The announcement took place today at Waterstone’s Piccadilly, Europe’s largest bookstore, from 10:30 to 12:30.

In a publicity move that was kept a strict secret until 3 October 2006, Ian Fleming Publications announced that the decision of the final title of the novel would be left to the fans. Given one month to vote online, the three choices included Double or Die, N.E.M.E.S.I.S., and The Deadlock Cipher. Higson provided an extract on the official website explaining why he narrowed down his list to these three titles.

According to the initial press release, Double or Die will see James Bond pitted against the dangerous criminal underworld of interwar London, a world of illegal gambling dens, Cambridge spies and East End gangs.

Later in the month, Higson will be making a promotional tour throughout several UK bookstores to promote Double or Die and the Young Bond series. Click here for all the details.
