Now on the CBn main page...

Was originally due in early November

EMPIRE magazine online has just pinned up a story announcing that QUANTUM OF SOLACE is to be released a week earlier in the UK than expected.

Quantum of Solace Gets Earlier Release
Bond 22 UK date confirmed.

Sony Pictures has just informed us that Quantum of Solace has a new UK release date. It had recently been set to hit British cinemas on November 6, but that date has come forward October 31. So you can get your next fix of Bond goodness a week early and go dressed as a witch, pumpkin or other Halloween-themed whathaveyou.

The 22nd Bond film is currently shooting under the watchful eye of Marc Forster.

Only seven months to go! This is particularly good news! I wonder if this will affect the US as well.

No doubt someone will point out that this is to avoid the intense competition of Madagascar 37: Some More Cartoon or Drowning by Numbers II: Some More Numbers.

CBn: I wish I knew what it meant but it sounds jolly nice.
Only James Bond is James Bond.

Or HARRY POTTER as they are also known... Though Bond's got nothing to worry about. Unless the splitting of "HARRY POTTER AND THE LAST DITCH ATTEMPT FOR JK ROWLING TO DRAG OUT A STORY SHE HAS NO IDEA ABOUT HOW TO END SO WHY NOT KILL OFF SOMEONE AND HOPE IT EXPLAINS THE TERRIBLE BACKSTORY" means Warner Bros are desperately trying to eek out what hits they have at the moment....?

Incidentally, it does make me smile when the producers of HARRY POTTER 7 claim that "we just couldn't cut out the bits people loved" when the box office receipts allowed them to do that with films 1 - 6, but as the books end so too does the cash-cow.

I seriously think this release date change has little to do with HARRY POTTER. Bond has fended off greater foes in the past.

It will be a huge competition, no doubt. And this is only the UK so far, not all territories. I can picture myself sitting here that week, though - stewing over the fact you lucky Englishmen are enjoying the film that, by that point, I'll be aching to see smile.gif

I'm more and more worried this is going to be a rush job. You don't set out making release dates, you set out making good movies.

I'd be more concerned if the date had been bumped up a month. Hard to see how a week had make any difference to the quality of the film. On the other hand, if the strategy helps distance the film from the pack and make for far more dandy bucks, that's in all of our best interests, eh?

They wouldn't have moved the release date to a week earlier if they had any concerns about being able to finish on time.

I wouldn't worry a jot. There is no such thing as a "rush job" when a company have been making a product succesfully for nearly 50 years.

I hope it's of no consequence with the final product.

I disagree about the Bond movies being successful for the last 40 years thought, they may have made money, most of them, but many since DAF have been turds that suffers from the passage of time.

Ha ha!

Stamper, old friend, why have you been subjugating yourself to such turds for 35 odd years? Are we to read something about your good self into such a situation? wink.gif

They are pretty much on the same filming track as they were with CR, I would not worry much about the time frame.
