Now on the CBn main page...

Duffy, Jack White, Leona Lewis, Beyonce...

Duffy is playing secretive, saying that a 'lady never reveals her secrets', meanwhile the guys from the Last Shadow Puppets (who would do a great Bond theme) have said that Jack White has got it- and that they've heard that 'the race is over':

Interesting... Mercy is not half bad, but I don't know her work beyond that.

"Mercy" is a good song, but I also don't know anything about her work other than that one song. Based on "Mercy", though, I wouldn't be opposed to her performing the song.

Now THIS is a rumour I am liking the sound of...regardless of whether it is true or not. Though I did mention Duffy months ago and everyone nay-sayed me out of the water.

Duffy would be a perfect choice. Ideal in fact. She mixes the obvious torch song requirements of the song because of its musical past and the newer, less pop orientated take as kickstarted by Chris Cornell.

Her or Amy for me.

More of Duffy....

No. Because it wouldn't be MERCY. She has already recorded that and done quite well out of it, I believe.

I don't know what you think my dear friend, but I'm sure that she can't sing any song that can even compare with You know my name! Maybe I'm wrong, who knows!

She's fine- not as interesting as Winehouse; feels a bit more synthetic somehow. I'd take her over Leona Lewis, but I'm not excited.
It does sound as if she's submitted a song, though.

Let's not forget that Jack White's been thrown in the mix too- he's a big Anglophile so perhaps has a soft spot for Bond, plus he plays around in all sorts of genres; could be great.

Duffy would be okay.

Jack White is an interesting choice though. It'd no doubt piggy back on the more grungy/male vocals we got in Casino Royale. I don't care for The White Stripes, but Jack's a fair enough singer.

It wouldn't be a James Bond adventure starring Daniel Craig without some controversy!

Try The Raconteurs- his other band which is a bit more standard, and very good also.

As a song YOU KNOW MY NAME was not the greatest of works. As a Bond song, it however shone head and shoulders above what we had been given in recent films - more or less.

I wouldn't have thought that singers like DUFFY would potentially get a Bond gig just based on one song. I think her album is her greatest calling card for "Title Song Performed By".

Interesting thought - listening again then The Raconteurs 'Many Shades of Black" sounds like a proto Bond theme. Also crossed my mind that there were a few Bond moments on "The Last Shadow Puppets" album earlier this evening, so both have potential.
