I can't access the whole article because you have to be registered to the newspaper but this is an excerpt from last weekend's 'Sunday Tribune' in South Africa:

British actor Simon Kassianides, 28, made a dramatic exit from a plane to secure his part as a villain in the new Bond movie, Quantum of Solace...

Not a huge amount of information I admit. Although, as I understand it, Kassianides will be playing the character Yusef - a role I hadn't previously heard of.

Yeah, that's definately new. Sounds like he's involved in that freefall sequence somehow, unless there's more than one aerial stunt in the film (which I seriously doubt).

Not that it counts for much, but IMDB doesn't put him in QoS.

Has anyone heard of him being cast?

Don't rely on IMDB for anything, Olga Kurylenko has top billing :rolleye:... Wiki's more reliable, even though it can be edited by anyone.

So I guess this "stunt" has nothing to do with his part in QoS, I suppose he simply got out of the plane he was about to take just before taking off to be able to go to this audition, and the journalist made a story of it with a playful wording.

In addition to Simon Kassianides as I mentioned in another thread, I've found another new piece of casting news which we hadn't previously heard of. Stana Katic - who fans of 24 may remember as Collette Stenger - has been cast as Corrine Veneau. It's reported on quite a few websites such as this one. Bearing in mind we know that Bond only has intimate relations with Fields in the movie, I speculate that she must be some sort of villain. I can also reveal that she has shot scenes with Kassianides' character. She is referred to as a "vixen" in the above resume. She's very easy on the eye, I must say...

Just dug a little deeper for info on this Yusef chap. Here it is:

But anyway, interesting that we hear about this character actually being in the film, rather late in the game, and nowhere to be seen in any official EON press material, at least yet. Gonna assume that its 1. supposed to be a surprise, and 2. a small amount of screentime. Perhaps the character is being introduced in QoS as a setup for Bond 23?

And am I crazy or didn't someone from EON (possibly Michael G. Wilson) say that this character would not be in the film? (I only sorta skimmed through a lot of the recent spoiler articles).

Nope, Mitchell is played by someone called Glenn Foster who is predominantly a stuntman. I guess he won't have to do much acting, just jumping across rooftops, etc.
