In my opinion, the high-water benchmark for this is going to be Ian Fleming: The Man Behind James Bond (Atlanta: Turner Publishing, Inc., 1995), by Andrew Lycett.
Although I know nothing of the Cabell effort beyond what I'm reading on CBn, I do hope that it rises above the sort of writing we too often see around Fleming and/or Bond years, and offers something truly new and deeply researched. |

Craig Cabell seems to be a professional biographer, and wrote several books about WWII and/or spies (Dennis Wheatley: Churchill's Storyteller and VE Day: A Day to Remember in 2005, Operation Big Ben: The Anti-V2 Spitfire Missions 1944-1945 in 2004) but I've read none of his works. Let's hope he developed enough scholarship about the matter to produce an interesting bookk!

While the info on this book is quite limited at the moment, the title definitely has me intrigued. I'll be watching this one to see what comes of it.
