    By Devin Zydel on 2008-07-11

It’s a list that just keeps on growing, but today yet another singer has been rumoured for the Quantum of Solace title tune.

Entertainment Online claims that R&B and soul singer Alicia Keys is the top contender for the 22nd James Bond film.

While no official announcement has yet come from Eon Productions, a source for the site stated ‘I believe Alicia is the winner’.

The multi-Grammy winning Keys joins numerous others rumoured for the job, including Amy Winehouse, Beyoncé, Leona Lewis, Jack White, Duffy and, most recently, Duran Duran and Annie Lennox.

A representative for Keys declined to comment on the report, while a Quantum of Solace rep stated there was currently ‘no info’ available regarding the title song.

  4. 'Quantum of Solace' – Official Blog Report #16

    By Devin Zydel on 2008-07-08

The official Quantum of Solace blog has been updated today with another crew member from the 22nd James Bond 007 film: first assistant director Michael Lerman.

‘I’m the first assistant director on Quantum of Solace. A lot of people view the first assistant director as kind of the taskmaster on set; the person that’s cracking the whip and pushing the crew.’

‘My goal on a day-to-day basis is to achieve everything the director wants in the alotted time. The first thing I do is take the script and break it down: all of the cast, the crew, the stunts, the special effects. And while I’m doing that we’re going to numerous locations just to pick the right one that fits all the requirements that the scene dictates.’

‘I’ve done a lot of movies where the finale is the big set piece, but on Quantum of Solace it seems like we have one those set pieces every week–it never stops.’

  5. Duran Duran And Annie Lennox Join The 'Quantum' Title Track Ring

    By Devin Zydel on 2008-07-04

As post-production continues on the 22nd James Bond film, Quantum of Solace, rumours and speculation concerning the title song only continue to heat up.

In the past couple of days, two new acts have been added to the list: Duran Duran and Annie Lennox.

Duran Duran, already a well-known name to 007 fans for their number-one title song for 1985’s A View to a Kill, are reportedly considering a collaboration along with producer Mark Ronson.

Keyboard player Nick Rhodes said: ‘We’d love to collaborate with Mark on a single for the next Bond film.’

‘With him [Ronson] we may even surpass “A View To A Kill”‘, Rhodes added.

Ronson has previously been attached to fellow Quantum of Solace title song contender Amy Winehouse. The two had worked on a song for the film, but it was never completed.

The other new contender is solo artist and lead singer of British duo Eurythmics, Annie Lennox. The Sun reports that the singer is the latest to make a bid for the title song.

Other recent artists rumoured for the Bond track include Duffy, Jack White, Leona Lewis and Beyonce. As always, keep in mind that these are unconfirmed rumours at this stage. An official announcement is yet to be released.

  8. 'I had to set my own visual tone for "Quantum of Solace".'

    By Devin Zydel on 2008-07-01
    Director Marc Forster

    Director Marc Forster

Quantum of Solace director Marc Forster spoke with Moviefone about his vision for the 22nd James Bond film and how it differs from what we’ve seen before.

‘You take on Bond, and you work within that framework of Bond,’ said Forster. ‘You know, you have the girls, the cars, the history, the millions of fans. Casino Royale has been such a huge success, and audiences always have higher expectations. So there is incredible pressure you are under because you have to create something as a follow-up to Casino Royale. And that sort of pressure excited me.’

‘At the same time, I always love[d] the early ‘Bond’ films, like the 1960s Sean Connery, Ken Adam-designed Bond films, which I felt were so much ahead of their time in feel and look and design. And I felt like when you got to Quantum of Solace there would be this incredible opportunity I had been given to really create something stylish and interesting and push further than where Casino went.’

Although Quantum of Solace picks up roughly 30 minutes after the events of Casino Royale, Forster was keen to point out that this film won’t be a carbon copy of Daniel Craig’s debut as 007.

    Daniel Craig is James Bond

    Daniel Craig is James Bond

He said: ‘I had to set my own tone and own visual tone for Quantum of Solace. So I didn’t want to get too married to it because I felt like I still have to put my stamp on it and visualize it the way I feel it should be right to the character. And also, the movie starts where the last one ended. And I feel Bond is in a very different place now because it’s the first time he experienced love and he lost someone. And now we take off from this point where he experienced that loss. And what really does it mean for Bond also to lose someone as he himself takes other people’s lives? And it makes him psychologically more vulnerable, and out of that vulnerability the main theme, the center of the film, for me was trust. What can you trust? And what does trust really mean if you love someone?’

When questioned about the supposed curse hanging over the Bond production, Forster shrugged it off. ‘On every action film, small accidents happen. And really the greatest news is obviously that Harris, the stunt guy, is out of the hospital. He’s walking, talking. He really will get back to normal. That’s just incredible news. And then the little things like with the finger and stuff, that’s just gonna happen, you know. So I’m not really buying into it because I feel the movie we did is really special and the main things are I’m feeling very positive about it.’

  10. IT'S HERE

    By @mrpauldunphy on 2008-06-30

Rejoice 007 fans and moviegoers, as from today you can get your first good look at Quantum of Solace, the highly anticipated 22nd James Bond adventure, with the superb first teaser trailer.

Running for 1 minute 30 seconds and available in 13 languages, the trailer picks up from the end of Casino Royale with Mr White’s interrogation and also includes key action scenes including an snippet of the Aston Martin DBS car chase from the pre-titles sequence, a boat chase filmed in Panama, and a fight in an Italian art gallery.

Unofficially, the trailer was available on Youtube until earlier today. But now, for some inexplicable reason, the trailer is now only officially available online for two hours from 5pm BST (12 noon EST, 9am PST) until 7pm BST (2pm EST, 11am PST) via the following sites:

Don’t ask why. It makes no sense, really. If you fancy downloading a higher resolution version of the Quantum of Solace teaser trailer to your computer (and what Bond geek wouldn’t?), then there’s a nice compendium of different video qualities here thanks to themoviebox.net.

If you’d rather experience the Quantum of Solace teaser trailer in the cinema, the trailer will be attached to prints of Hancock, which is due to be released on July 2nd. But let’s face it, you’d only go to watch Hancock for the Bond trailer, wouldn’t you?
