![]() AWARD FOR NERDIEST FAN FICTION: In Jacques Stewart's magnum opus Just Another Kill, Bond contemplates eating his victim: "Meat. All the man was. All the man would be. Lowering his right eye (?) to the greased rim of the sniper's glass, James Bond rationalised, so far as he needed to, that meat was all that the man, still standing on the shoreline, had ever been." And it goes ON! Thanks Jacques Stewart, you meathead!

Oh, I saw.
I've begged one out of Puffin. However, I'm going to resist reading it. I like living with the anticipation, and there's something I like about reading the actual book. But, as a collectible, I really like this proof because of the promo cover art. ![]() |

But, as a collectible, I really like this proof because of the promo cover art. You're a stronger man than I, Zen. Though I've always enjoyed YB and snatched up the books when they became available, I can't say I've ever anticipated one as much as I'm anticipating BRC. Something tells me this will be a winner, even better than BloodFever. But a question. What sort of differences are there between proof copies and the final book? Is a proof copy basically one printed fresh of the author's computer without the final edits the publisher would recommend before printing the book? Is a proof basically a rough manuscript with errors and/or plot elements that might be missing from the final book? ![]() |

Back in the old days proofs could contain some significant content differences, but nowadays proofs are pretty much the finished book in galley form (sometimes without pages numbers).

Proof sold for £74 ($147).
I'm starting to get antsy about the cover art. We are way late getting it in comparison to the other books. Is it possible they are cooking up something special? ![]() |

I'm starting to get antsy about the cover art. We are way late getting it in comparison to the other books. Is it possible they are cooking up something special? I have little doubt we'll get something special (both because of the Hurricane Gold hardback and the fact it is - supposedly - the final Young Bond book). That said, the Hurricane Gold hardback will be very hard to top. ![]() |

It'd be mighty hard for me to restrain myself like that! I'm starting to get antsy about the cover art. Same. I want my Young Bond fix, it's been a while between drinks. ![]() |

It'd be mighty hard for me to restrain myself like that! I got the proof last week (along with a nifty SilverFin graphic novel preview booklet thingy). Despite what I told Single-O-Seven, this proof is very unfinished in form. It looks more like a manuscript. No typeset, and there are long sections that are underlined (not sure what this means). It could turn out to be something very special. And yes, I have resisted reading it. It went right on the shelf with my other proofs (my first complete YB five book set). When I read the actual book, I may go back and compare book to proof. Could be some interesting differences. ![]() |

I think these sprial-bound proofs are very rare. You still see the first 3 YB proofs on eBay, but you rarely see the HG sprial-bound.
