Even with an almost three-month wait, the James Bond buzz in Japan was at an all time high this weekend.

Quantum of Solace finally debuted in theaters there this past Friday–the final territory for the 22nd 007 film–and set yet another box office record for the series.

According to Variety, Quantum pulled in $6.5 million over the weekend, soaring past the previous opening record of $3.2 million held by 2006’s Casino Royale.

This strong opening pushed the international (non-US) total for the Bond film up to $391.2 million.

Following its release in late 2006, Casino Royale went on to gross a cumulative $18.9 million in Japan.
