  1. Ian Fleming's 'O.H.M.S.S.' Large Print Now Shipping

    By Devin Zydel on 2006-04-15

The Large Print edition of Ian Fleming’s James Bond novel, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service is now shipping from amazon.com. It can be ordered for a price of $29.95. This 007 novel is released in Large Print format as apart of the Thorndike Press Famous Authors Series. They previously released Live And Let Die in January of 2006.

The book is also listed on amazon.co.uk, but is currently in ‘limited availability’.

Typically released in very limited quantites, and the majority going to libraries make large print James Bond novels sometimes very difficult to track down. Pre-ordering is strongly recommended. Past large print editions have appeared for Raymond Benson’s High Time To Kill, The World Is Not Enough, Doubleshot, Never Dream Of Dying, and Die Another Day, as well as all of the Ian Fleming and John Gardner novels with the exception of 1989’s Licence To Kill. Charlie Higson’s SilverFin and Ian Fleming’s Live And Let Die were the most recent large print releases.

Stay tuned to CBn for all the latest literary James Bond news.

  2. Casino Royale Movie Tie-in Edition

    By Athena Stamos on 2006-04-02

The mystery of whether IFP and Eon Productions would commission an original movie novelization of Casino Royale or just reissue the Fleming novel has today been solved, reports The Young Bond Dossier.

     Daniel Craig is James Bond

Daniel Craig as 007 in Casino Royale

According to this listing on Amazon.com, Ian Fleming’s original Casino Royale novel will be released as a paperback movie tie-in edition on October 31, 2006. The book will be published by Penguin and clock in at 240 pages. No doubt, the cover art will be the official movie poster art or image of new James Bond Daniel Craig.

Both John Gardner and Raymond Benson penned novelizations of the Bond films made during their tenures as official continuation novelists. However, these films were made from original screenplays not based on any single Fleming work.

The new Casino Royale film is based entirely on Ian Fleming’s first James Bond novel and retains many of the major elements found in the 1953 original.

This is actually the second time Fleming’s Casino Royale has been issued as a movie tie-in. In 1967 Signet in the U.S. and Pan in the UK released tie-in editions featuring the poster art for the unofficial film produced by Charles K. Feldman.

Casino Royale is the 21st James Bond film produced by franchise holders Eon Productions. The MGM/Columbia Pictures production began shooting in January and is due for release worldwide on 17 November 2006. Starring Daniel Craig as James Bond, it is currently being filmed in the Czech Republic, the Bahamas, Italy and the UK.
