I am very sure Forster will pass CR. Honesty alot of CASINO ROYALE was not revolutionary, it was mostly common sense and surpassing that should be no problem with someone as Forster.

Forester will do great. While action isn't his main schtick, he's a talented director. Stranger Than Fiction was a phenomanal film by him. He seems extremely dedicated, and it's clear that he can direct with skill.

I think QoS will be totally different to CR. CR is the longest Bond film yet made, followed by the shortest Bond film yet made. They will be hard to compare, it'll all come down to how you like to spend your time with Bond. I think if it's not as good as CR, it will not be a failure. Toppling CR is a hard task to achieve. It will still be one of the best Bond films in a long while.

The Times, there, describing Smersh as a 'fantasy proxy'.
Oh, and dismissing the The Living Daylights, too. Makes you proud, dunnit? |

I think QoS will be a different type of Bond film, while still retaining the style and grit of Casino Royale.
I will not be comparing the two. ![]() --DaveBond21--

Apples and oranges.
I (correctly or not) tend to liken CR to a modern, action-oriented 50s noir, and QOS to a modern, action-oriented 60s spy thriller (going on the description by Forster). Or, CR is more like its own novel, which has plenty of character establishment and slow-building tension, and QOS is like LALD, which is a lean, mean, globe-hopping venture. ![]() |

Marc Forster has very few films to his credit, but he is a talented filmmaker, and one whose best work lies ahead of him. Obviously, I look forward to Quantum of Solace, but as a cinephile I'm also looking forward to see how Forster's career progresses.

I don't think QOS is going to be so different that it can't be compared to CR. EON wouldn't allow a distinction like that. They are Bond films so they can be judged as such.

Sure, they're certainly comparable as "Bond films". I just think they'll feel like different sub-genres. Anal? You bet. ![]() |
