    By daniel on 2001-08-03

Pierce Brosnan will wed former Model and TV Reported Keely Shaye Smith this Saturday in Ireland. Details have not been revealed publically, however, it has reached public attention that Brosnan is likely to tie the knot in the 800-year-old Ballintubber Abbey, in County Mayo, western Ireland.

After the service the newly-weds will hold a a reception at Ashford Castle hotel in the village of Cong. I've seen this 13th century castle and all I can say is very very grand!

Shaye Smith has already arrived in Ireland and confimred to reporters that her dress was designed by Richard Tyler, hinting that the dress was hidden among her baggage for the flight.

It is yet unclear if Brosnan has arrived in Ireland.

Pictures from the wedding will take sometime to filter onto the Internet as the couple signed an exclusive deal with a magazine. When we get some however, we'll let you know!

  4. Brosnan's Wedding Postponed Again!

    By daniel on 2001-07-25

Pierce Brosnan isn’t having much luck is he? His wedding has been postponed for well over a year because of his sons Seans car accident and now it seems only days after an announcement the stars wedding will be delayed once more.

    Why might you ask?

Well Australia’s Herald Sun tells us that Brosnan being Catholic wants a Catholic. One problem though. The church that he and his fiancee booked is well…. Presbyterian by denomination.

So it looks like a new church may be in order.

  5. Happy Birthday Dame Diana

    By daniel on 2001-07-20

Happy Birthday today to Tracy Draco aka. Mrs James Bond aka. Dame Diana Rigg

First made famous for her role as Emma Peel in the original ‘The Avengers’, which she played from 1965 through to 1967, she rose to the ranks of Bond in 1969’s ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service’. Plagued by rumours of on set friction with the one-time Bond George Lazenby it wouldn’t be the hight of her career.

Today, however, she acts mostly in television series. Most recently ‘Victoria & Albert’.

She was born on the 20th of July 1938 in Doncaster, Yorkshire which is of course in Great Britain!

Happy Birthday Dame Diana and thanks to NJ for sending this in!

  6. Rob Lowe Wants To Be James Bond

    By daniel on 2001-07-20

Add another actor to the list of actors who’d like to be James Bond. This time it’s actor Rob Lowe. Ananova has reported that Lowe would not mind taking over from Pierce Brosnan as James Bond.

Lowe was asked whether he would consider the role on the US television show Access Hollywood.

He was unsure whether his accent would be acceptable.

“What would I do about the English accent?” he asked before doing his own Bond impresssion.

But the West Wing actor said he would jump at the chance to play 007.

He says: “Every kid grows up wanting to be James Bond.

“I haven’t checked my answering machine today, maybe they’ve called.”

We’ll leave this one right alone. And finally just to clarify things, he is not being considered as replacing Brosnan, he just wouldn’t mind it!

  8. Cleese To Supervise Remake Of 'Fawlty Towers'

    By daniel on 2001-07-13

As Ananova has reported John Cleese, the new Q in Bond 20, is working on a remake of what could be considered his most popular role ever.

John Cleese has been supervising a German remake of Fawlty Towers.

The RTL station has commissioned the BBC and Cleese to work on a pilot show.

German comedy is currently in the doldrums after two stations announced they are reducing their comedy output.

Hamburg-based ARD has scrapped its in-house comedy and SAT 1 is ditching Ingolf Lux’s comedy show.

One of the few programmes SAT 1 is keeping is its series of Men Behaving Badly, known as Men Are Embarrassing in Germany.

RTL spokeswoman Sylke Zeidler said: “John Cleese came over to help out with the filming of Fawlty Towers. He worked on the script and co-writing and he also offered our crew advice.”

Spokesperson for regional TV and radio station, Norddeutsche Rundfunk (NDR) Martin Gartzke, says the British influence may be to blame for the problems German TV comedy is facing.

He said: “In my opinion, some of the programmes were unsuccessful because of their very dry humour where they tried and failed to copy the British – it was all a bit too stiff. Perhaps we should work more on our own German humour.”

  9. Harold Sakata's Birthday

    By daniel on 2001-07-01

Today would be the birthday of Harold Sakata had he not passed away in July of 1982.

Sakata is best known to us all as ‘Odd Job’, the man with the steel brimmed bowler opposite Sean Connery in Goldfinger. Goldfinger was his first feature film, before which he had won Won a silver medal in light-heavyweight weight-lifting at the 1948 summer Olympics.

He went on to do only a handful of films, and in 1974’s ‘The Wrestler’ he reprised the role of ‘Odd Job’. That was his characters name anyway.

Thanks to NJ for the tip-off!
