  1. Colin Salmon On Being The Next James Bond

    By Matt Weston on 2007-03-18

After his widely-acclaimed performance in Casino Royale, many fans are hoping Daniel Craig will be around for the foreseeable future. However, the media being the media, discussion over who will be the 007th James Bond is never too far away.

In an interview in the popular Is this it? column in today’s The Guardian Guide, in which various celebrities are asked questions posed in the form of song lyrics, Colin Salmon has talked about what would happen should he eventually land the role of the world’s most famous spy.

Salmon, who played Charles Robinson in three of Pierce Brosnan’s 007 films, and who has been rumoured as cinema’s first black James Bond, said, “People have been betting about me being the next Bond for some time, so we’ll see how it goes.”

“There isn’t a young man on the planet who wouldn’t like to be Bond. I’m not holding my breath, but the response of the British public has been heartening.”

“I’d be somewhere between Daniel and Pierce. I like what they’ve both done.”

While absent from Casino Royale, Salmon can currently be seen on BBC2’s Party Animals, which finishes its first series on Wednesday. He has also just been cast in an updated podcast remake of the cult sci-fi series, Blake’s 7, which will made available in April.
