That's fair! I hope all the countries now with a November 5, 6 or even 7 release date will get the same treatment.
I wonder if the producers chose the US release date because it had a "07" in it, for promotion's sake? ![]() The Mercurius Affair: A James Bond novella - A tribute to Ian Fleming's creation

I wish it was the same here in Australia. We have to wait for the cast to get over here on November 27th before we see it.

It's all about finding the right Friday to open on for these Bond films. ![]() |

Of all the countries in the world, Australia and Japan should be the first to get their release dates bumped. I just do not get why a film made in English takes longer to release in an English-speaking country when the Hungarian dubbed version comes out two weeks before us. ![]() "Well, we know where you stand ... right next to the talking polar bear from 'The Golden Compass'!" |

So my only Bond movie here in Australia so far was Casino Royale which came out on December 7th, and so yes, it seems to be 3 weeks later. But Daniel Craig was here for the premiere, and he couldn't have popped over to Australia any earlier, so maybe that is the reason? Conversely, the Dark Knight came out here before it did in the US!!!! ![]() --DaveBond21--

Heck, November 27th, that's tough... PS: Are you from Oz, Captain? Yeah, I'm Australian. And we do frequently get delays; I recall we got Casino Royale late as well, but we were the first country to get The Dark Knight. It's funny because New Zealand, pretty much the closest country to us in terms of everything, gets it around the 7th ... and no reasons are ever given as to why we get it so late. However, it's no so bad for me this time around. Uni exams take up the bulk of November, and we start getting into study mode around the 25th of Octoberwhen classes end. So it's not really a problem for me; I just have to stay off the interweb. It still sucks, though ![]() "Well, we know where you stand ... right next to the talking polar bear from 'The Golden Compass'!" |

I just do not get why a film made in English takes longer to release in an English-speaking country when the Hungarian dubbed version comes out two weeks before us. It's because they are made in English that Australia / New Zealand will lag behind the UK/US. The studio needs to produce different prints for Hungary etc. because of the different soundmix, but they can ship over pre-used English language versions from the UK/US to Australia to save on film costs. 3-4 weeks or so after the initial UK release the number of screens showing QoS will be considerably lower than the opening weekend freeing up spare prints. This should all change when they move over to large-scale digital projection though |

Now when are they going to bump up the North American date. Cause the big problem facing QoS right now is that they're scheduled to open against Madagascar, which, like Happy Feet did was CR, will have a huge advantage with a 80- something minute range against a record- length Bond film (I really can't see this one being any shorter than 150 minutes). So, North America is where a big portion of the money is made, and right now they're kinda screwed opening against a kiddies movie like Madagascar so why not move it over here?
And For YOLT, they do seem to be getting the films earlier and earlier in the year. With Bond 24 opening on the first week of October 2012- October 5, which is a Friday that year, is 50 years to the day that Dr. No premiered- then maybe we might get Bond 23 in mid October 2010. Then it would seem as if each Bond is coming sooner in the year. This post has been edited by mister-white: 8 August 2008 - 22:00 ![]() Daniel Craig is Bond! And Bond is better than ever for it!

If Marc Forster's words are anything to go by, the Quantum of Solace run time will be much shorter than Casino Royale: '...just under two hours...'. Madagascar 2 will definitely be the main competition that weekend, but it'll nonetheless be interesting to see if Quantum of Solace manages to come out on top. ![]() |
