Ian Fleming’s Moonraker
Well-known by book collectors as a publisher of mystery fiction and the proprietor of The Mysterious Bookshop in New York City, Mr. Penzler will be putting up the majority of his massive private collection up for sale at the New York-based Swann Auction Galleries on Thursday, 8 April 2010.
An obvious highlight of the sale for 007 collectors will be a pristine first edition set of Ian Fleming’s Bond novels. Standouts include a first edition copy of 1953’s Casino Royale and a signed/inscribed copy of 1955’s Moonraker (the latter valued at an estimated $15,000 – $25,000).
Other authors represented in sale include Eric Ambler, John Buchan, Len Deighton, Graham Greene, John Le Carré, E. Phillips Oppenheim, Dennis Wheatley and endless others.
