  1. New 'DAD' action sequence uncovered!

    By David Winter on 2002-05-24

German James Bond Webseite 'all time high' has uncovored a new, smaller action sequence, which will take place in Die Another Day.

According to the website, the 2nd unit will head to Spoiler Warning (Highlight To Read)Hong Kong later this year, to film some views of the famous Peninsula Hotel. A set in Pinewood doubled for the interior of the hotel, and a chase sequence with animals was shot already.

That's the first time we hear of this sequence, so you can add your ideas to this thread in the Die Another Day Forums!

  2. Official Site Updates With Peter Lamont Interview

    By daniel on 2002-05-24

The official James Bond site, http://www.jamesbond.com, has today updated with an interview with Die Another Day Production Designer Peter Lamont.

And that has to be one of the better images on the official site. What are all those objects in the background? There is obviously the Omega Seamaster, and it appears that the watches gadgets are detailed underneath. Next to the watch there also appears to be a soldier, who looks strikingly similair to the surfboard soliders scene in the pre-title sequence. There are plenty of other objects, if you'd like to discuss them, please do so in this thread of the Die Another Day Forums.

The interview revolves mainly around Lamont's, and his teams, process for designing objects to be seen on screen. For instance, there's an interesting point as to why the Jaguar XKR is green and not another colour.

The interview concludes with the promise from Yarborough that we may soon see some official pictures from inside the Ice Palace. Can't wait!

And again, if you'd like to discuss any part of this report please do so in this thread of the Die Another Day Forums. See you there!

  3. Great Pictures From Around Pinewood Studios

    By daniel on 2002-05-24

'Uther Pendragon' has been nice enough to send in these photos to CommanderBond.Net which they've taken over the past few weeks around Pinewood Studio's.

The first two pictures are of the main car workshop at Pinewood Studios, where Bond's Aston Martin V12 Vanquish (several of them to be precise) is maintained and modified for the required scenes. On the right of the workshop are several Vanquish's lined up (including one with it's chasis completely removed). And on the left you'll notice the green Jaguar XKR, and also a jeep in the very dark part of the left of the photo. It's quite possible, however, that this jeep actually isn't a part of the production. In the second photo you can see all four Vanquish's and down the far end of the workshop there are two Jaguar XKR's, both covered.

The next photo is of a model of a Russan Antanov Cargo plane. The model, which is obviously incomplete, will be seen towards the end of the film. Of course, in the film it will appear as a real plane as opposed to a model you're now viewing. If you look in the background you'll notice another model in an earlier stage of construction.

If you're trying to work out the size of the model you can get a rough estimate by looking at the objects around it, perhaps the aerosol can directly underneath the plans tail. Frankly, the model is huge.

The next image is of another car workshop at Pinewood Studio's. This one is housing the cars less featured in Die Another Day. Notice the two centre cars are the red and yellow sports cars we're continually seeing onset. To the left is also a green Porchse and I'm not sure what the car underneath it is.

What seems more interesting is the car on the right appears to be a Ford Thunderbird. That said, I'm not a car expert. It is known that Jinx will drive a 2002 Ford Thunderbird, but this is obviously an older model. If anyone would like to clarify which car that is please drop me a line at [email protected] and I'll update this article.

The next and final image was taken at the water tank at the back of Pinewood Studio's. You'll notice the boat on it is a Sunseeker (a similair model to the boat used in The World Is Not Enough). The main point of interest is that the person on it is Jinx, we can tell that from the bikini. Obviously this shot will appear in the Cuban scenes. However, 'Uther Pendragon' points out that the person getting in to the water is not Halle Berry but actually her body double.

That's all the images we have for you right now. If you'd like to discuss them please do so in this thread of the Die Another Day Forums. See you there!

    Update
Someone has been nice enough (and damn quick) to send in details of what the cars in the fourth picture are.

To begin with, under the green Porsche is a 2002 Ford Thunderbird, the car Jinx will be seen with in Iceland.

Now to the right, the car I originally thought was an older Ford Thunderbird is actually a 58 Ford. One can speculate that this car might appear in Cuban scenes. After Fidel Castro took over Castro no new car models were imported. Hence, most American cars that appear in Cuba are actually of a vintage era.

Thanks to the person who sent that in, you know who you are!

  4. More Screenshots Of NightFire Revealed

    By daniel on 2002-05-24

The official Electronic Arts website has updated to reveal some great screenshots from the forthcoming gaming title, NightFire. The screenshots show some of the amazing graphics that will appear in the game, and also a new glimpse of the digital form of the Aston Martin V12 Vanquish.

'Three Blind Mice' has also pointed out that GameSpot has screenshots of the game here and here.

  5. 007: Nightfire – E3 Coverage

    By daniel on 2002-05-24

This year's E3 has seen some great upcoming games; Command & Conquer Generals, Age of Mythology and many more (well, them two are my most eagarly awaited games!).

…oh, and not forgetting Nightfire – by Gearbox Software (creators of Half Life)!

Top PC gaming sites, IGN and Gamespot have both given their impressions on the game featured at E3, so check them out:

    IGN: [link]
    Gamespot: [link]

    Here are some small tasters:

    IGN:

There are tons of scripted events in the game, but the play is by no means linear. In fact, gamers can attack the same objective in several different ways. For example, in the first level, Bond must gain access to the castle in the background and sneak inside to attend a party, but he can't just walk through the front door as it's heavily guarded. Smart players will quickly notice that a nearby bridge enables their agent to jump down and onto a moving truck below — the vehicle will drive right into the enemy compound and Bond will be inside. However, there is another route: players can alternatively walk out into the woods and to the edge of the castle. From there, they can skirt around the structure, careful to avoid guards and enemy helicopters, until they come to a second-story ledge and a window that grants them access inside. Either way works — it's just a matter of player preference. Indeed, on some levels, Bond will need to be stealthy while in others he might find it beneficial to straight out attack the enemy.

This gives me some great faith in the game. With all the other console games (other than GoldenEye), I felt that the gameplay was very linear. With GoldenEye, you was given a level area, and you had to work here completing the objectives – running back and forth. With The World Is Not Enough (as an example of the other four), you had a path, and that path had to be followed if you wanted to complete the missions, you couldn't make big choices on your actions.

    Gamespot:

We're told that the game will have more than 20 missions, focusing on both single-player and multiplayer, and that the PC version of the game will have bonus content that the Xbox version won't.

That's just a small snippet from the article on Gamespot, but points out one of the advantages to having the game on the PC, rather than a console version. Although it sounds as though this "bonus content" will come with the game, additional content, such as multiplayer levels will hopefully (depending on the mod capabilites) be available for download. Also a level editior, which will allow for fans of the game to create their own custom maps. Many other "extras" are available to PC versions of games over consoles, the main reason why I've refused to buy a console. However, this is my own speculation, but most game developers nowadays do include the option for mods. We'll just have to wait and see – fingers crossed.

  6. Title Song Confirmed As 'Can't You See My Mind'

    By daniel on 2002-05-24

In a follow up to yesterdays news that the title track of Die Another Day will be called Can't You See My Mind another reference to the songs title has been found on the Internet.

In yesterdays report we mentioned that French composer-arranger Michel Colombier would arrange the song. If you visit Michel's official site in his What's Current section it says, Select songs from Madonna's new album, including 'Can't you see my mind?', title song of the soon-to-be-released James Bond movie, have had string arrangements written by Michel.

It seems that the song will also appear on Madonna's album.

If you'd like to discuss Madonna's title track please visit this thread of the Die Another Day Forums.

Finally a big thanks to 'Robster006' for pointing out the news!

  7. Interview with 'Colonel Moon', Will Yun Lee!

    By David Winter on 2002-05-23

The Ian Fleming Foundation has published an exclusive interview with Will Yun Lee, the actor of Die Another Day's Colonel Moon.

There is a copyright on the interview, so we are not allowed to re-publish the interview, go here to read the piece!

And if you want do discuss the interview, do it in this thread of the Die Another Day Forums!

  9. Details Of Madonna's Song Revealed, Including Title

    By daniel on 2002-05-23

Some details have come together today in regards to the theme song of Die Another Day, to be performed by Madonna. To begin with, The Hollywood Reporter has announced that the title for the song will not be Die Another Day but Can't You See My Mind.

Furthermore, it has been revealed that French composer-arranger, Michel Colombier will arrange the song.

As a Madonna fan 'Robster006' has also heard some details on the song. And he tells us in the Die Another Day Forums that Madonna has been "working in the studio on a jazz influenced song with strings and all". The song will reportedly be reminiscent of the classic song I've Got You Under My Skin which was made famous by the other Blue Eyes, Frank Sinatra.

If you'd like to discuss the news (I'm particularily keen to hear peoples opinion on the title, and the fact that it's not the same title as the movie) please do so in this thread of the Die Another Day Forums. See you there!

Finally a big thanks to Rich and 'Robster006' for sending in the news!

  10. Spy Report: Details On The Films Score By David Arnold

    By daniel on 2002-05-22

'Anonymous1' has just checked in with some exclusive details on the status of David Arnold's score for Die Another Day.

To begin with, to aid David Arnold's scoring of Die Another Day he has received a rough copy of the film. Yes, you're all thinking lucky guy. However, the copy he received a few weeks ago is missing parts of the film. Of course, it does allow Arnold to score the music directly to the film.

Moreover, Arnold will hit the recording studios in June to record the score for Die Another Day. The recording will be conducted in the UK in a location I can't disclose.

If you'd like to discuss it you can do so in this thread of the Die Another Day Forum.

Finally, a big thanks to 'Anonymous1' for sending that news in. Hopefully, we'll be able to keep you up to date with the status of the score over the coming months.
