‘I play Elvis, Dominic Greene’s henchman, sidekick, associate, cousin,’ says Taubman on location at Austria’s Seebühne floating stage.

‘[On Quantum of Solace], I feel like everyone here is special. The film is teamwork; you really feel that way. Here you really feel apart of it because it’s such a big, big family.’

‘It was very important for me that I talked to Marc [Forster] prior to saying “yes” to the project about whether we could make Elvis multi-faceted, like “how about something with the hair?” And he’s like: “great, I like that!”‘

‘He has something going on with the hair, but we don’t want to give that away yet…’

While specific details remain yet to be announced, a Sony Pictures Netherlands employee has stated that the new trailer will be revealed on 11 September.

  5. "We wanted to join the family of Barry, Bassey, Connery and Craig."

An enthusiastic Jack White spoke to USATODAY.com’s Listen Up blog about his upcoming James Bond theme, “Another Way To Die”, a collaboration with R&B songstress Alicia Keys.

“After a couple of years of wanting to collaborate with Alicia Keys, it took James Bond himself to finally make it happen,” White said.

“Alicia put some electric energy into her breath that cemented itself into the magnetic tape. Very inspiring to watch. It gave me a new voice, and I wasn’t myself anymore. I drummed for her voice and she mimicked the guitar tones, then we joined our voices and screamed and moaned about these characters in the film and their isolation, having no one to trust, not even themselves. Maybe we became them for a few minutes.”

“The Memphis Horns were there to help us out, along with some of Nashville’s finest. Might be the first analogue Bond theme in twenty years, I don’t know. We wanted to push soul into those tapes, and join the family of Barry, Bassey, Connery and Craig.”

“Another Way To Die” will appear on the official soundtrack to Quantum of Solace, which will be released on J Records on 28 October, 2008.

  6. 'Quantum of Solace' Delayed In The US

    By Kevin Wells on 2008-08-22

Unfortunately for American James Bond fans Quantum of Solace will be delayed from its release of November 7th to November 14th due to the recent delay of Warner Bros’ sixth Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Speaking to Variety Jeff Blake, Sony chairman of worldwide marketing and distribution said, “We believe Nov. 14 is a great date that allows us to play straight through Thanksgiving and right into Christmas. We believe this decision will give the public a wider opportunity to see the film over the holiday.”

Quantum of Solace will now go up against Baz Luhrmann’s Australia starring Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman. This move marks the second delay for James Bond’s twenty-second outing which was originally announced by Sony for a release on May 2nd before being pushed to the November date. Its release in the UK is still seemingly on track for 31 October.

  8. 'Quantum of Solace' – Official Blog Report #22

    By Devin Zydel on 2008-08-19

The official Quantum of Solace blog has been updated today with another crew member from the 22nd James Bond 007 film: Dean Bailey, stunt driver for the Utimate Arm camera.

‘I’m the stunt driver for the Ultimate Arm,’ says Bailey. This is a five-axis, gyrostabilized, remote controlled crane. We’re able to do anything from slow dolly moves to very aggressive chase scenes.’

‘I don’t care how rough the road is or how aggressive the driving is. The image is super stable.’

‘We’re able to get inches away from the action safely,’ he says, referring to the opening car chase sequence involving Bond’s Aston Martin DBS. ‘We actually work right with the stunt guys’.

  9. 'Quantum of Solace' Promotional Partners Line Up

Olga Kurylenko will promote Heineken and the Ford Ka

With the theatrical debut of Quantum of Solace only a few months away, the numerous promotional partners that will showcase their brands in the film are beginning to line up.

Variety reports that several companies previously featured in Daniel Craig’s James Bond debut in Casino Royale will be returning once again, including: Ford Motors, Heineken beer, Smirnoff vodka, Omega watches, Virgin Atlantic, Sony Ericsson cell phones and other Sony electronics.

While distributor Sony Pictures declined to disclose exactly how much is being spent, the number is expected to be around the same amount for Casino Royale–which had a $100 million (£50 million) worldwide advertising campaign.

Olga Kurylenko, who stars as Bond girl Camille, is promoting the Heineken brand and Ford’s all new car, the Ford Ka.

‘Our long association with James Bond has helped enhance the profile of the Heineken brand across the world,’ said Stefan Orlowski, group commerce director for Heineken. The company previously used a similar marketing tactic in 2006 when Bond girl Eva Green was featured in their campaign, which included television commercials.

The Ford Ka will begin to roll out in Europe around the Bond film release date in early November. A special edition ‘Solace’-themed Ka will be sold that features metallic gold paint and exterior graphics. The Volvo, Range Rover and other Ford vehicles also make appearances in Quantum of Solace.

As was the case with Casino Royale, the number of promotional partners for the 22nd Bond film is being limited by Sony and Eon Productions to about ten. This sparked from the promo overload of some 20 tie-ins in Die Another Day (which was coined ‘Buy Another Day’ by some critics because of it).

The multi-media campaign, expected to start in October, will include TV, print, radio, online and other advertising to launch in 40 countries.

  10. Ford Ka's Cameo Role In 'Quantum of Solace'

    By Devin Zydel on 2008-08-15

It was first reported on the CommanderBond.net main page back in April that the 22nd James Bond film, Quantum of Solace, would feature Ford’s new model, the Ford Ka.

A newly announced press release now confirms the appearance, adding that the vehicle will be seen in the film alongside leading Bond girl Camille (played by Olga Kurylenko).

    The full release follows:

JAMES BOND MOVIE ROLE FOR NEW FORD KA

The highly-anticipated new James Bond adventure, Quantum of Solace, will feature a cameo appearance from Ford’s fresh-faced new model, the all-new Ford Ka.

Ford’s cheeky new small car will make its screen debut alongside the film’s beautiful but feisty leading lady, Olga Kurylenko. Kurylenko plays Camille, a woman with her own personal mission and who quickly becomes an unlikely ally for Bond.

The Quantum of Solace Ka is unique with metallic gold paint and an exclusive exterior graphics and interior trim combination.

“The new Ka is the perfect match for the character of Camille–adventurous, individual and thoroughly modern,” says Ford of Europe’s Chief Operating Officer, Stephen Odell. “We are delighted that the launch of the film coincides with the launch of such a significant new model for Ford of Europe.”

The special ‘Quantum of Solace’ Ka was created by Ford of Europe’s Design team, in collaboration with the movie’s Oscar award-winning production designer, Dennis Gassner. The Ka’s cameo continues Ford of Europe’s relationship with the James Bond films, following the debut appearance of the latest Ford Mondeo, in the 2006 blockbuster, Casino Royale.

Twelve years after the original Ford Ka wowed customers with its modern spirit and what has proved to be a remarkably age-less design, its successor looks set to repeat its impact.

The new model retains all the qualities which made the Ka so popular–compact size, great looks, lively dynamics and fun personality–but presents them in a fresh new package. Further technical details of the new Ford Ka will be revealed closer to launch later in 2008.

Quantum of Solace is produced for EON Productions by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli and distributed by Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Directed by Marc Forster, the film stars Daniel Craig as the legendary secret agent, James Bond and opens in the UK and France on October 31st, then elsewhere November 7th.

The all-new Ka enjoys the spotlight of its own at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, on October 2.
