  2. Individual James Bond 'Ultimate Edition' DVDs In US; February '07

    By Devin Zydel on 2006-12-10

As James Bond fans in the US are aware, the only way to obtain the new ‘Ultimate Edition’ 007 DVDs for Region 1 is buy one or all of the four ultimate collection box sets. However, Double O Section reports that individual releases are on the way…

The ‘Ultimate Edition’ James Bond DVDs will be released individually in February 2007 in the US. They will presumably be in normal DVD case packaging, and not the slimcases contained in the current boxed sets.

There is, however, one catch: The individual releases will only be single-disc editions. The second disc, filled with new and old special features will not be included. Thus, the only extras available will be the audio commentaries for each film.

Each DVD will retail for $14.98 and the first set of releases (yes, keep rolling your eyes, you didn’t honestly think the US would get all the Bond films released at once, did you?!) include: Goldfinger, Thunderball, The Spy Who Loved Me, For Your Eyes Only, Licence To Kill, and GoldenEye on 6 February.

No details have been released in regards to whether or not the individual releases will use the same cover artwork.

  5. Seamaster Planet Ocean Casino Royale Limited Edition

    By Devin Zydel on 2006-11-20

It was reported earlier on CBn that Omega had planned a second limited series watch for the film: the Casino Royale Planet Ocean. The official press release and pictures now follow:

Seamaster Planet Ocean Casino Royale Limited Edition

Even whilst relaxing on the beach, only the best is good enough for James Bond, an ethos perfectly reflected in his choice of diving partner.

The Seamaster Planet Ocean Casino Royale is a potent combination of technical complexity and aesthetic elegance.

The Planet Ocean model is identified by its distinctive bezel, which recalls the original Seamaster 300 metre models, albeit with a choice between classic and highly contemporary interpretations of this historical theme.

Meticulous attention to detail resulted in a slightly different bezel design with a model taking on a resolutely sporty look. The unidirectional rotating bezel has minute graduations for the first fifteen minutes, numbers for the subsequent ten-minute sectors and a luminous triangular marker at 12 o’clock.

Other features indicating that this is a professional divers’ watch are the watertight screw-in crown, a screw-in case back and the helium escape valve, located at 10 o’clock and embossed with “He”. The Seamaster Planet Ocean is water resistant to 600 metres (2000 feet).

The matt black dial also offers excellent clarity, thanks to applied luminous hour markers and Arabic numerals at 12, 6 and 9 o’clock, with date window at 3 o’clock. The facetted arrowhead hour and minute hands also have luminous SuperLuminova inserts, and a luminous arrowhead seconds hand with orange tip offers ultimate visibility down to the last second. Beneath the surface is Omega’s calibre 2500 Co-Axial Escapement movement, which is a COSC-certified chronometer and has a power reserve of 48 hours.

The Seamaster Planet Ocean Casino Royale is available with a 45.5 mm diameter case and a black rubber strap. This Limited Edition has exclusive features: the central second hand bears the “007” gun logo in orange, that recalls the code name of the famous MI6 secret agent.

The stainless-steel case back is embossed with the Casino Royale logo as well as the series number of each Limited Edition watch.

Limited to 5’007 pieces, the Seamaster Planet Ocean Casino Royale will be a perfect collector’s item for all James Bond aficionados.

    By Devin Zydel on 2006-10-25

Details have been released on the CBn forums about the upcoming release of the James Bond 007 ‘Ultimate Edition’ DVDs in the US.

While images of the four different box sets and pre-ordering links have been available online for some time now, many Bond fans have been wondering exactly what kind of DVD cases each specific film will have as well as if they will feature the same UK cover art.

Each Bond film will be released in a slim DVD case (most often seen as part of the release of television shows on DVD)–it will not be a fold-out design. The collectible booklets that accompany each film are included in the boxed set. Front and back cover artwork will be the same as the UK editions.

  10. James Bond Ultimate Edition 'Buy One Get One Free' Offer

    By Devin Zydel on 2006-10-20

While US James Bond fans eagerly await the release of the first two ‘Ultimate Edition’ 007 DVD sets in early November, a new promotion has been set into action for the already released DVDs in the UK.

20th Century Fox has taken over the back-catalogue of all 20 James Bond films and will be offering a ‘Buy One Get One Free’ offer. On 17 October, a publicity junket was arranged with former 007 stars Sir Roger Moore, Britt Ekland, and Maryam d’Abo in attendance to promote the DVDs.

‘Fox has spent millions of dollars developing its third-party distribution system, and there will be a team dedicated to handling MGM product. In the past, Sony had to bundle their [product] with MGM’s. I think that we needed that individual attention. And Sony realizes that Fox is in a better position to handle it,’ – reports Moviehole.

In addition, MGM Home Entertainment has launched a James Bond trail with Google Earth – reports New Media Age. Fans can ‘retrace the steps of Ian Fleming’s superspy through Google Earth, clicking on individual film titles to take a chronological journey through the secret agent’s 20 films.’
