Sad news indeed.
He was a bit of a TV icon here in Oz. While he played many an American Indian in Hollywood B movies (and Leiter of course), he's best remembered here for playing a character in a long running crime show on TV called Matlock Police. IMDb should change the image they're using for his profile.

Yes, if it hadn't been for the obsession of the time of having every hero in mainstream cinematic/television entertainment being American, the role reversal of Pate as Bond and Nelson as Leiter would have been far more logical - and would have worked far better. |
