No leakage from the films, apart from the Moneypenny-flirting routine we've already seen? Did Fleming do that at all? I don't remember any.

No leakage from the films, apart from the Moneypenny-flirting routine we've already seen? Did Fleming do that at all? I don't remember any. Fleming did a bit of this, mostly in 'Thunderball' which was originally meant to be a film in the first place, so perhaps that's where the lighter note of flirting and banter with Moneypenny comes from. Some readers may also be surprised by how humorous some chapters of Devil May Care are. "I wanted to be witty without being arch," explains the author. Why does it have to be humorous at all? That's something that's almost entirely out of the films and neither Fleming nor his Bond and his adventures can even remotely be described as funny or humorous. Can't there be a Bond without witty one-liners? This post has been edited by Trident: 27 May 2008 - 10:52 ![]() "Its better to travel hopefully than to arrive."

Humour comes in many forms, not just one liners.
It also comes in slapstick, for example. Shall we wait and see just what he had in mind? ![]() ________________________________________________

the more interviews I read with Faulks, the more he seems to be condescending towards the literary Bond canon...
