in the next couple of weeks.’

    According to Gerald Tattum, Chester City Council tourism development officer, ‘As far as I know we have asked North West Vision to secure it for us, and it said it would be in negotiations with Bafta and Daniel Craig’s agents.’

    ‘The Odeon has its 70th birthday this year and, with Daniel born in Chester, it is a double reason to celebrate. If we get it, it will make Chester a very special place during November.’

  5. 'Bond 22' Pushed To 7 November 2008 Release

    The Hollywood Reporter reports that Bond 22 will be delayed to a 7 November 2008 release date.

    Originally set for release on 2 May of the same year, the 22nd official James Bond film would have been the first summer release in the series since 1989’s Licence To Kill. Sony is reportedly looking for a director for the new 007 film after negotiations reportedly fell through with Roger Michell.

    Sony Pictures Entertainment vice chairman Jeff Blake said: ‘Eighteen months was a very short window… We’re going to stay the course.’

    Daniel Craig has already been signed to play Bond once in again in Bond 22.

  6. 'The Living Daylights' Screening At alFresco filmFesto

    A few weeks ago, a poll was held to decide which James Bond film to screen at the alFresco filmFesto. The winner of the Centre for Arts and Technology People’s Choice James Bond online vote was 1987’s The Living Daylights, starring Timothy Dalton as James Bond 007.

    The Living Daylights will be screened at the alFresco filmFestival on Friday, 1 September 2006.

    Screenings take place at Tall Ships Quay, Halifax Waterfront, and are projected on the wall of the Electropolis building. Festivities start at 8:00 PM with showtime at 9:00 PM. Admission is a $5 donation to support this community event. alFresco-goers are asked to bring their own lawn chair or blanket for seating. In case of heavy rain, screenings will be postponed until the next evening. Rain date notices will be posted on www.atlanticfilm.com by 3:00 PM on the day of the postponed screening.

    The 26th Atlantic Film Festival takes place 14 – 23 September 2006, in Halifax, NS.

  7. 'Casino Royale' (1954) Screening At Nostalgia Convention In September

    CBn had previously reported on the upcoming Mid-Atlantic Nostalgia Convention in September 2006, which will feature James Bond film stars Lana Wood (Plenty O’Toole in Diamonds Are Forever) and David Hedison (Felix Leiter in Live And Let Die & Licence To Kill).

    It has now been revealed that one of the movie screenings scheduled for the event will be none other than the 1954 version of Casino Royale. Starring Barry Nelson as James Bond, this little known TV movie also stars Peter Lorre as Le Chiffre and Linda Christian as Valerie Mathis. Click here for CBn’s overview of 1954’s Casino Royale.

    In addition, a special sneak preview of the upcoming official Casino Royale starring Daniel Craig will be played after the screening.

    The screening is set for 7 PM on Saturday, 16 September 2006 in Movie Room #2.

    ‘Come spend a weekend with movie stars, antique cars, old-time radio, and old-time TV shows and movies!’ The Mid-Atlantic Nostalgia Convention will take place at he Clarion Hotel, Aberdeen, Maryland, and will run from 14 – 17 September 2006.

    ‘Casino Royale:’ Tough, but cool…

    Playing the role of James Bond in the upcoming Casino Royale is a tough, but cool job for Daniel Craig – reports Reuters.

    What does Craig respond when asked what was the coolest thing about taking on the role of 007 in the 21st James Bond film? ‘Finishing probably.’

    As tough as the job and as different as this new Bond film may be, Craig assures that Bond keeps his cool through the end. ‘We have an opening sequence that is filmed in black and white, which is not to say this is old. It is just to say, “go with us on this one. This is from the beginning,”‘ he says.
