Eon Screenwriters’ Workshop. eek.gif

Sounds like it's only open to British writers, but what a great thing to get involved in.

I was wondering about the Eon Screenwriter's Workshop and found this:

I like this line in their mission statement: "We support writers with big ideas".

I hope this doesn't impact 007 in terms of quality and qunaity of films.

Seems like this is along the lines of something I'd read around the time of Casino Royale production and Barbara Broccoli becoming more involved in the production, Michael Wilson stepping more to the back. She was interested in other things, of which James Bond would ultimately become a small part.

But, who knows--.

Odd timing on this. Eon has been around for nearly 50 years and only produced two films outside the Bond series, so why now, when the series is coming off a resurgence is this coming into play?

You'd have thought this would have been a move to make during the 6-year hiatus. I recall in old interviews Cubby talking about owning several properties but never doing anything with them.

You'll notice that a lot of the content on this site was written by Michael's son, David.

I don't have a problem with them wanting to branch out so long as they protect what really matters if in the event of a couple bad apples.

That's a good page there about the objective story and subjective story, I'm reading a book on screenwriting by Lew Hunter and he talks about the same thing but he refers to it as: what the story's about, and what the story's REALLY about.

Weren't they tied up in court? Also, I believe Mr. Broccoli was having rather challenging health issues at that time.

Or indeed ones quantity of posts not to be too qualitatively affected by their numbers.

(Seems even after one attempt at editing, you could still have another stab at it sir)

I just hope these 'other' EON films won't effect the work and release of new Bond films.

I'm begining to wonder if this could be the end of the Bond franchise. Wilson taking a break and Barbara looking into other projects.

I have a bad feeling that it is indeed Hollywood wanting (making the approach now that the franchise is really going places it had never seen, thanks to DC) a bigger piece of the JB franchise, and we are not being told all the deal's details.....just a feeling huh.gif
